Montana Care Home is a residential and nursing home with strong values, allowing residents to choose their own way of life and personalised support.

They provide person centred care based on respect for human dignity and the personal development of each individual to promote a secure and loving family atmosphere and care for people, regardless of their age, gender, race, ethnic origin, nationality, colour, religious persuasion or belief, cultural or linguistic background, marital status, sexual orientation, or disability. They offer long-term care but can accommodate short-term care (including respite) when there is availability.

The Home is set in a traditional single-storey house, now extended to provide spacious accommodation in the very heart of rural Suffolk near the culturally historical town of Bury St Edmunds. They have accommodation for 19 people (16 rooms - 3 of them can be used as double rooms with en-suite facilities) and provide residential care of the very highest quality to older people (male and female) who are in need of care through frailty, disability or choice.

Friends and family visit at their convenience and are able to spend as much time with their relatives as they wish.

  • RESPITE Self-Funded Residential Care: £1000 – £1200

FEES
The Home charges the current rate of fees paid by the relevant placing social/ health services. For more details about fees and the methods for paying them, please see our separate Terms and Conditions of Residency (and Financial Agreement for Self-Funders).
Residents contributions to fees (or the full amount for some who self-fund) are usually collected by four weekly standing order. The fees are reviewed each year and usually change (subject to government guidance) each April.
OUR CURRENT FEE LEVELS ARE BETWEEN
£1350 -1500 PER PERSON PER WEEK
£ 1400-£ 1500 PER WEEK FOR A DOUBLE ROOM Single occupancy
Most people are eligible for financial assistance with their fees. This can be explained in detail by the relevant Social/ Health Services Department, but typically consists of a payment from Social Services
according to their assessments of their needs, with the remainder paid by you from your benefits or from your family
Other people have more than the “minimum level of savings” (set each year by the government) which leads to them having to pay the full care home fee (they become “self-funding”). For these people the NHS help by making a small contribution to fees.
Should your circumstances change, and you can no longer meet the full level of fees, Social Services will be contacted to assess your needs which usually culminates in them paying a finite amount, the outstanding balance being met by your family.

These prices are only a guideline, please contact Montana Care Home Grace and Compassion Benedictines to find out the exact price for your requirements.

My Mother was admitted to Montana in urgent circumstances. The Director and staff gave us great confidence that the process would be handled professionally, and indeed her move into the home was very smooth. Staff have been both efficient and caring, and they are understanding of her character and
particular needs - and always kind. The outings in particular do my Mother the world of good as she needs variety and distraction.

A good care home offering very individualised care. The home is small so ideal for someone with dementia. The setting is pleasant and the rooms are near to the communal areas offering the option of moving easily between the two. The food is of a good standard and there is a good range of organized activities.

My Mother was a long term resident several years ago and I still visit friends and volunteer at Montana. It is a wonderful carehome with exceptionally caring staff and Sisters. Nothing is too much trouble and residents have nothing but praise and are really happy there. It has a real home from home
atmosphere and is extremely well led. There are various activities for the residents and outings are also arranged. I would not hesitate to recommend Montana to anyone requiring care.

After a fall at home and attend A & E at hospital for an x-ray, I was a resident in Montana Care Home on respite care. During my stay I was looked after well with exceptional care and attention. My individual needs were catered for and nothing was too much trouble for management and staff. I don't know
how I would have coped without the help of Montana Care Home.

My sister in law was recently in need of respite after a hospital stay, and she was treated so well at Montana Care Home. The attention to her every need was adhered to with such care and love. It was very comforting to know that my sister in law was so well cared for when we couldn't be there for her.

Montana held the funeral for my late father, the chapel service was very special and a superb spread was laid out for a small gathering. The sisters helped us in every way possible and this memory will remain with me always. My father had been a resident at Montana for about 5 months.

When you walk into Montana Care Home, you walk into a family home. The Sisters and staff make everyone feel safe, cared for and included. The sitting room is comfortable and relaxed and there is a well-stocked library.

The food is really, really good, and the atmosphere in the dining room is fun

and relaxed with lots of conversation.

Outings around and about Bury St Edmunds are frequent and well organised, alongside events at the home like the recent VE Day celebration party which was really well attended with residents, friends and sisters enjoying the sunshine, music and celebratory food and drinks.

The home has a beautiful rose garden to the front surrounded by a flowering rosemary hedge. Lovely, tranquil gardens surround the home, including an 600 year-old oak tree annd lots of wildlife, and there's a pretty courtyard in the centre.

Montana is a truly wonderful home.

It all started with a Oakampton house.
Mum lived there for two years and during that time she was always acknowledge by all this Sisters making it's a lovely friendly community.
When Mum needed more care I had the support from Montana. It was a very smooth transaction. From Oakampton to Montana.
The care for my mum is 24/7, and nothing is too much trouble. They have got to know my mum, her like and her dislikes, and it is a pleasure for me to go in and see her smile on her face, ever time l see her. She is very happy, calm and contented.
It has been a blessing in disguise that we had moved to Oakampton .
I myself enjoy my visits to Montana as they are all one big happy family every single one of them from the gardener to the manager.
Who is the main heart of a successful carehome .

  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 5.0 out of 5 from 52 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.852 for Montana Care Home Grace and Compassion Benedictines is calculated as follows: ( (519 Excellents x 5) + (79 Goods x 4) + (5 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 603 Ratings = 4.852
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 5 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Montana Care Home Grace and Compassion Benedictines is based on 52 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 4
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 19 registered maximum number of service users is 3.8, which has been reached with 52 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
