Came in for respite care- 3 weeks wonderfully looked after- staff couldn't do enough for me. Bathroom, bedroom and communal areas- excellent. Lovely aspect and surroundings. Would not hesitate to come again. Don't feel that I am ready to come to care home permanently, as yet.
It was our pleasure to have you here at Holy Cross, I am glad you enjoyed your stay and thank you for your kinds words. You will be welcome back anytime.
Mum was only at the home for 9 days, but during that time, I cannot over emphasise the level of care and love shown to her by all the staff at the care home. The facilities were excellent and the staff could not do enough. They helped to make mum's final days as comfortable as possible.
Thank you HC to all the staff and sisters x
David, thank you so much for your taking the time to share your kind words at this difficult time. We at Holy Cross always try to ensure that we are providing care and support to the residents and their extended families in a respectful and responsive manner. Its always lovely to hear that we have achieved this. Thank you for trusting us to provide care for your Mum.
Holy Cross is an excellent service - kind, responsive, led by skilled people.
It was a painful moment when my mother understood that after a month in NHS care, she was not going home. That she would stay in Holy Cross and end her life there. In unfamiliar surroundings, with strangers, doing personal things for her.
I have worked in health care system, so not unfamiliar with what can go wrong; with what can disappoint. In Holy Cross all I saw and heard was kindness. Kindness coupled to a consistently high level of clinical and conversational skills. As a result, my mother felt heard; even when she said 'no'. I also felt heard and engaged in open and honest conversations about my mother's care. Helping to make this really difficult moment, bearable. No energy was wasted on arguing for something better; freeing my family to just be together.
I also valued the role of the Home's visiting GP and the way her expertise was integrated into the wider care team. Not always easy.
David, Thank you so much for the lovely feedback about the care your mother received at Holy Cross Care Home. We always strive to provide the highest level of support not just for the residents but for their family and friends too. Thank you for trusting us to provide this care and support for your Mum in her final days.
I never expected that my independent Mum would live in a care home . As a child she was educated by nuns in the local Catholic school and said if she had to go into a care home she would prefer to be where the nuns are . On research that was Holy Cross at Heathfield. When things got too hard to manage alone this year we found respite at Holy Cross ,and she stayed . The relief on her face when she sat in her room was so obvious . At 92 she didn't have to think anymore . The staff have been so welcoming and Mum settled in really quickly into being looked after . The team are approachable and caring . There are lovely areas for mum to sit and relax and the team arrange many activities to join in on . Mum had stopped knitting , but the home recognised she had a talent and encouraged her to knit again , great for her wellbeing. Any concerns on mums welfare are addressed and solutions fed back . It's been the best move for us all to know she looked after esp as we live some distance away
Tracey, Thank you so much for taking the time to write such a lovely review. We are so pleased that your Mum has settled in and is living a productive life here. We are proud of all of the team here and it makes us very happy to hear that people are enjoying their experience with us.
The catering offers delicious, varied food. I cannot recommend Holy Cross highly enough.
Caroline, Thank you for your kind words and fantastic feedback for the care & support we provide at Holy Cross. It means so much to the whole team. We are so pleased that you are happy with everything we offer and thank you for trusting us to continue to suppport your loved one.
My father has been at Holy Cross Nursing Home since April 2025 during this time his care has been exemplary. The nursing staff, carers, sisters and all other staff he comes into contact with are compassionate and treat him with dignity and respect. The communication from the home has been good. They call me if there is anything I need to know about my father's condition or if he is ill. One very important thing to my father, and always has been, is good quality food. The catering at Holy Cross is excellent and they adapt what is available for each resident. My father's partner joins him for lunch during the week when she can and this enables them to carry on their relationship which dramatically changed a year ago. The Sisters deserve a mention as they are so caring and arrange all sorts of activities and outings for the residents. I have no worries about the care my father is receiving at Holy Cross.

My mother is now 98 and the care home has adapted to her changing needs. She feels secure in her surroundings. I shall always be very grateful that she has been kept safe and well looked after through her advancing years.
