Montana Care Home is a residential and nursing home with strong values, allowing residents to choose their own way of life and personalised support.

They provide person centred care based on respect for human dignity and the personal development of each individual to promote a secure and loving family atmosphere and care for people, regardless of their age, gender, race, ethnic origin, nationality, colour, religious persuasion or belief, cultural or linguistic background, marital status, sexual orientation, or disability. They offer long-term care but can accommodate short-term care (including respite) when there is availability.

The Home is set in a traditional single-storey house, now extended to provide spacious accommodation in the very heart of rural Suffolk near the culturally historical town of Bury St Edmunds. They have accommodation for 19 people (16 rooms - 3 of them can be used as double rooms with en-suite facilities) and provide residential care of the very highest quality to older people (male and female) who are in need of care through frailty, disability or choice.

Friends and family visit at their convenience and are able to spend as much time with their relatives as they wish.

FEES
The Home charges the current rate of fees paid by the relevant placing social/ health services. For more details about fees and the methods for paying them, please see our separate Terms and Conditions of Residency (and Financial Agreement for Self-Funders).
Residents contributions to fees (or the full amount for some who self-fund) are usually collected by four weekly standing order. The fees are reviewed each year and usually change (subject to government guidance) each April.

Most people are eligible for financial assistance with their fees. This can be explained in detail by the relevant Social/ Health Services Department, but typically consists of a payment from Social Services
according to their assessments of their needs, with the remainder paid by you from your benefits or from your family
Other people have more than the “minimum level of savings” (set each year by the government) which leads to them having to pay the full care home fee (they become “self-funding”). For these people the NHS help by making a small contribution to fees.
Should your circumstances change, and you can no longer meet the full level of fees, Social Services will be contacted to assess your needs which usually culminates in them paying a finite amount, the outstanding balance being met by your family.

I visit Montana Care Home regularly and find the atmosphere there very calm, peaceful and very supportive towards the residents. Residents are always happy and relaxed and speak highly about the facilities, care they receive, attention to health and well-being, food and drink and leisure activities.
I have observed the staff and Sisters are friendly, competent and resident-centred always and well led by the in-house registered manager. Montana Care Home regularly achieves the "5 Star Outstanding" Award from CQC and is certainly among the very best of care homes in the country.

I can wholeheartedly recommend this wonderful and comfortable care home. It is managed to the highest standards and is lovely in every respect. I visit regularly, and there is such a nice peaceful atmosphere and supportive care. It is excellent on all fronts. I love going there to visit and seeing how
happy my elderly relatives are, now they are living there. Their health has definitely improved since they moved in. That is because it is such a lovely place with such wonderful care.

My mother has been a resident at Montana for 15 months, during which time her care needs have increased significantly. The care team continue to proactively respond to all mother's needs and are very attentive to her specific requirements. Mother looks forward to mealtimes and always enjoys the food
which she is served. The manager and her team made a great effort to celebrate the Queen's Platinum Jubilee and organised a really lovely garden party for residents, relatives, friends and staff. We are enormously grateful to all at Montana for the TLC and the peace of mind which comes from knowing that Mother is being so well cared for and for the support and reassurance provided to my family members.

My aunt arrived at Montana Care Home in February 2022, and she appears to have settled well.
I found the staff to be professional, thoughtful, and extremely considerate to both residents and visitors alike.
The home and grounds are well maintained and my aunt's room has a lovely homely feel to it.
The chapel is beautiful and the library offers a quiet space for residents to enjoy.

My uncle is very well cared for, and he also realises this. A good balance has been struck between giving him personal choice and freedom and providing him with care. His mental and physical states have very much improved since he has been a resident.
He enjoys the food and also mealtimes in the company
of other residents and is always very keen to get to the dining room. He has also made friends with other residents. He is fond of some members of staff.
He can get about the residence with his frame, and I believe has made use of the library.
He goes to Mass most Sundays and this facility is important to him.
There is very good flexibility for my visits.

My mother has been in Montana for over 2 years, she was quite unwell in this time. But she was cared for with compassion. She is very settled in the home. Covid has been a difficult time for everyone but Montana protected everyone with no cases

My aunt joined the home in the month of January 2022. We have visited so many care homes but my aunt chose this care home because she chose Montana out of all the other care homes she visited. Last two months I have been visiting my aunt she looks really happy and says that the sisters and the staff
are very caring and compassionate and they are available 24/7. The food is excellent and the sisters and the staff are friendly and understanding. They meet all the needs of the residents. I myself experienced the warmth and the support they give to the residents and the family members. The home is a very peaceful and homely atmosphere. I am very happy that I found this home for my aunt. The service is more than excellent. I strongly recommend this home to those who are looking for a better care home.

The staff are always there to take phone calls and be notified when I want to visit. Cleanliness and COVID19 safety has always been paramount. It is a shame there are not many activities for the residents and we hope with spring on the way and less restrictions more things can be arranged. The discipline
of daily mass and prayers is there for those who wish to join in. All meals are freshly prepared and tasty.

Montana has excelled in the care provided to Mother, both whilst she was mobile and whilst receiving end-of-life care.
The highest level of COVID controls and distancing gave an assurance that there was no likelihood of the introduction of COVID to the home, to affect either Mother, residents or staff.

I am happy here. The food is excellent, the laundry is hand done and perfect. There is no COVID virus in Montana so far and it is safe. They are spiritually sustained and attended to always. The care manager and the other sisters care about us. Montana is fantastic.

I am very happy in Montana. The carers look after me very well. I have a comfortable room and bed and I am well looked after by the staff and sisters. I am 99 years old and I have been living here for many years and am very happy. Thank you for all your care.

I am a resident here in Montana, in my 12th year, and I am extremely happy. The manager, her sisters, and staff have kept us all safe during this pandemic, by using strict measures and we have not had a single case of Covid. The care manager was awarded the Lord Lieutenant of Suffolk's Special Certificate
of Merit for her work and that of her team during the Covid Pandemic. They all hold the residents in the palm of their hands, and nothing is too much trouble for them. They know our likes and dislikes individually, which is comforting for all the residents. One of the residents will be 100 in June, and another resident will be 100 in January, and the love and care given to them have been a contributory factor in their longevity. The end-of-life care given to residents is exceptional and helps to prolong their lives, much to the delight of their families. Montana Care Home has been awarded an outstanding grade by the Care Quality Commission, and this is thoroughly well deserved.

My mum is very comfortable and happy with Montana and I am so happy! I can visit her and she is relaxed and we can enjoy the visit and each other (secretly for the first time). I'm so happy, she has lived so long to let us get to this, now she has let go of having to be the housewife, mother and wife
and is enjoying time for herself. I hope this can be as long, healthy and happy as possible.
