Review of Holy Cross Care Home from David H (Son of Resident) published on 25 June 2026 Submitted via Website
Overall Experience
My mother was transferred to Holy Cross from hospital, for end of life care. The administrative staff were extremely helpful in expediting this process and explaining everything. They also took up a fast track application for funding on our behalf, which they successfully obtained.
Mum was only at the home for 9 days, but during that time, I cannot over emphasise the level of care and love shown to her by all the staff at the care home. The facilities were excellent and the staff could not do enough. They helped to make mum's final days as comfortable as possible.

Thank you HC to all the staff and sisters x

Overall Experience

Holy Cross is an excellent service - kind, responsive, led by skilled people.

It was a painful moment when my mother understood that after a month in NHS care, she was not going home. That she would stay in Holy Cross and end her life there. In unfamiliar surroundings, with strangers, doing personal things for her.

I have worked in health care system, so not unfamiliar with what can go wrong; with what can disappoint. In Holy Cross all I saw and heard was kindness. Kindness coupled to a consistently high level of clinical and conversational skills. As a result, my mother felt heard; even when she said 'no'. I also felt heard and engaged in open and honest conversations about my mother's care. Helping to make this really difficult moment, bearable. No energy was wasted on arguing for something better; freeing my family to just be together.

I also valued the role of the Home's visiting GP and the way her expertise was integrated into the wider care team. Not always easy.

I never expected that my independent Mum would live in a care home . As a child she was educated by nuns in the local Catholic school and said if she had to go into a care home she would prefer to be where the nuns are . On research that was Holy Cross at Heathfield. When things got too hard to manage alone this year we found respite at Holy Cross ,and she stayed . The relief on her face when she sat in her room was so obvious . At 92 she didn't have to think anymore . The staff have been so welcoming and Mum settled in really quickly into being looked after . The team are approachable and caring . There are lovely areas for mum to sit and relax and the team arrange many activities to join in on . Mum had stopped knitting , but the home recognised she had a talent and encouraged her to knit again , great for her wellbeing. Any concerns on mums welfare are addressed and solutions fed back . It's been the best move for us all to know she looked after esp as we live some distance away

Review of Montana Care Home Grace and Compassion Benedictines from Pauline H (Daughter of Resident) published on 10 April 2026 Submitted via Website
Overall Experience

Mum moved into Montana in February following a stroke. We have been so impressed with the professional and compassionate treatment from all of the staff. Staff have gone above and beyond to ensure Mum's care needs are met undertaking additional training and liaising with family to ensure mum settles in well. The home is spotlessly clean and everything feels organised and well-managed. I am particularly impressed by how everyone has taken the time to get to know mum and to spend time just chatting to her which has really helped her with regaining her speech.

Thank you, Pauline. Your kind words mean a great deal. We will make sure your mum remains safe, comfortable, and cared for with the dignity she deserves. This work is more than a role for us it is our vocation.

I have been visiting an extremely close friend over the last two weeks and each time I am so reassured that the Sisters of Montana House are giving the best possible care. There is always a calm, friendly and peaceful atmosphere and the attention to detail of the complex needs of our friend, is exemplary. Visitors are always warmly welcomed and the room has a home from home feeling, which helps our friend feel safe and secure at all times. Compassion is the essence which gives him great support. Thank you for all you do.

Review of Holy Cross Care Home from Julie P (Daughter of Resident) published on 19 February 2026 Submitted via Website
Overall Experience

My father has been at Holy Cross Nursing Home since April 2025 during this time his care has been exemplary. The nursing staff, carers, sisters and all other staff he comes into contact with are compassionate and treat him with dignity and respect. The communication from the home has been good. They call me if there is anything I need to know about my father's condition or if he is ill. One very important thing to my father, and always has been, is good quality food. The catering at Holy Cross is excellent and they adapt what is available for each resident. My father's partner joins him for lunch during the week when she can and this enables them to carry on their relationship which dramatically changed a year ago. The Sisters deserve a mention as they are so caring and arrange all sorts of activities and outings for the residents. I have no worries about the care my father is receiving at Holy Cross.

It has been my good fortune to know Sister Thayawathy and her staff, too. My husband and myself have known the home and all its staff since 2006. My mother-in-law and two very close friends. Even now, I visit my close friend; at the surgery, I am known as "for a close friend" sadly she has no family. Care and kindness to all those living there is at a high standard. Other points are that all residents see the health staff work on a continuous basis. Their nutritional care is also of a high standard, also spiritual weeks

My mother has been at Holy Cross Care Home for over 8 years. I have found the staff to be helpful and sympathetic in all matters. It is a delightful environment both inside and out. It is always a pleasure to visit; staff and residents are relaxed and cheerful.

My mother is now 98 and the care home has adapted to her changing needs. She feels secure in her surroundings. I shall always be very grateful that she has been kept safe and well looked after through her advancing years.

Overall Experience
As a close friend of a resident at Montana Care Home, I've had the opportunity to visit regularly and see firsthand the quality of care provided. What has impressed me most is the warm, welcoming atmosphere that greets you the moment you walk through the door. The staff consistently show genuine kindness, patience, and respect, not only toward the residents but also toward visiting friends and family. It's clear that they take the time to understand each person as an individual, which makes a tremendous difference to those living there.
My friend has settled in remarkably well, and I've noticed positive changes in their confidence and overall wellbeing. The team encourages social interaction, meaningful activities, and a sense of community, which helps residents feel connected and supported. The home itself is clean, comfortable, and thoughtfully maintained, creating an environment that feels safe and homely rather than clinical.

Communication with friends and relatives is excellent,

Always so pleased with the level of care, Compassion and patience the sisters and staff show my Nan, she isn't always the easiest resident I'm sure.
They continue to support & encourage her independence and mobility where they can, even as she continues to grow weaker.
They encourage her to join group and resident activities, when she is often reluctant which she enjoys and talks about even if she hadn't wanted to participate initially.
We are kept updated about any health concerns and sent photos and videos of outings and events.
As guests/visitors we are always made to feel welcome, offered tea/coffee and opportunities to participate in planned activities.

A truly lovely, welcoming home from hom environment.

We are very pleased with the sisters'care of mum. The home is like a home and not an institution in any way. The sisters are cheerful, friendly, helpful and communicate well.Mum is quite difficult at times but they are consistently caring. All the meals are cooked for the residents. They are very welcoming to visitors and invite them and the community in for occasional meals and home cooked Indian take-away. The residents are taken out for a meal in a near-by restaurant and for summer outings.
The rooms are clean and pleasant, with a window onto attractive well-kept gardens.
The sisters are very watchful over health needs and mum is always visited by a Dr if there is any cause emerging. She has underlying health conditions but she has been kept in v good health.
There are groups that mum is encouraged to be part of in the week, and she regularly engages with chapel services.

Mum receives a daily newspaper & has tv in her room so although she is not very sociable, she has stimulation

My Mother was admitted to Montana in urgent circumstances. The Director and staff gave us great confidence that the process would be handled professionally, and indeed her move into the home was very smooth. Staff have been both efficient and caring, and they are understanding of her character and particular needs - and always kind. The outings in particular do my Mother the world of good as she needs variety and distraction.

A good care home offering very individualised care. The home is small so ideal for someone with dementia. The setting is pleasant and the rooms are near to the communal areas offering the option of moving easily between the two. The food is of a good standard and there is a good range of organized activities.
