Dorley House

My husband is looked after very well. The staff are kind, friendly and efficient. My husband always seems happy as are the other residents. The staff always do activities and there is always music on. The care home is very homely.

I am extremely happy with the care my father is receiving at Dorley House. The staff are all friendly, gentle and efficient, and provide activities for the residents. There is always a range of music playing and even an old Hammond organ in one of the lounges! The home has a bright, light feel to it and the bedrooms are modern and well equipped. It is a peaceful setting with a beautiful garden and wonderful staff. My dad is relaxed, happy and in safe hands. What more can you ask for?

Friendly staff, very helpful. They treat residents with respect and chat with them in a friendly manner. They deal kindly and calmly with residents who may be upset about anything. They always encourage residents to join in activities.

My aunt was a resident at Dorley House for five and a half years and we have always felt that she has been part of a family. The staff made it clear from the start that it was her home. The staff were always welcoming and friendly. Food and refreshments were regular and of high quality. During lockdown, the activities coordinator provided updates and photos and there were opportunities for virtual visits and planned in-person visits. Sadly in November Auntie became unwell and we cannot fault the care provided during the deterioration in her health. The compassion she received and the communication with family from the manager at this time was outstanding. We were incredibly thankful for the holistic approach taken by the team at Dorley House and for the care she received at the end of her life in her 'home'.

Mum was placed into Dorley House care home at the beginning of the pandemic so still to this day I have not been able to visit inside, however, mum had stayed in a couple of other care homes for respite and was clearly not happy in them so I was concerned having not been inside Dorley House how suitable it would be for her. It took mum a few weeks to settle and Dorley House put everything they could in place for her to help with this. Mum has now been there for 10 months and I am so happy with everything. I speak to mum regularly, the Management and the staff keep me up to date with how she is getting on with sleeping/eating etc and to top it all, the full-time activity lady goes out of her way to ensure all the residents are kept occupied which is exactly what mum needed being the busy body she is. The activity lady keeps me informed regularly about what she has been doing with mum and with the other residents and she ensures that the residents also get one to one time with her.

I cannot recommend Dorley House enough. My aunt had to be admitted there the week prior to the Covid lockdown, straight from hopital. It was very distressing not to be able to visit her for the time she was there but the home did everything they could to keep us in touch with her with telephone and Skype calls. Sadly she passed away in July but she was treated with such care and compassion during her stay. We were very impressed with the fact that the staff took time to find out her likes, dislikes, needs, hobbies etc as an individual resident. They also kept us very informed as to her condition. I will be forever grateful that during her last four months she was cared for by such a wonderful team.

The care by the entire team was exemplary. I will be forever grateful to the new manager and his excellent team for all the care they gave our mum and us.

When my mother was due to go back home she was looking forward to keeping in touch with the staff and friends she had made by going back regularly for the lunch and activity packages Dorley House offers. We all see this as a positive way for her to make the transition to becoming a permanent resident there, as everything will already be familiar and friendly to her when the time comes.

On visiting my brother at Dorley House, I immediately got the sense that my brother was in the right place. The facility was very welcoming and the staff were very attentive and respectful to my brother as well as anyone visiting. The home was extremely clean and tidy. They always made sure that my brother was taken care of with all of his needs. They provide a very safe and happy environment and work as a team. I would greatly recommend Dorley House.

I was visiting my aunt who was having respite care at this home and was pleasantly surprised by the care provided at this wonderful facility. She was treated with extreme care and most of all, made to feel comfortable. The staff were very attentive and she was made to feel at home. It was comforting to know that she was in a very safe and homely environment. I would definitely recommend this home to anyone looking for respite care. Thank you to the staff at Dorley House.

The staff at Dorley House are exactly what you hope for in carers looking after your loved ones. My grandmother had a short stay there before passing away and was very well taken care of. The staff also supported us through this difficult time, so I cannot recommend them enough.

My mother and I always felt like part of the family when we were there with dad. It gave us great peace of mind to know dad was in safe hands. I have had experience with other care homes and this one wins hands down over them in every way. I would not hesitate in recommending Dorley House to everyone.

We all wish to say a big thank you to the wonderful staff and management for the excellent care mum received while living at Dorley house. I was lucky to witness all staff happy and respectful to every resident, every day with myself and family's being offered coffee, tea, snacks and hot meals when visiting. The hospitality was always excellent, mum said the staff worked so hard. Mum was very lucky to have her GP always available to visit when requested. The day mum was very poorly, the manager sat with her until I got there and called my brothers to come in. We sat for three days by her side until mums heart gave up on Wednesday 7th September 2016. Mum called Dorley house a 'home from home' and we have had a bench installed and inscribed with these words for the staff. Dorley house, excellent Residential Home.

My parents are very pleased to call Dorley House " home" and my brothers and I are extremely happy to know that they are settled and content.
