Mum has lived at Whitegates happily for the past 5 months and likens it to a 'Country Hotel for the elderly'. She enjoys her friendships and conversations with the other residents during mealtimes in the dining room, as well as the food! She also partakes in some of the various activities provided in the lounge and who knew she was so competitive! Mum speaks warmly about the lovely care team who make her feel happy, safe and settled in her new forever home. When visiting we always find Michelle and her care team helpful and friendly. As a family we are really pleased to now see mum enjoying and embracing this new phase of her life. We would certainly recommend Whitegates to anyone who finds themselves needing to place their loved one into either respite or long term care.

One additional need would be lasagna on the menu, not too many arts and craft sessions.

Whitegates continues to improve. My Mum has been here for about 7 years. I would say that Whitegates has improved greatly in the last 18 months. The manager is excellent. She has introduced the gold standard recently and the staff explained this well to residents and relatives. Also excellent chef and his staff! The manager works hard and ensures that everything runs to a good standard, now it seems to be running at its best. The residents I see in the lounge seem settled and happy and I often chat with them all. Regular patient reviews are excellent.
Thank you so much for your lovely review. We greatly appreciate your kind words and I will share your comments with the team.
I have recently moved into Whitegate and I am very happy and settled. The care provided is excellent and from living on my own for a long time I feel really happy and at home.
Thank you for your review of Whitegates, we are so pleased that you have made Whitegates your home and it's so lovely to see that you have settled well and enjoying your new home.
From the moment we first physically saw Whitegates, there was a positive feeling. We were warmly met, invited to join in the afternoon's activities offered great coffee and cake, and were shown around the home and grounds - we were taken aback! The decision where to place Mum was suddenly so simple. Now, a resident for a few weeks, there is no looking back. The staff are simply brilliant, and the entire home is spotless and truly homely. Long may it last!
Thank you so much for your lovely review. We greatly appreciate your kind words, and I will share your comments with the team.
My aunt has been a resident since February 2023. She is extremely well cared for and nothing seemed to be too much trouble by all the staff who are caring and considerate. The ambience in the home is excellent and so is the food, this also applies to other residents.

I have a very comfortable, spacious room with delightful views over farmland. The food is excellent with plenty of choice. Having lived alone most of my life, I am enjoying the company of other residents and staff. Most of all I commend the high standards and quality of the accommodation with the warmth and friendliness of the staff. Homeliness of the highest quality.
Many thanks once again for taking the time to complete the review of our home and yours.
We went to the Christmas party which was fantastic. The singer entertained at the summer BBQ and is a regular visitor, he didn't disappoint this time. Fantastic food, wine and company. My dad and the other residents were all having a lovely time. The staff are always active and inclusive. They made sure no-one was left alone ad did the volunteers.
Many thanks once again.

The staff provide excellent 24-hour care and always keep me informed about my mum, which is very important to me as I do not live nearby. Altogether a brilliant care home.
Thank you for completing this review for Whitegates, we are pleased that Mum has decided to stay with us and that she has started to settle and make Whitegates her home. We are pleased that this gives you peace of mind knowing that Mum is in a much safer environment. I will share all...
I prefer not to recommend anything to other people. Very unwise. I do not have any experience with other homes so it is difficult to judge. However, I have been satisfied. Carers are good. The Interior of the building is well kept. Outside is a wonderful country situation. The other night I was very unwell and the care for me was excellent. Normal daily activities are well chosen and we can always make suggestions.
Fun activities in the afternoon. Lovely location and building. Very friendly and helpful staff. I am very well looked after. I get a bit lonely in the evenings as everyone goes to bed.
Thank you so much for this lovely review and comments, we are pleased that you feel safe and at home at Whitegates early into your journey with us. We are pleased that you are enjoying the activities too. I have advised the activities team regarding the evenings to see what they can suggest/support for you.
Mum has been looked after with care and attention from her first arrival. Carers are kind and thoughtful with many more senior carers having been there throughout. Meals have now significantly improved with an excellent new chef.
Thank you for this positive review, Brenda, we are very pleased that you are happy with the care and treatment that Mum receives at Whitegates, I will share your review/comments with the team.
She enjoys the variety of activities and had been in a small discussion group a few days ago and she said she "felt so alive" talking about historical things and different subjects. Mum has also put on weight, much to our delight, as she was just like a little sparrow. Good food too. Mum loves the people that work in the home and also the volunteers -everyone is so thoughtful.
Mum is always laughing and, at 96, she feels that she has a new lease of life. Everyone is treated as individuals with different personalities and needs and there is a wide variety of things to do to satisfy all.
The rooms are beautiful, the garden and the setting delightful.
Thank you, Pam, for your review of our home and the care that Mum is receiving at Whitegates, we are so pleased that Mum is enjoying herself and lovely to hear and see that she has found new energy to join in with all the activities and is also interacting well with the other residents and staff....
Mum finds the meals delicious with lots of variety and well cooked.
The special afternoons such as Filliapno day and teddy bear picnic are fantastic and I enjoy hearing all about them. Overall Mum is very happy at Whitegates so her family are delighted.
Thank you so much for completing this review for us, we are all very pleased that Mum is enjoying her time at Whitegates, and its good to know that she is sharing these details with you during your visits, I will make sure that the activities team and the chefs are aware of your comments.
The care and attention given to my aunt was very important to me as I was living so far away from the home. The staff kept me informed of any changes in my aunt, and the phone calls between us were always met with reassurance that my aunt had settled into the home and with the other residents.

Meet the Team (5)

Michelle has over twenty years of experience within the care industry. Michelle Joined Greensleeves Care in 2009 and joined the team at Whitegates in 2024.
Michelle believes that the resident always comes first, and we aim to deliver high standards of care and maintain their independence in doing so.

I joined Whitegates in 1997 as a care assistant and then became a senior care assistant once I completed my NVQ L3.
I believe in providing a very good standard of care to our residents, I particularly enjoy the satisfactory rewards received upon doing this.

that all their needs are met; I work with a fantastic team of staff supporting each other. When I’m not working I enjoy gardening,
walking my dog, spending my time with my family, enjoying holidays on the Spanish islands and going out with friends for meals.

Being a senior carer can be challenging role but also one of the most rewarding and fulfilling jobs, for me it’s a way of life, and not just a job. Whitegates is my second home, we work hard as a team in providing our residents a healthy, comfortable and safe place to live.

I love working at Whitegates as it is has a great family atmosphere. We are very supportive to each other, our residents and their families. We have many events at Whitegates for relatives, residents and staff to mix socially giving lots of hilarity and wine. I like cycling, running and have a hectic social life with friends.