Tina, thank you for your kind words. We are very pleased that you are happy with the care and support we provide for your mother. Your positive feedback is appreciated and we are proud of our team who make a difference for our residents every day.
The home has looked after my mother for around 10 years until her recent passing. She has been provided with excellent care and compassion. We could not have wished for more loving care. A truly exceptional home with exceptional staff.
Dear Noel, we would like to start by offering our deepest condolences for the loss of your mother. We are so proud that we had the privilege of supporting her for the last decade of her life. Thank you for your kind words and for taking the time to share your appreciation of the team's hard work and standards of care. Your words mean so much to us all. Thank You.
I was recommended this excellent care home in a care village by a nursing friend who lives nearby and I am so pleased that she recommended me to come here for 2 weeks after a 'blip' in my health. It is quite the best I have ever stayed in the area. The staff are so caring and friendly - I feel handpicked from UK and all over the world. The rooms are spacious and everything is so clean and well looked after. My mother was in care for 8 years and in those days many were not up to standard. Activities are out of this world!
Margaret, thank you so much for your wonderful words about our home. It means the world to us to receive such fabulous feedback and know you are having such a positive experience. I am so proud of the team, they are all so dedicated to what they do. We love having you as part of our Holy Cross family and hope you continue to enjoy the home and activities we provide.
The home has looked after my mother for around 3 years. She has been provided with excellent care and compassion. We could not have wished for more loving care.
Thank you for your kind review. We are honored to have cared for your mother with compassion over the past three years and are so glad we could meet your family's needs.
Each time I visit my great grandmother she tells us week in week out how the service is brilliant and Holy Cross is paradise. And that she can't fault it. She is always happy and celebrated her 100th - 103rd Birthdays here with fun and laughter.
Thank you for sharing such a lovely review. We are glad she feels so happy and cared for at Holy Cross. Celebrating her 100th to 103rd Birthdays with joy means a lot to all of us and it is a privilege to be part of these precious moments.
The best part of Holy Cross are the amazing care staff. They are universally kind, compassionate, patient and caring. My mother was hugely fond of them and they of her.
The nursing staff were also exceptional. I never ceased being impressed by how attentive and professional they were.
Thank you for your kind words. We are glad your mother enjoyed a calm, welcoming environment and took part in the activities we offer. It is especially touching to hear how much she connected with our care and nursing staff.
The staff are quite exceptional and reach out to each person with a warm and welcoming smile.
There is a real sense of community. The food is excellent and the staff offer a wide range of activities as well as organising suitable trips and excursions.
Thank you for your kind words. We are pleased to hear your mother feels cared for and part of our community. Your feedback means a lot to our team and encourages us to continue providing the best care possible with grace and compassion.
My Mum recently stayed at Holy Cross whilst she recuperated from an illness. The staff were all brilliant, made her feel really welcome and helped her settle in. The regular activities also helped her meet other residents. It was such a relief to feel that she was in such good hands.
Thank you so much for your kind words. We are delighted to hear that your mum felt welcome and well cared for during her stay at Holy Cross. We truly appreciate your feedback and wish your mum continued health and happiness.
I was already familiar with the Holy Cross facilities as my mother was resident for a couple of years in 2008/9.
In all cases it has been an exemplar of the very best kind, efficient and professional care.
On my first admission in 2023 I was amazed to find several people still working there who had looked after my mother all those years ago, and who remembered both her, and me as a regular visitor.
It is a testament to the beautiful atmosphere that staff remain so loyal for so many years, and still exhibit the same warmth, friendliness and patience.
I thank everyone from reception to cleaners, care staff to caterers, nurses to management, and of course the lovely Sisters who lead by dedicated loving and cheerful example.
Thank you for your kind and thoughtful review. We are so pleased that both your stays with us, and your mother's time here, left such a positive impression. It is heartening to hear how our long standing team and caring environment contributed to your comfort and recovery.Your recognition of the...
A very close of mine has been at Holy Cross since 2019. He moved into the residential part of the home and was made very welcome from day one.
