Overview

The Review Score of 7.9 (maximum of 10) for Whitebriars is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  • a) The Average Rating is 4.3 out of 5 from 4 Reviews over all time. This Average Rating is also the rating value for Whitebriars in Google's Search Results - more info

  • b) The score for the number of positive Reviews is 3.6 out of 5 from 2 positive Reviews in the last 12 months.

Detailed Breakdown

  • a) 5 Points are available for the Average Rating of all Reviews over all time. For each review the Care Home / service is rated Excellent, Good, Satisfactory, Poor or Very Poor on a number of areas eg Staff, Management etc. The Care Home receives points for each rating as follows: Excellent = 5. Good = 4. Satisfactory = 3. Poor = 2. Very Poor = 1. These points are added up and then divided by the total number of completed ratings to generate the average rating.

    The Average Rating of 4.271 for Whitebriars is calculated as follows: ( (22 Excellents x 5) + (17 Goods x 4) + (9 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 48 Ratings = 4.271

  • b) 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 12 months. If there are no Positive Reviews in the last 12 months, then 2.5 points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 2 years. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with 'Extremely Likely' or 'Likely' in answer to the question 'How likely are you to recommend this Care Home to friends and family if they needed similar care or treatment?'

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 5 Positive Reviews, 3 points for the first Positive Review and then 0.25 Points for each of the next 4 Positive Reviews.

    2. 1 point is available for reaching a target number of Positive Reviews based on 20% of the number of registered maximum number of service users. If the target is partially reached then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home with 50 registered maximum number of service users has a target of 10 Positive Reviews, if it has 10 or more Positive Reviews it will receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews will receive 0.7 points.

    3. If there are no Positive Reviews in the last 12 months, then 2.5 points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 2 years. The calculation is the same as above, except the points are divided by 2.

The 3.635 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Whitebriars is based on 2 positive Reviews in the last 12 months and is calculated as follows:

    1. 3 + 0.25 = 3.25

    2. Target of 5.2 positive Reviews (26 registered maximum number of service users ÷ 5). 2 Reviews ÷ 5.2 Target = 0.385

  • When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.

7.9 Whitebriars has a Review Score of 7.9 (7.906) from 4 Reviews

My mother has been at Whitebriars for almost five years. At first she found the loss of independence difficult. However, the staff were very caring and supportive of the whole family in the transition period and her health and well being improved immediately. I cannot praise the staff enough. They go out of their way to ensure residents keep active by providing activities to stimulate and there are regular trips on the mini bus.
Residents are kept clean and tidy and the staff seem to understand every individual's needs, likes and dislikes!
The family is kept informed of any issues and we are always welcomed when we visit. Whitebriars has a homely feel to it.

I visited Mum on a Friday afternoon. The lounge was crowded as the dining room floor was being renewed and the tables were squashed into the lounge. However, all the residents were in good spirits and chatting before playing bingo. The staff were very good despite the difficulties of constricted space and the fact that the residents were unaffected by the change speaks volumes for the way they are handled by staff. A very enjoyable visit with a couple of cups of tea. Thanks to all the staff for the way they look after Mum and their openness and friendliness.

Lynda Dewhurst, Director at Whitebriars responded to this review on 28 Jul 2017:

We are always striving to improve the environment at our homes, we are glad that even with the disruption, your visit was enjoyable and our lovely residents were unaffected.

Mum needed to be moved to a nursing home due to ill health. We were sad that she had to leave. Throughout her stay the Manager and the team showed nothing but genuine warmth and respect for her. They had organised for her to come to my wedding in May by wheelchair and with carer. No hassle for them! They even packed her belongings and transported her stuff to the new home, saving my elderly Dad the stress. An absolutely excellent care home.

I find this care home very friendly and concerned. The staff are good natured, friendly and smile most of the time. There is a varied programme of activities. Bus trips 2 - 3 times a week, musical afternoons, quizzes and games.
Tea and coffee are given regularly throughout the day. The rooms are clean they vary in size and in furnishings.
Seaside and promenade are only two minutes away.
