What Lovely friendly staff, it was so nice to see the lovely Christmas decorations that gave the home a festive feel. Nothing was too much trouble. Was offered refreshments on my visit and staff answered any questions i had which really put my mind at rest, i was pleasantly surprised how many actives
there were on offer and we were made very welcome, it was nice to see the staff and management joining in the activities and were so approachable, some of the areas were a little dated but that didn't take away from the quality of care or the atmosphere which is far more important to me than the furniture. Even though I didn't take them up on the offer of staying for a meal with my family member, the food looked great and plenty to choose from, my relative loved the meals, felt safe and enjoyed his time here. It's a fair distance from where we live but would definitely choose church farm. Distance is no problem to recieve the care and kindness my relative deserves and received.

My mum Betty receives wonderful care and this was really apparent at the Christmas party. Church Farm laid on a wonderful Christmas lunch and entertainment which the residents loved.

My mum's first day at Church Farm, is very warm & friendly. Karen the manager and all the staff have spoken with mum, granddaughter Georgia and myself. We are unpacking mum's belongings and making her room comfortable and a lovely homely feeling. Mum has taken her place at lunchtime at the male table,
making us all laugh. I'm hoping its the beginning of a lovely stay for mum and us (family)

My Mum received the absolute best care at Church Farm, from every member of staff all with different roles - management team, carers, cooks, housekeepers, cleaners, receptionist, activity coordinator & handymen to name just some.
Mum always felt at home and always said how much she liked being at
the home and how well she was looked after. Although her health was failing, Mum felt safe and happy and knowing this, gave me peace of mind.
I was always greeted with a cheerful 'hello, how are you?' Nothing was ever too much trouble and I also felt very well looked after when I was visiting.
Thank you so much to each and every member of staff, your wonderful care meant a lot.

My father, Frederick, moved into Church Farm Care Home on 10/12/2022. He has been looked after well with great care since this date, and up to the very last moments of his very long life at the age of 106 years.
The staff have been so good, and my father did need a fair amount of care as he had become
very frail. We as a family could not have asked for more, and will forever be in the home and carers' debt for how my father was treated. Thank you.

Our mother was placed at Church Farm Care Home after a short stay in hospital in October 2021. From the family's first visit it became clear that both the care & environment suited her needs, latterly, until her passing in July 2025. Her health was in a slow decline. Always her needs were addressed
at every level with regular medical or care assessments which kept the family fully informed. She had long since become a Church Farm family member rather than a resident & was mourned by both family & carers on her passing. The family wishes to give their thanks and gratitude to all 2021 - 2025.

Mum has only recently joined Church Farm. She came from a supported living establishment but had several falls. Staff are lovely and certainly very caring. There are numerous activities organised including a very happy garden party on Wednesday to celebrate 40 years and the new garden.
Mum really
loves her room and being able to sit out in the garden or watch the birds from inside.
She's had a scrabble evening and a pamper session which she loved. Lots of activities which they can chose to participate or not.
Very caring and gentle home. Long may it prevail.

I was initially quite apprehensive and nervous about my grandfather moving into a care home. However, after just a couple of months, I've been really pleased with the level of care he's received (currently he can do most things for himself). He often tells me how friendly and helpful the staff are,
and that he enjoys the evening entertainment they often provide.

I have to agree-the staff truly make the place. They always greet you with a warm smile, offer tea or coffee, and are incredibly approachable. Nothing ever seems like too much trouble for them.

A doctor has already visited my grandfather a couple of times and provided treatment, which reassures me that he's in good hands. The care home itself is undergoing some exciting upgrades, but it always looks clean and tidy. His room is relatively spacious, and there's also a comfortable sitting area available for visitors.

Over all I would highly recommend.

My mother passed away recently and was given outstanding care, love, and kindness every day (and throughout her wandering nights!) for over 5 years. All of the staff worked to ensure that her last years, months, days, hours, and minutes were happy and filled with life, love, activity, and laughter.
Our memories of Mum's time at Church Farm Care Home are happy ones - the games, activities, and parties, the celebration of occasions great and small, the care taken to keep Mum well turned out in freshly laundered clothes, the hairdressing and nails, the wonderful tea and coffee breaks and the delicious food and drinks. Not even a luxury cruise liner could compete with the quality and variety of Church Farm Care Home fare! The gardens and buildings are cared for with the same love and attention to detail by special members of the team, who go out of their way to keep up the spirits of residents, staff, and visitors alike. Thank you all for making us so welcome and for transforming Mum's final years.