During his time here he has always been cared for to the highest standard by friendly experienced staff. A testament to the home is that many of the staff have worked at Holy Cross for years, they are incredibly supportive and helpful. My friend struggles with communication following a stroke and the patience and understanding of those around him has been superb.
The home arranges fantastic events for the residents and their family's both on site and as external trips. This allows the residents to experience days out and mix with their family and friends. A quick note to say the quality and variety of food menu is excellent! (Very important!)
The level of care from medical to personal on a daily basis cannot be faulted. I would recommend anyone wishing to visit to see it first hand and experience the warmth and high level of professionalism.
Thank you so much for your wonderful review. We always appreciate hearing customer feedback and would like to thank you for taking the time to complete this. Your comments on our care home mean so much to us and we are very happy you have had such a positive experience. The team strive to ensure we...
Our family friend has lived at Holy Cross Care Home for the last six years.
He is exceptionally well cared for by the lovely staff who ensure he is able to enjoy activities and events on and off site.
We love visiting him and frequently enjoy meals with him onsite.
We truly appreciate you sharing this. It is wonderful to know that your family friend has found a supportive and engaging home with us over the years. We are glad you enjoy your visits and spending quality time together. Those moments are just as important to us as they are to you.
The care home is like a big family and my brother and I are always warmly welcomed when we visit.
I cannot think of a better place for a loved one to be looked after and cared for.
Thank you very much for all your care of my dad.
Dear Pippa, thank you for your review. We have a saying here "The home welcomes you and wraps its arms around you" You are part of the Holy Cross Care Home family. We strive to do our best for all of our residents and their families and I know your kind words encourage us all to continue providing the best care possible.
Holy Cross Care Home was outstanding in every aspect. We could not fault the care. It was better than any other care home I have been in and I used to work in one. My mother received wonderful end-of-life care there, which made for a good experience for the whole family and for her.
Myself and the team strive to ensure we provide the highest level of care to our residents and consider our families as part of our family at Holy Cross Care Home
Kind regards.
The first months were ok, although he never settled very well, missing his independence. After he became ill, he was diagnosed with dementia, and unfortunately, because they are residential they wanted him to leave. His care in the last few months was inadequate, and no attempt was made to meet his need to walk daily outside. Little things were neglected, such as ensuring his lights and TV were on. I was only asked to do one care review during his time there.
When he left no one said goodbye despite the fact he had spent four years as a resident onsite. We had notice to move him and after a search found a wonderful place for him where he has been very happy and content. Always smiling and so well cared for.
I'm afraid it has shown up the inadequacies of Holy Cross.
I am saddened to read that you were unhappy with the care your father received whilst staying with us.
I have taken on board your comments and will share them with the team, as we need to be able to learn from our mistakes.
Kind regards.

Jackie has worked in various care roles and nursing homes for over 30 years. She started out as a Nursing Assistant before joining the NHS to work in a unit for Elderly Psychiatric Patients. In the 1990s, she moved on to work with people who had learning disabilities; initially employed as a Care Assistant, she rose to the role of Team Leader and went on to earn her Level 3 NVQ in Health and Social Care in 2005.
Jackie’s commitment to her true passion (caring for those in later life) led her back to care homes in 2015, where she was employed as a Care Leader. Jackie soon became the Deputy Manager of a small residential care home in need of some improvement in 2016. Jackie helped to transform the home and was promoted to Manager shortly after starting.
Continuing to pursue professional improvement and growth, Jackie completed a Level 5 Diploma in Leadership and Management in 2018.
When asked what drew her to Holy Cross, Jackie described the setting as “amazing”, with a “calm and tranquil atmosphere”, stating that the home’s values were aligned with her own. Jackie hopes to “promote and maintain a positive culture within the Holy Cross Care Team, acting as a strong role model and demonstrating quality care”. Her extensive experience, along with her leadership qualifications, make her a beacon of expertise and a source of inspiration for staff looking to further their careers.
Jackie emphasised the importance of compassion, teamwork and self-reflection when asked for advice for aspiring care home managers.
