The care, patience and understanding shown towards my father at Whitebriars have been outstanding. During the time he has been settling in, Dad has often been angry, upset and awkward - all of the staff have taken the time to reassure him and give him the dignity he so needed. He is now happy and settled.
Reply from Poppy Bellchambers, Executive head of Outcomes and Placements at WhitebriarsThank you so much for your kind words, I will of course ensure I hand over these lovely comments to the rest of the team at Whitebriars.

Whitebriars held a Jubilee party for all residents and families on the 2nd of June. We thought that the live music and setting were fabulous. We thought the food, staff and management got the party going. We (my husband and I) gave the day a 100% score.
Reply from Lynda Dewhurst, Director at WhitebriarsThank you for your kind words. It was great to have our first family and friends get together in two years. I think everyone was in the mood to party.

My mum moved into the home in December 2021 after living with us for three years. The staff at the home were brilliant in making mum's transition (and mine) as easy as possible. Since then mum has received fantastic care from all of the staff, as well as from the local GP practice. All of her needs
are regularly assessed and where needed the care and support are amended to meet them. The care home feels like a home, mum feels safe and relaxed and enjoys the company being within a home brings. I am also made to feel really welcome and able to visit when I want each week. The staff are the stars, they show care and compassion for the residents, learning their individual likes and dislikes and giving the residents one to one time regularly. They always keep me well informed in a timely manner of any details I need to be made aware of. I would not hesitate to recommend the care home for respite or long term care.
Reply from Lynda Dewhurst, Director at WhitebriarsThank you for your kind words, we will pass this on to our staff team. It is lovely to have your Mum in the Whitebriars family.

I would like to thank all staff at Whitebriars for their care of my wife during a particularly turbulent time of her dementia, they were considerate and patient and assisted greatly in settling her and making her feel at home during her time there. Thanks again from a grateful husband.

So impressed by the exemplary service provided by the whole team at Whitebriars! I was worried initially about placing Mum into respite as we'd had such a bad experience at another home, but the team reassured me, gave us a choice of rooms and were so patient when I reeled off a million questions! Mum
settled in quickly, and things went so well that she has since become a permanent resident. Every single member of staff I've spoken to is friendly and approachable and knows exactly who Mum is and what she's been up to that day and are able to update me and let me know what activities she's involved in. Since being at Whitebriars, Mum's confidence has grown noticeably, she's made friends with the other residents and has been so much happier. It's so difficult making decisions on a loved one's behalf, especially when such big changes in their personality are happening and when you feel like an emotional wreck yourself, but we saw the benefits of Mum's stay at Whitebriars immediately.
Reply from Lynda Dewhurst, Director at WhitebriarsThank you so much for your kind words. We love having Mum as part of the Whitebriars family. We shall pass on all of your comments to the staff.

My mother in law has recently moved into Whitebriars and so far seems very happy. When talking to my mother in law she seems very relaxed and is loving life living with other people. She is very happy with the care she is receiving so far from staff. I have visited Whitebriars several times and I am
very impressed with what I’ve seen so far. All residents seem very happy, staff are always very welcoming and the rooms are lovely. I would happily move in myself!
Reply from Lynda Dewhurst, Director at WhitebriarsThank you for your kind words. We are really pleased your mother in law is enjoying her time with us and particularly enjoying sharing time with the other residents.

Whitebriars offers a warm and homely atmosphere that is evident from the moment the door opened. The decor is light and cheerful and the staff (from the management to the domestic helpers) are friendly and kind. The carers definitely "go the extra mile" to ensure that our loved ones are treated with
dignity, kindness, and affection. All in all first class.

The most stand-out thing about Whitebriars is the care and dignity that the residents are treated with. Not being close to Bexhill, this takes all the worry of having an elderly relative with some health issues away, knowing that they are being cared for properly. The activities and mini-bus trips make
all the difference to the well-being of Mum. You are always given a warm welcome when you visit and the phone is always pleasantly answered.
Reply from Lynda Dewhurst, Director at WhitebriarsThank you for your kind words. We are pleased to say we are now back to getting out on mini bus tours for our residents to enjoy.

Whitebriars demonstrate a level of care and empathy that's refreshing to see in these uncertain times. They have kept the residents safe and comfortable - my mother is very happy there. Pre-booked visits for the named visitors are well-organised and feel very Covid safe. After the face-to-face visit,
I was able to look through the lounge window and see the amazing tea and cake selection laid on for their VE day celebration - everyone seemed to be enjoying themselves.

My stepfather moved into Whitebriars in September 2020 after an initial period, a big change to him. He settled well, unfortunately, due to Covid, we cannot go into the home to visit, but we do window visits where I call the home and we speak by phone and see each other through the window; this has
worked well. The home always has different activities going on, something to suit everyone and most importantly, staff are efficient and friendly.

I have admiration for the carers, they go above and beyond. Sadly I can't extend this gratitude to the management or owners if you have cause to complain. My father made this his home and we will be grateful for that at least.

Choosing Whitebriars was a huge decision. Having lost both my father and my aunt to dementia I knew what I was looking for for my mother-in-law.
- Caring staff who connected well with residents and wanted to know them and who they were
- frequent and meaningful activities
- homely atmosphere
-
not large
- nice location
On visiting Whitebriars, we had a very good feeling about it and have not been in any way disappointed 12 months on. There are minibus trips 2 or 3 times a week, depending on the season, pub lunches, visits to castles, the fish farm, cream teas, walks out to the seafront for ice creams as well as 1 to 1 time. My mother-in-law recently went out to make a Christmas wreath with a member of staff. It now graces the front door and she couldn't be more proud. Craft and cooking activities take place in house as well, a variety of entertainers and animals also visit on a regular basis. She has company, a sense of home, things to do and people around her who genuinely care about her when we can't be there. The food is really good too.

Having moved my mother from another care home to Whitebriars a year ago, we are delighted with the progress she has made under the care of the manager and his team. There is a genuinely homely feel and excellent caring staff. My mother gets to participate in a wide range of activities, various crafts,
cooking (her first-ever pizza) and trips out on the minibus. She has settled very well and made many friends. It's close to the seafront and she loves going for walks along the there when we visit.

My husband first went to the care home on a daily basis. (Day Centre.)

Current Review Score: 9.7 (9.691)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.7 (9.691) out of 10 for Whitebriars is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.9 out of 5 from 10 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.8 out of 5 from 10 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.941 for Whitebriars is calculated as follows: ( (111 Excellents x 5) + (7 Goods x 4) ) ÷ 118 Ratings = 4.941
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 4.75 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Whitebriars is based on 10 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 = 3.75
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 26 registered maximum number of service users is 5.2, which has been reached with 10 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
