My cousin with learning disabilities was placed here following a long spell in hospital with a broken arm. He has very limited language ability.
On our two visits, we were very impressed with the thoughtful, friendly care he is being given, the number of activities he now takes part in and his obvious
enjoyment of life at Whitecliff.
It was wonderful to see him so settled and content. Many thanks.

During his time at Whitecliff, my son was well looked after by the dedicated staff there. Although seriously ill, he was happy to be at a home that cared about him and appreciated the time and attention he received from all the staff, as did we his family. Special thanks to the staff as well as to the
management at the home. RIP my son.

My wife entered Whitecliff when a fall reduced her mobility and increased her level of dependence. The staff very quickly assessed her needs and got to know her and her interests. They worked hard to gain her confidence so they could transfer her to a wheelchair, giving her access to varied activities
downstairs, visits to the park and trips in the minibus. The fall and hospitalisation had set her back, but once here she regained real quality of life and she often tells me "the people here are so kind". It is always apparent that the staff are genuinely fond of her. They quickly got to know me too - they keep me well informed and often seek me out on a visit to tell me about a piece of news or an achievement. When I went through the stage of struggling to accept that I couldn't do the caring myself, they were very supportive. I feel like a welcomed part of the Whitecliff "family". I am confident that I have found the best possible place and would recommend Whitecliff unreservedly.

My mother has resided at Whitecliff since December 2021. The care she has received has been excellent. The staff are very caring and friendly and the home is well managed. We are kept informed of any issues relating to the care. My mother feels safe and well cared for and is enjoying the range of activities
at the home.

I have been really delighted with how my husband has been treated and also me. I find the staff here all to be so cheerful, they treat everyone with the utmost respect you could not ask for more. The cross I have put in food and drink is when I pass the dining room there is always someone enjoying their
meal.

I find the care and support given to my sister to be very kind and loving and she is happy and responsive to all the staff. The food is good, I know this as I have eaten there myself. And the general standard is overall very good.

Last July my life hung on a thread but my friends and I can only exclaim with gratitude at all Whitecliff has done to improve things. Both genders of staff have been helpful and gone beyond the call of duty. Efficiency is notable and all visitors are made to feel welcome. Meals are tasty and benefit
from varied menus. I cannot recommend this lovely home too highly. I really enjoy my time and every day I am grateful to be here at Whitecliff.

This is a terrible home and should be closed down! My aunt was in this home and whenever we visited she never had any underwear or toiletries, and there was never any drink in her room. When we asked the staff where are her things, they could not answer. We had to replace her personal belongings many
times. My aunt has now had a terrible fall in this care home and is not going to recover from this. My aunt would telephone and complain all the time that a lady was coming into her bedroom and hitting her. When we complained to the staff they did nothing to stop this from happening. How can CQC rate this home as GOOD?

We are very sorry to hear your aunt is not recovering well from her fall, we take all complaints seriously and most importantly we ensure safety of our residents is paramount. Any accidents or incidents that occur in the Home are investigated and reported to CQC, ASC and RIDDOR when appropriate, please contact the Home if you wish to have access to any of these reports to reassure you appropriate care was being given and risks were managed in the most effective and least restrictive way possible. Once again we are thinking of you all during this difficult time.

My mum moved into Whitecliff Residential Care Home in December, having had a bad experience in a previous home. It's just such a lovely home. The staff are kind, considerate and caring and my lovely mum is being looked after so well. Thank you.

Having had to move our Mum from another care home, we cannot believe the difference in care. Whitecliff go above and beyond. Mum always looks so lovely. There is always a huge range of daily engaging activities. We love seeing what the residents' are doing and this is always very evident on the Coast
Care website. This has been invaluable during the pandemic. I just wish we had found this loving care home first. Staff are wonderful and nothing is ever too much trouble. Can’t thank everyone enough for giving our Mum the love and care she deserves.

My mum really thought it was a wonderful place to be. Kind, caring and patient staff. For me and my brother, this was reassuring and the staff kept us informed in these difficult times. We can't thank the staff enough, they are all amazing and lovely.

All the staff are so caring. They give one-to-one sessions as well as communal activities and individual needs are well met. The family are kept well informed and the regular photos on the website have been a great bonus throughout the lockdown. Knowing my husband was so well cared for throughout the
covid crisis has been very reassuring.

We find visits difficult as there is no real verbal communication with the resident we visit but are pleased to see him in a clean, friendly environment, being cared for by attentive staff who are welcoming to us and seem happy doing their jobs.