Current Review Score: 9.7 (9.739)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.7 (9.739) out of 10 for Church Farm Care Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.7 out of 5 from 21 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 5.0 out of 5 from 21 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.739 for Church Farm Care Home is calculated as follows: ( (185 Excellents x 5) + (49 Goods x 4) + (7 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 241 Ratings = 4.739
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 5 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Church Farm Care Home is based on 21 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 4
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 53 registered maximum number of service users is 10.6, which has been reached with 21 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.

Job Title: Home Manager Joined: 2024

My name is Karen and I am the home manager at Church Farm.

I was born in Sheffield and knew from the age of 15 when I used to visit a local care home that I wanted to work with older adults. At 16, I joined the care home team and was fortunate enough to spend a few years with that particular organisation working in Mississippi, USA.

After marrying my husband, I had three children - two boys and one girl. Whilst my daughter was young, I attended college to gain my qualifications as I knew I would be returning to care later in my life. During this time, we had moved to Portsmouth to support our son as he had joined the Navy.

Over the next few years, I supported my husband in public houses and hotels around the country.

In 2002 I returned to care and was fortunate to secure a position as an assistant unit manager with Hampshire County Council where I spent 23 years honing my skills while progressing to operations manager, deputy manager and then registered manager in Denmead where I spent 7 years.

I joined Church Farm in 2024 and love the home from home atmosphere. I always strive to ensure all the residents receive the best possible care and feel safe and secure.

Outside of work I love spending time with my 5 grandchildren, who keep me busy and active. To relax I go to the Norfolk Broads where my husband and I have a boat called the Christine Ann, named after my mom. I love seeing all the wildlife and wildflowers and meandering along the rivers.

I live not too far away from Church Farm with my husband, daughter, son in law, granddaughter and two dogs, along with blended family at weekends. It can feel a bit like the Waltons but for me that’s what life is about, good times with family and friends making lots of memories and a job that I love.

Job Title: Senior Care Assistant Joined: 2022

Hello! My Name is Anu Yohannan, and I am a Senior Care Assistant at Church Farm Care Home. I have worked for Bupa since June 2022, and I joined the team on a Sponsorship Visa.

I was born in India and studied as a nurse. I chose to train as a nurse as my mother had been one and I saw how much enjoyment she got from her job.

I love my role here and being involved with the residents makes me happy. It was always my dream to come and work in the United Kingdom and I am so grateful for the opportunities offered to me by Bupa.

I have been incredibly lucky that my husband has also been able to come to the UK and was offered a position here at Church Farm as well.

Hello! My name is Warren Brewer, and I am the cook at Church Farm Care Home. I started working for Bupa in 2013.

I have worked as a host and a kitchen assistant and I have now progressed to my current role as a chef.

I applied for the job at Church Farm as my mum (and other members of my family) worked in care and suggested that because of my caring nature, this environment would suit me.

I love my role and enjoy making a positive difference in people’s lives. Every day I learn something new and look forward to hearing stories/life experiences from our residents.

Job Title: Home Cat Joined: 2021

Hello! My name is Kimba, and I am a black and white long-haired cat who lives at Church Farm. I was adopted by Church Farm after my owner sadly passed away in 2021. I spend most of my day on the sunniest windowsill or on top of a wardrobe ready to jump and land on unsuspecting carers.

My favourite hobby is eating and having lots of cuddles (oh and naps!).

Recently I have taken up my new role as the home administrator’s assistant and make sure her desk is ALWAYS clear so I can lay across it.

I live in the Marine Lounge so I am close to where the food lives, and I can get plenty of attention from EVERYONE who passes by.

Hello! My name is Alfie, and I am a black and white short-haired cat with green eyes. I was adopted by Church Farm after my owner passed away in 2022. My owner had previously worked as a hairdresser here at Church Farm before she came to live here permanently. Recently I have adopted a resident and I make sure he knows exactly when it is lunchtime! We have developed a special friendship, and both enjoy each other’s company. I live in the middle corridor off of the dining room so I can sneak extra treats!

You will usually find me outside or cuddled up with the resident I have adopted.
