Set in charming surroundings, the skilled and compassionate team at Tiltwood provides high-quality residential and respite care for older people, including those living with dementia.

The family-oriented and welcoming care home runs a busy programme of activities, including arts and crafts, baking, gentle exercise and reminiscence sessions. On nice days, residents might browse the village shops or take a trip to a local garden or stately home.

Tiltwood care home is full of character, as part of the Surrey building dates to Edwardian times. Each bedroom is spacious and light, and in addition to cosy lounges, an activity room and hair and beauty salon, there are secure and spacious gardens outside with different interconnected areas to explore.

My husband, who suffers from Alzheimer’s, entered Tiltwood as a resident in June, having previously stayed for respite care.
Because of lockdown I was unable to visit and was a little apprehensive as to how he would respond to the carers.
I was encouraged to ring to ask about him at any time and was
always told exactly how he was responding to his new regime.
Paramedics were called a couple of times because of concerns but I was always kept fully informed of any incidents.
I have complete faith in the care my husband is receiving. The staff are always helpful and most of all cheerful. From my observations on recent garden visits, residents are treated with dignity and respect.

I have been extremely impressed with the high level of care, empathy and respect I have seen shown to residents by all the care workers at Tiltwood.
The care workers take time to get to know every resident, their likes and dislikes, so they can help them settle into their new home. They are also very
supportive to relatives and friends of the residents.
I was surprised at the level of activities held daily to keep residents entertained and they try to accommodate any requests too.
Although the rooms do not have en suite bathrooms, there are plenty of toilets close to each room. The communal bathroom in each wing is always spotlessly clean too.
There is a very warm, friendly and homely feel about Tiltwood. It is very comforting and reassuring that my friend is being so well looked after.

Tiltwood is a caring and home from home environment. My Nan was well-loved and enjoyed taking part in the day to day activities run by the staff. Being able to have a cafe-style tea was also a bit hit with her as she felt like she was still able to do a familiar thing she used to do before going to
Tiltwood.

My mother has been a resident at Tiltwood in Cobham for almost three years now, suffering as she is from the latter stages of dementia. It was a difficult decision to place her in care but it was no longer possible for my father to look after her at home, even with the help of carers. The care she is
receiving at Tiltwood is amazing and there is genuine love and affection for her from the staff. We know she is safe and well looked after - in fact I'm confident that her life has been extended by being resident at Tiltwood.
If we ever have any concerns, we know they are listened to and acted on. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend Tiltwood to other families in the same situation.

Tiltwood staff have been so kind and reassuring to myself and my mother, she has become more like her old self and she is so happy and cared for, it has made a sad and stressful family situation so much easier with all the support and help from Tiltwood's manager. Guidance, care, compassion and sensitivity.
We could not have asked for more. Thank you.

From the moment my mother arrived at Tiltwood, she has been welcomed with nothing but love, friendship, support and care. The atmosphere is relaxed, homely and stimulating with lots of smiles and laughter. The staff always make the time to engage with the residents and are supportive and attentive.
The management team have been nothing but excellent in keeping us informed and providing much-needed support, not guidance. Facilities and rooms are kept clean and well maintained. Mum's life has been very much positives enhanced by Tiltwood and we are looking forward to continuing her journey there.

My husband was admitted to Tiltwood on the 29th Dec 2017. He is still being cared for and the care that he is receiving is second to none. The family are more than satisfied with all the care and attention he is obtaining. I and my family would recommend Tiltwood to anyone that needs special care in
every aspect. I would like to add that all the carers that look after the residents give 101% to them.

Residents/relatives are made to feel at home and part of a family as soon as they enter the front door. From cleaner to manager everybody extends a warm and loving hand to every resident, making them feel valued, secure and happy. They are encouraged to be independent and participate in a variety of
activities throughout the day from dancing and singing, cookery, arts and crafts, exercises and many more. A number of external trips are also organised for those residents who wish to go, as well as relatives interested in going along.

I was extremely upset at the thought of having to move my mother into Tiltwood, however, that was very short lived as this is, in my opinion, the loveliest place she could be, which is largely due to the hard work and kindness shown by every member of staff who look after her. Everyone has time to spend with every resident, they are never too busy to sit down for a chat and share a laugh. I could not be happier with the love and care extended to my mum.

