My mum recently took up residence at Stanecroft Care Home. My mum smiles again, laughs and has a calmness that is so endearing to see. My mum is so happy to be in a home that makes her feel like she is part of a family, the Stanecroft family. A big thank you to all the staff and carers at Stanecroft Care Home, each and every one of you wonderful people has helped to make my mum's world a better place. God bless you all.

My sister-in-law has dementia and has been living in Stanecroft Care Home for just over a year and is very happy. She likes the staff, the food and her room.
I have found the staff are very kind, caring and professional at all times. Overall, I don't think we could have found a care home better suited to her needs.

A great care home with excellent management and staff.

Stanecroft cared for our Grandad for just over a year and did an excellent job. The layout of the home is bright and welcoming, easy for residents to navigate and helps residents to feel as if it is their own home. The staff go above and beyond to get to know the residents and support them with their needs. Our grandad was always well looked after and enjoyed the food and activities, particularly the musical entertainment. Due to his Alzheimer's, he would not have been the easiest man to look after, but the team did an excellent job of helping him to wash and dress each day and encouraging him to take part in the activities. The additional thoughtfulness of giving us space to have a birthday party for him and the care, compassion and attention they showed him did not go unnoticed, and we will always be grateful for the care they provided.

My mother arrive 4 weeks ago, the care, patience and help all the staff have given my mother is unbelievable, not only helping my mother but myself, my brother and my nieces to navigate the health care system.
In four weeks my mother has gained weight and been involved in more activities than she has done in years. With all the wonderful staff caring and encouraging her to get involved in arts and crafts to music therapy. Her health, happiness and safety have been such a worry, but now she is healthy happy and safe.

Thanks all to the staff at Stanecroft.

All the staff provide excellent care to all the residents. Staff are friendly and go out of their way to provide the utmost care, companionship and health care needs to the residents. The residents enjoy the entertainment, arts and crafts and even singing the old songs. Stanecroft is a very safe environment, offering excellent food and endless cups of tea and coffee. Mum's hair always looks lovely as hairdressing appointments can also be arranged along with manicures and pedicures for the ladies.

Mum has flourished since arriving at Stanecroft, she has built excellent relationships with all the caring staff. We can make a phone call to have a face to face meeting with the manager at any given time regarding any concerns that we may have. We would like to take this opportunity in thanking all the staff for their endless support and care shown to Mum. Thank you.

My cousin is a long term resident of Stanecroft, and he has been treated really well throughout the pandemic. The staff are helpful, friendly and always helpful with any questions etc.

The home is clean and tidy, and I think my cousin tends to think he is a hotel resident most of the time!

My mother was a resident in Stanecroft for some 9 months as a self-funder. She was initially pleased with the facilities and dementia staff but we came to realise that her needs were not being met. Classified as 'frail elderly' she was not able to socialise with the majority of dementia sufferers. Activities were geared to the needs of this group and my mother felt rejected. Other residents wandered into her room at night, one throwing water over her when challenged and personal items were taken and never found. She became very depressed and is now cared for in a more appropriate setting.

My mother has been a resident of Stanecroft for the last three years and has been very happy here. The building itself is bright and airy and all the staff that I've met over the years have been kind and caring. Sometimes there have been staff shortages but I think this is a reflection of both the area and the nature of the work which is hard. Initially, I was concerned about a lack of activities but there is now a full programme of events on offer.

In recent years, with dementia, my wife has become anxious and apprehensive about attending any meeting group.
However, since the first welcoming visit to The Oaks Day Club, she has been happy to go and now attends regularly, twice a week.
The staff are professional, supportive, sympathetic and above all, extremely kind. Everyone is treated with dignity and respect.

I am extremely grateful for the care and attention which my wife has received and the general interaction with others has been invaluable for her.

Overall we have been very happy with the care given. We have especially appreciated the good communication from the management and the individual attention given to the family- we didn't feel like a process but very welcome. Hospital transport was provided when needed. A few recommendations-
The lack of continuity in the care staff- although they were all very helpful.
The very low toilets and armchairs were a challenge for a tall man.
Nothing was provided for stimulation other than a small television that very few chairs actually faced.

We are really thankful that this respite place was provided at such short notice so close to home.

A friend was admitted at the end of January for dementia care. The staff were very caring and understanding of her condition and she settled in well to this lovely home particularity enjoying the gardens, I was particularly impressed with.

The health assistants who dealt with her continued incontinence with humour and understanding, also helping her to eat and drink. I cannot speak highly enough of this care home and would hope to go here myself if it became necessary. The manager is really excellent and very kind to all the residents.

Stanecroft is always clean, light, bright and cheerful with welcoming touches of seasonally-changing pictures and decorations to keep residents stimulated.
The gardens are attractive, well-maintained and securely accessible to residents.
Food is varied and plentiful and can be tailored to accommodate individual needs.
Personal care is good and residents are encouraged to have clean clothes on every day. There have been some recent delays with laundry not being returned in a timely way but this should be rectified with the new washing machine.
The staff are caring and friendly - they establish a good rapport with residents and give a warm welcome to visitors.
Activities for residents have been much improved in the last three months and include visiting entertainers.
Other visiting services include GP, hairdresser, chiropodist, dentist and optician.

In summary, I am amazed at what Stanecroft achieves, especially in the current financially-constrained environment.

Meet the Team (1)

Emma Fox
Emma FoxJob Title:Home Manager

I've worked for Care UK for over 15 years. One of the best things about this role is seeing the difference a positive experience or conversation can make to a resident. Seeing smiles and hearing laughter every day around the home makes me so proud to work here and to work in a care setting.

I continue to learn new things every day, and I have lots of aims for the home, including developing our environment to make it even better, and to make residents’ wishes come true. Big or small, we make people’s dreams a reality. For example, when a resident wanted to be a bride for the day to relive her big day, we supported her to wear her wedding dress and I walked her up the aisle.