My mother has been a resident at Whitcliff for some six months now. It is never ideal placing a loved one into a care facility, but the staff at Whitecliff, take such good care of my mother; it is a blessing. Mum is as happy as she can be, she considers several of the staff, as family. She is comfortable,
well cared for and relaxed. I couldn't ask for more.

Everyone at Whitecliff (carers, domestic staff, and management) are lovely. Nothing is too much trouble for them and they looked after Mum with so much care. The home has a lovely friendly vibe and there are always a lot of activities going on. I am sad that Mum needed to move to a nursing home as I
had begun to think of everyone as family and trusted them to look after Mum.

Lynda

Lynda Dewhurst

Job Title: Owner Joined: 2003

Lynda, alongside her husband Kevin, started the company in 2003 when they purchased Whitebriars.


Lynda has been involved with the shaping of Coast Care Homes since the beginning and has been a driver in ensuring the homes are welcoming and have a homely feel. Lynda has been integral in helping to ensure the company has a positive Social Media presence, which has contributed massively towards the excellent reputation that Coast Care Homes have in the East Sussex area.


Lynda’s day-to-day involvement is in guiding the Activities & Outcomes team, to ensure Coast Care Homes sets itself apart from other local homes in the area, by providing Outstanding Outcomes. Lynda is also heavily involved in planning regular Staff Appreciation events, ensuring that staff feel valued when working for Coast Care Homes and improving staff retention.

Kevin

Kevin Dewhurst

Job Title: Owner Joined: 2003

Kevin, alongside his wife Lynda, started the company in 2003 when they purchased Whitebriars. Before this, Kevin had spent most of his career in the construction industry, before he decided he needed a career change.


Whilst Kevin did not have a background in care before this, Kevin quickly identified the areas of care that were failing and made it his mission to ensure Coast Care Homes Ltd was a leader in providing innovative outcomes and outstanding person-centred care. Kevin has been ever-present at all services and supports the management teams daily, offering experience and guidance.


Kevin’s inspiration came from David Sheard from Dementia Care Matters, and the ethos instilled by Kevin is present in all the services.

Bill

Bill Poore

Job Title: Operations Manager Joined: 2012

Bill started with Coast Care in September 2012, starting at Whitecliff Care Home as a Care Assistant. Bill joined Coast Care after caring for his grandad who suffered from Dementia & Parkinson’s Disease.


Bill has a Level 5 Degree in Health & Social Care and has worked in several roles within the company, including as Manager at Coast Community Care, Whitebriars and Coast Care Centre. Bill has helped to foster a caring culture within the homes and has helped to develop processes that allow the Coast Care Culture to be given to clients who have Complex Nursing needs.


Bill’s strengths are in his focus on promoting high revenues and increasing profitability, contributing to increased revenue streams across the services managed.


Bill is currently involved in an Operational sense for all the services, however, he has day-to-day involvement with Coast Care Centre & Coast Community Care, supporting the management teams at these services.

Danielle

Danielle Henderson

Job Title: Operations Manager Joined: 2010

Danielle Henderson has worked for Coast Care Homes for over 13 years. From the start of her employment with Coast Care, she has always shown great passion, empathy, and loving support to those she has cared for.


This approach has translated to other relationships with residents' families, health professionals and staff teams. Danielle has risen from a carer role to Team Leader, Deputy Manager, Home Manager and now an Operations Manager.


Danielle is a fantastic communicator and motivator, she spends many hours in constant supervision building her management and staff teams and helping them to deliver an extremely high level of person-centred care. She ultimately though, has a very special and consistent relationship with her residents, always trying to discover more of their own unique personalities and working hard with her staff and activities teams to connect and meet all their emotional and physical needs.


Danielle has helped to foster efficient and hardworking teams, whose primary focus is ensuring that the residents have the best lived experience. Danielle is currently involved in an Operational sense for all the services, however, she has day-to-day involvement with Whitebriars Care Home, Whitebeach Care Home & Whitecliff Nursing Home, supporting the management teams at these services.

Lindsey

Lindsey Sherwood

Lindsey started with Coast Care in January 2022, joining the company as an Operations Manager. Lindsey has lots of experience in care, and before joining Coast Care Homes, had been overseeing other homes locally. Lindsey is passionate about person-centred care and it’s because of this, that she has been such a good fit at Coast Care Homes.


Lindsey’s strengths are in her calm and caring nature, which allows her to never be flustered and is excellent at problem-solving in moments of difficulty. Lindsey has also shown strength in her staff management skills, in being able to effectively communicate Coast Care Homes's vision for all staff joining the company.