My mother has been here for over a year now and we as a family are very pleased with her care. She is happy, healthy, loved and well cared for. The staff on the unit are amazing and must make a special reference to two ladies who run the unit so well. there is always such a positive vibe in there and
the residents are treated with such dignity and love. There are two ladies do an amazing job in the day centre and mum has a lot of fun with them, doing varied activities. All the staff are lovely and it is a pleasure coming into see mum as they are so friendly. Thank you Tiltwood for listening to us and make mum as comfortable as you can.

My dad has dementia and doesn't like change, change makes him anxious. Upon being placed in Tiltwood, my dad has been calm and happy which was such a relief to me. The staff and management have been amazing, very compassionate and supportive on all levels of care.
I am very impressed and thankful
knowing my dad is getting the care he now needs. I would definitely recommend Tiltwood to others.

We have been delighted with the care my father receives at Tiltwood. He is quite obviously receiving top class care and is extremely healthy and happy. All the (permanent) staff clearly make every effort to go beyond the basic hygiene factors and make staying at Tiltwood a stimulating and enjoyable
experience. We receive quality feedback on Dad's condition and the staff regularly make changes to his customised care regime. The staff have taken the time to get to know us, as a family, and we always receive a warm welcome to this clean, happy, well-organised home. Thanks to all the team from all of us.

My dad has been a resident at Tiltwood for over 2 years now.
Due to the extremely friendly and professional staff, he settled really quickly.
Since he's been there he has maintained, and in fact increased, his sense of humour.
We are so happy that we found Tiltwood and are so pleased the staff look
after him so well!!

My nan is in the second stage of her dementia and is unable to eat and drink like we would like her to - but the staff whom are patient and caring towards her, try so hard to keep her drinking and eating. I know the time will come soon when I have to say goodbye to her and the manager at Tiltwood has
really helped me come to terms with this, so without the wonderful staff and the manager, I would be lost. They are all so fantastic and I thank them for all their help.

Mum came to Tiltwood for respite, after a fall at home and a week in hospital. The staff encouraged Mum to eat and as a result she gained 1/2 kg during her 2 weeks. Mum settled well and afterwards, spoke of how good/kind the staff were. Mum said the food was lovely! - praise indeed from someone
not eating well on arrival! Admittance/assessment was very smooth too and took the hassle out of a very stressful time. Mum is moving homes due to location needing to be nearer to me - no reflection of the care received!

My mother-in-law was in Tiltwood for three years and during that time she was looked after very well. The home was very welcoming, clean and bright. All the staff were very helpful and kind to my vulnerable and frail mother-in-law. She was very content in the home and it was because of a second hip
operation within 2 months that we had to choose a more suitable nursing home.

My mother was admitted into Tiltwood last month after a few falls in her home. It became unsafe for her to go back there. We visited Tiltwood a couple of years ago with her in mind but we weren't very impressed, what a difference 2 years make. It has been redecorated throughout and the gardens are lovely.
The staff are all so friendly and helpful and my mum is happy. Tiltwood has a warm 'home from home' feel. I am so glad my mother is there.

In the last 2 years Tiltwood has improved so much. Much needed improvements have been made: carpets, curtains and furniture being replaced. The gardens look lovely now - a lot of time and effort was spent on them lately; all the pots of flowers look cheerful. New garden furniture has replaced the shabby
old stuff. Staff continue to do sterling work in good humour. Food quality and choice is excellent.

My mother became a resident at Tiltwood this year and we could not speak too highly of the care that has been given. The staff are kind and caring and do everything possible to manage and care for the residents. The Manager, despite her busy role, always has time to speak to relatives and creates a
lovely welcoming atmosphere. The residents obviously love her and attach themselves to her if she is walking about. Mum loves the home and would not want to be anywhere else.

Current Review Score: 9.4 (9.368)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.4 (9.368) out of 10 for Tiltwood is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.8 out of 5 from 8 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.6 out of 5 from 8 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.768 for Tiltwood is calculated as follows: ( (74 Excellents x 5) + (20 Goods x 4) + (1 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 95 Ratings = 4.768
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 4.6 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Tiltwood is based on 8 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 10 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, and then 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews and then 0.1 Points for the next five Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.100, 7th = 0.100, 8th = 0.100, 9th = 0.100, 10th = 0.100) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.1 + 0.1 + 0.1 = 3.8
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 50 registered maximum number of service users is 10. 8 Positive Reviews ÷ 10 = 0.8
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
