The Review Score of 9.5 (maximum of 10) for Thameside is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.
a) The Average Rating is 4.6 out of 5 from 14 Reviews over all time. This Average Rating is also the rating value for Thameside in Google's Search Results - more info
b) The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.9 out of 5 from 11 positive Reviews in the last 12 months.
a) 5 Points are available for the Average Rating of all Reviews over all time. For each review the Care Home / service is rated Excellent, Good, Satisfactory, Poor or Very Poor on a number of areas eg Staff, Management etc. The Care Home receives points for each rating as follows: Excellent = 5. Good = 4. Satisfactory = 3. Poor = 2. Very Poor = 1. These points are added up and then divided by the total number of completed ratings to generate the average rating.
The Average Rating of 4.566 for Thameside is calculated as follows: ( (106 Excellents x 5) + (49 Goods x 4) + (10 Satisfactorys x 3) + (1 Poors x 2) ) ÷ 166 Ratings = 4.566
b) 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 12 months. If there are no Positive Reviews in the last 12 months, then 2.5 points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 2 years. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with 'Extremely Likely' or 'Likely' in answer to the question 'How likely are you to recommend this Care Home to friends and family if they needed similar care or treatment?'
The 5 points available are broken down as follows:
4 points are available for the first 5 Positive Reviews, 3 points for the first Positive Review and then 0.25 Points for each of the next 4 Positive Reviews.
1 point is available for reaching a target number of Positive Reviews based on 20% of the number of registered maximum number of service users. If the target is partially reached then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home with 50 registered maximum number of service users has a target of 10 Positive Reviews, if it has 10 or more Positive Reviews it will receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews will receive 0.7 points.
If there are no Positive Reviews in the last 12 months, then 2.5 points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 2 years. The calculation is the same as above, except the points are divided by 2.
The 4.902 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Thameside is based on 11 positive Reviews in the last 12 months and is calculated as follows:
3 + 0.25 + 0.25 + 0.25 + 0.25 = 4
Target of 12.2 positive Reviews (61 registered maximum number of service users ÷ 5). 11 Reviews ÷ 12.2 Target = 0.902
When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
Thameside has a Review Score of 9.5 (9.468) from 14 Reviews

I was really worried about putting my mother into residential care but liked Thameside the moment I walked in. My mother has settled in well and on the whole, I am comfortable with the care she is receiving. She has Alzheimer's which means her needs are complex and constantly needs changing and I appreciate that this is challenging. There are some genuinely lovely carers. The food is good and everyone is friendly, kind and helpful.

My husband has been in the care of the wonderful staff at Thameside now for 3 months. It is hard to put into words the sense of relief for myself and our 3 sons to know that he is being cared for in such a friendly and compassionate place. We visit him often, but not at set times and on no occasion have we ever found a reason to be less than happy with what we see. Thameside is a cheerful, positive, spotless and nice smelling place with a genuine welcome to visitors and kindness and patience shown to the residents. The meals are tasty, varied and plentiful. But, overall, it is the staff that make the place such a success. Nothing is ever too much trouble for them. Thank you.

My brother has Parkinson's and had been a resident for just over 2 years.
Earlier this month, he was in hospital twice and was very, very unwell. He was discharged back to Thameside, much to our relief and greeted by banners and all the staff.
Their care immediately was perfect, we had meetings with them about the way forward and everything has been implemented. My brother feels safe, happy and at home.

My husband has come home today having spent 3 weeks respite care at Thameside Care Home.
He had a stroke 17 years ago and was diagnosed with vascular dementia 3 years ago.
I was in hospital having an operation.
I was so happy to see such a beautiful home.
Absolutely everyone was so kind and gentle with him.
I'm delighted to say he is so much brighter mentally and physically on his return.
Brilliant!

Interesting books in the library. The care and facilities overall were excellent. Everyone was very friendly. The only inconvenience was the night staff coming in to check at night but they were only doing their job!

Excellent care. I was so worried about my husband having respite to give me a break, but he loves it. It has given him a new lease of life. He no longer worries about the day he might need permanent care. The staff were amazing. The food was good and it was beautifully clean and nothing was too much trouble.

I came here for a rest break after severe illness both for my recovery benefit and to relieve the pressure off my family. On both fronts, the break benefited all involved.

I was looked after very well and nothing was too much trouble. However, I thought the food was very unappetising and ruined the experience.

My mother moved in October 2016 and has found it hard to settle but the care workers have all been very kind and professional, resulting in a much better experience than we had expected. I do not thnk I have had sufficient time to write a formal review but did want to express my gratitude to all the staff and especially a few and the lady on reception who has always been there with a smile and helpful advice.
