Following an operation I was unable to care for myself and my husband who has dementia. We went into Church Farm for respite care and was there for three weeks. It was first what I needed to recuperate and regain my strength. We were extremely well looked after. The food was always very good. The staff very attentive and many entertainments were organised.

My Aunt and Uncle moved to Church Farm when they found they were unable to cope without care support. They were very happy in their new home, particularly as they were able to share a double room and not be parted. Following my uncle's death and my Aunt's deterioration in mental health to the point where she was largely unresponsive, the team worked hard to give her a life of dignity, love and security.

Mum has been a resident at Church Farm for over three years and is very happy and comfortable in the home, she has a lovely sunny room which overlooks the garden. Mum likes to join in with activities and enjoys the regular entertainment. 'Elvis' entertained at Easter, getting everyone singing along, their toes tapping and even some dancing. Mum enjoys the choice of freshly cooked meals and she is especially fond of all the staff who are very caring and look after her so well.

As a temporary resident, while I had a two week holiday, my husband settled in well, was well fed and cared for. He enjoyed the entertainment but also the privacy of his own room when he required it, such as being able to watch the television as he would if at home. He had his birthday whilst there and the home very kindly made a birthday cake for him which he appreciated.

My mother settled in very quickly and the staff have all been very kind and considerate. Mum quickly decided she wanted to become a long stay resident and is very happy for Church Farm to become her permanent home. We are all delighted with the care provided by Church Farm and by consideration shown by all staff.

My sister has received great care here for more than 15 years. She regards the staff are her friends and many of them seem truly fond of her.
Always happy with the service and quality. Carers always helpful and so efficient mum feels at home. Special little touches due to "extras" which are not expected. Quality and variety of food excellent and visitors feel welcome to share mealtimes with their loved ones.
My mother has been at Church Farm over three years. It is a lovely friendly residential home. The staff are caring, professional and efficient. Residents really feel it is their home. The manager and deputy are always available to talk to, for formal meetings or informal chats.
The home is excellently managed and the residents are looked after with compassion and dignity.
The residents are provided with regular group activities, bingo, movement to music, craft work and one to one activities with members of the staff.
The food is excellent and the kitchen staff strive to provide subtle changes, so that the meals remain interesting and appetizing.
I thoroughly recommend Church Farm.
I always look forward to visiting my mother at Church Farm Residential care home, not only because the setting is so peaceful and pretty, but because I enjoy seeing and having a chat with all the vibrant, friendly and wonderful staff. I am always confident that my mother is well cared for, as well as respected and treated as an equal in intelligence and all aspects of her daily life. Fantastic stimulating yet comforting activities. There is a wide choice of menus.

Meet the Team (5)

My name is Karen and I am the home manager at Church Farm.
I was born in Sheffield and knew from the age of 15 when I used to visit a local care home that I wanted to work with older adults. At 16, I joined the care home team and was fortunate enough to spend a few years with that particular organisation working in Mississippi, USA.
After marrying my husband, I had three children - two boys and one girl. Whilst my daughter was young, I attended college to gain my qualifications as I knew I would be returning to care later in my life. During this time, we had moved to Portsmouth to support our son as he had joined the Navy.
Over the next few years, I supported my husband in public houses and hotels around the country.
In 2002 I returned to care and was fortunate to secure a position as an assistant unit manager with Hampshire County Council where I spent 23 years honing my skills while progressing to operations manager, deputy manager and then registered manager in Denmead where I spent 7 years.
I joined Church Farm in 2024 and love the home from home atmosphere. I always strive to ensure all the residents receive the best possible care and feel safe and secure.
Outside of work I love spending time with my 5 grandchildren, who keep me busy and active. To relax I go to the Norfolk Broads where my husband and I have a boat called the Christine Ann, named after my mom. I love seeing all the wildlife and wildflowers and meandering along the rivers.I live not too far away from Church Farm with my husband, daughter, son in law, granddaughter and two dogs, along with blended family at weekends. It can feel a bit like the Waltons but for me that’s what life is about, good times with family and friends making lots of memories and a job that I love.

Hello! My Name is Anu Yohannan, and I am a Senior Care Assistant at Church Farm Care Home. I have worked for Bupa since June 2022, and I joined the team on a Sponsorship Visa.
I was born in India and studied as a nurse. I chose to train as a nurse as my mother had been one and I saw how much enjoyment she got from her job.
I love my role here and being involved with the residents makes me happy. It was always my dream to come and work in the United Kingdom and I am so grateful for the opportunities offered to me by Bupa.
I have been incredibly lucky that my husband has also been able to come to the UK and was offered a position here at Church Farm as well.

Hello! My name is Warren Brewer, and I am the cook at Church Farm Care Home. I started working for Bupa in 2013.
I have worked as a host and a kitchen assistant and I have now progressed to my current role as a chef.
I applied for the job at Church Farm as my mum (and other members of my family) worked in care and suggested that because of my caring nature, this environment would suit me.
I love my role and enjoy making a positive difference in people’s lives. Every day I learn something new and look forward to hearing stories/life experiences from our residents.

Hello! My name is Kimba, and I am a black and white long-haired cat who lives at Church Farm. I was adopted by Church Farm after my owner sadly passed away in 2021. I spend most of my day on the sunniest windowsill or on top of a wardrobe ready to jump and land on unsuspecting carers.
My favourite hobby is eating and having lots of cuddles (oh and naps!).
Recently I have taken up my new role as the home administrator’s assistant and make sure her desk is ALWAYS clear so I can lay across it.I live in the Marine Lounge so I am close to where the food lives, and I can get plenty of attention from EVERYONE who passes by.

Hello! My name is Alfie, and I am a black and white short-haired cat with green eyes. I was adopted by Church Farm after my owner passed away in 2022. My owner had previously worked as a hairdresser here at Church Farm before she came to live here permanently. Recently I have adopted a resident and I make sure he knows exactly when it is lunchtime! We have developed a special friendship, and both enjoy each other’s company. I live in the middle corridor off of the dining room so I can sneak extra treats!
You will usually find me outside or cuddled up with the resident I have adopted.
