My parents have been living at High Broom Care Home for several years. Over that time, they have become frailer both mentally and physically. The staff at High Broom have been imaginative and compassionate in caring for them as their needs have changed, treating them as individuals and making them as comfortable and secure as possible. I am very happy to know that they are in such a caring, professional environment and trust the staff to act in their best interests.

My mother went to High Broom initially for respite for a month as she had a chest infection and mild dementia and we were struggling to meet her needs in her home. It was then decided that it would be safest for her to remain there.

High Broom is fabulous for residents who are able to be downstairs and join in with the activities. So all started well, however, when, after a bout of Covid, her health and mind deteriorated and she didn’t want to leave her room we felt that she was rather ‘abandoned ‘ there. We understand she wasn’t easy as her dementia worsened, but she left there with severe dehydration, possible malnutrition and pressure sores. Her basic care needs were sadly not being met. Some of the staff are lovely, the food is very good (until it needs to be cut up for a resident) and I’m only writing this review so that others may be aware that if a resident is bed/room bound they may not receive the care and attention that they need.

We loved your home, had a walk around the grounds and activity centre, and went to the church service at 4 p.m. and they all loved it. My sister is in there for a month's respite care, she is blind and needs lots of help. The only thing she misses is her bath. If she ever needs to go into a home permanently she will choose you! We can't wait for our next visit.

My mother has been a resident at High Broom Care Home since November 2021. I am constantly grateful for the care she receives from every member of the staff and management of this wonderful home. I was recently invited to a relatives lunch and so experienced first hand the excellent quality of the food and the professionality of the staff in action. The home is more than outstanding, I wish I could rate it more than 5 stars. Excellent communication comes from the weekly 'High Broom Herald' keeping all residents and relatives up to date with the news of what has been happening and of future events planned for entertainment/care.

Hi, my mum has been at High Broom for about 2 years. The staff are very friendly,

I have no complaints whatsoever, apart from the observation that there's far too much Rhododendron ponticum in the gardens - I'm an ecologist, and it is invasive.

My mum has just recently moved into High Brooms Care Home. She has settled in really well and this has been helped by her being well cared for by the friendly kind staff. The food is excellent and daily activities are keeping her stimulated and entertained which has improved her quality of life. As a family, we can phone any time and visit easily and feel very welcome by the staff. We could not have chosen a better place for our mum to be.

My Aunt has been in High Broom Care Home since September 2021 and is extremely happy. She did have some concerns about going into a home however, High Broom has made the transition from her own home to care, an absolute pleasure. Everyone is caring and nothing is too much trouble for any of the staff who are always happy to help. I would not hesitate to recommend High Broom to anyone considering going into care.

Very positive outlook for the future. Made to feel at home.
As a non resident I have confidence my mother will be cared for and looked after which is a great relief to me.

I know my mother has put on weight which was a concern this also tends to show a contented situation.

My parents, now aged 91 and 100, have been residents of High Broom since August 2016. The standard of care given is, in my view, outstanding. Residents are treated as individuals rather than as "cases", with unfailing respect and courtesy. Staff are of a very high standard so that one can have complete confidence in their knowledge of residents' needs and preferences. On more than one occasion when there has been a major medical emergency, the standard of care was potentially life-saving. The atmosphere is very good - one immediately senses that High Broom is essentially a kind place. The quality of management and communication is excellent. I was also very impressed by the way High Broom dealt with the Covid pandemic; the safety and wellbeing of the residents was paramount. I would unhesitatingly recommend High Broom to anyone looking for a high-standard care home.

My uncle moved to High Broom in June 2021. He was previously at another care home but was terribly unhappy and deteriorating before our eyes. A friend recommended High Broom and we are so pleased that they did.
High Broom is a beautiful grand house and when you walk in the homely atmosphere makes you feel so welcome. All of the staff at High Broom are caring, welcoming and friendly and I now recommend to all of my friends, I've even joked about booking a room as its more like a hotel than a Care Home.

The welcome I receive whatever time of the day is always welcoming and refreshments are always offered. Overall my Uncle is extremely happy. What more could I wish for.

Friendly and caring staff who keep us all well informed about the weekly activities and the menu. Lovely gardens and peaceful setting. I'm sure the ability to have some of her old furniture in her room has been reassuring for my mother.

I live in New Zealand and when I came home earlier this year my Nana had moved to High Broom Care Home. They were so helpful and friendly to me. The care they give my Nana is brilliant. Lovely staff and carers. They also have an excellent Facebook page which I love as I get to see my Nana in her day to day life. She is nearly 102 so she doesn’t have a smart phone and if I can’t get her on her landline the ladies at the office will check up on her for me. I was very impressed with the level of care given at High Broom Care Home and also how they treat the family members of the residents.

My mother came to High Broom Care Home to recover from an accident prior to rehabilitation. The home is beautifully situated in the forest with lovely grounds all around it. Communication with the managers is faultless and any requests/concerns are addressed immediately. My impression is that all of the staff want the residents to be happy whilst they are there and make real efforts to ensure that their needs are met as far as possible. The atmosphere is calm and staff members appear to work well together and have a positive and facilitative attitude. There are activities twice daily. My mother's room is very small but that may be because her stay this time is temporary and it is a shame that the grounds cannot be used more for fresh air for those who cannot independently make their way about. Friends and relatives are however always supported to go outside with the person they visit if they wish. All in all a good experience in difficult circumstances.

Cannot praise High Broom Care Home enough, they are so kind and caring to all residents and I know my Mum is in the best hands. Staff are amazing always happy and available to discuss any concerns I may have. Communication is excellent as we receive a weekly e-mail with all the news of the week and activities the residents will be offered. I would definitely recommend High Broom to anyone thinking about looking for a care home for a loved one.

Mum moved into High Broom Care Home in April 2020. Since then we have been so pleased with the care given: the carers are very warm, caring and friendly and mum is treated with respect and as an individual. High Broom has a lovely happy, homely atmosphere, is spotless and well furnished and mum can look forward to a delicious menu every day as well as activities every single day of the week in the morning and afternoon. The management team is open and receptive to residents suggestions and the team works so well together with a sense of humour very much in evidence and that is shared with residents who seem very happy in their home. Mum often tells me how caring the staff are and how she is happy there. She is able to be as independent as she wishes with the knowledge that care is on hand when needed. I frequently recommend High Broom and I can think of nowhere else that I would rather have mum living.

This review updates my previous one from September 2021.
Mum continues to enjoy friendly and caring attention at High Broom Care Home. We have all been through some very trying times over the last couple of years, yet no matter how busy they may be, the staff are always ready with a kind smile and encouraging words. I could name some of the carers we see most - but that would be unfair as they are all friendly and caring and seem to take the trouble to get to know the individual residents.
Cost of care is high of course when looked at comparted to pensions, but when compared to the cost of having regular visits by carers to mum's own flat - as was the case before she came to High Broom - the cost is little more but with much more care and attention included.

Hats off too to the management team; without motivational leadership and performance management, standards can easily slip - especially during times of turmoil. I would recommend High Broom to anyone looking for high-standard care.

We have experienced nothing but kindness from every single member of staff. My mother says it's a very happy home. The communication and transparency are very good. We particularly like the feedback we as relatives get following the managers weekly meeting with the residents.
