My friend has been a resident for some time and developing dementia. The staff are so patient and helpful. They always follow through any concerns I or her family raise. This is vital with a person of this difficult disposition.

My mother passed away recently and was given outstanding care, love, and kindness every day (and throughout her wandering nights!) for over 5 years. All of the staff worked to ensure that her last years, months, days, hours, and minutes were happy and filled with life, love, activity, and laughter.

Our memories of Mum's time at Church Farm Care Home are happy ones - the games, activities, and parties, the celebration of occasions great and small, the care taken to keep Mum well turned out in freshly laundered clothes, the hairdressing and nails, the wonderful tea and coffee breaks and the delicious food and drinks. Not even a luxury cruise liner could compete with the quality and variety of Church Farm Care Home fare! The gardens and buildings are cared for with the same love and attention to detail by special members of the team, who go out of their way to keep up the spirits of residents, staff, and visitors alike. Thank you all for making us so welcome and for transforming Mum's final years.

I can not sing the praises enough for all the staff at Church Farm Care Home. They are absolutely wonderful and to know my mother is being well looked after is very comforting to me as I live many miles away.
Today all the staff laid on a fantastic celebration for my mother's 90th. I can not thank them enough. It was so heartwarming.
I joined for lunch, which was superb. and then they had a lovely singer and baked a beautiful Birthday Cake to celebrate this special occasion with.

Thank you Church Farm.

Initial enquiry and visit with a view to my mum moving in permanently was extremely positive. Nothing was hurried and no question left unanswered. Mum moved into a lovely room on 1st November and couldn't have been more welcomed. She said she felt like a 'very important person'. Having lived alone and being fiercely independent, I worried she would find things difficult, but, although early days, she seems to have settled well and is happy. Most important to me is that she is safe and happy.

My aunt has been a resident of Church Farm Care Home since September 2023 and is extremely happy there. The staff are very friendly and the care is exceptional. Also, the meals always look nutritious and appetising. Every time I visit there always seems to be something going on for the client's well-being and entertainment and there is no pressure, she is able to decide whether she takes part or not. In my experience of visiting friends and relatives in care homes Church Farm certainly rates very highly.

As much as I would prefer our mother to be back in her own home, the care she receives at Church Farm has never disappointed, and the staff, front desk and management all work well to provide feedback and assist in our efforts to communicate - especially important given that her children all live in different countries so cannot visit frequently.

My Father has been in Church Farm for a couple of months now, the lady who showed us around and who was covering in management's absence was so very helpful, she took her time to explain how everything worked. The home had such a lovely feel about it, all the staff were friendly, Dad settled in quickly, he has a nice room with patio doors looking out. The food is good which puts a smile on dads face, having the dogs and cats on site is very therapeutic. When we visit Dad the staff are very kind to give us a tea tray to enjoy with him, there are always lots of activities on or planned. It is quite a big home and you can see the staff work very hard, we have had a few teething problems with communications but once again the lady filling in has helped with everything and I feel I can approach her if I need to check anything. Dad enjoys going outside in the gardens, which are kept lovely for the residents to enjoy. A very nice care home.

We visited my mother on Sunday and had a lovely visit. We received an email the week before inviting us to join her for Sunday lunch which was a great idea. When we arrived, my mother was really happy and enthusiastic about her new surroundings, she has been at Church Farm Care Home for four weeks. Her dog is also a resident and to our surprise was also very content. The lunch was lovely, all staff are very friendly and the dining room was set with coronation decorations. We can’t thank everyone enough for the effort they have taken to make my mother (and her dog) feel welcome. It is a great relief to see her so content. Thank you all.

The initial visit to check home was positive as was the occasion when we went to put resident's personal items in the room.
Generally speaking, the staff are friendly.
I have however been very disappointed that after nearly two weeks, my friend still has had no bath or shower. Having been in the hospital for several weeks prior to moving into the home with no bath, shower or hair wash, I had expected that that would have been a priority. Sadly, this has not been the case.

Having visited twice this week, I noticed that my friend’s room had not been vacuumed, again, very disappointing. The standards I was expecting to see, have not been there.

I would like to thank everybody who has helped to look after my father. You are an amazing team who have made us feel so welcome. Nothing is too much trouble, even though you have lots of residents who also need your attention. My father has settled in well. He is engaging with other residents and staff. He seems happy and has put on weight which is a good thing as he looked so frail after his stroke and weeks of being in hospital. We thoroughly enjoyed our Easter lunch on Sunday and Elvis yesterday. It is a massive relief seeing my father getting the care he has needed for a few years, to be honest even before the stroke it was getting harder for us all to meet his needs. Again, we would like to thank you all so much for caring. You are all an amazing team.

My daughter-in-law and myself joined my cousin and staff for Easter Sunday lunch.
It was an absolute joy, the dining room was so beautifully decorated and the staff were fantastic.
Lunch was so good, far better than I have had in many a restaurant. It was delicious.
I cannot speak highly enough of the standard of care the residents receive and to see my cousin so well and happy is all I could wish for.

Thank you all so very much.

Since the day my grandad came into the home, the staff have been absolutely brilliant, not only making my grandad feel welcome and like he's at home, they make us, the family, feel so welcome, nothing is ever enough for them. Mum has been at the home for around five years now.
Mum is well looked after and has formed a good relationship with her carers. She describes that the food is really good, however, she feels there is too much of it!
She spends a lot of time in her room, which she prefers. However, she can access the living rooms when she wishes to give her time out of her room with other residents and can join in activities.
She enjoys the fact that Poppy, the dog, spends time in her room along with the black and white cat. She loves animals and this brings her much pleasure and company.
There are some minor bits of maintenance to complete in her room, which I am sure will be completed. Mum loves her room as she can see people come and go and feels that she is in the heart of the home rather than being tucked away.

Thank you for the care she is given.

All staff are very caring and considerate, respecting this resident's requirements, likes and dislikes.

The only addition for experience improvement would be the provision of wider (free) in-room TV channel options.

My cousin has been a resident at Church Farm for several years and has been looked after very well.
The reception upgrade has made a great improvement for any new visitors accessing the home.
The flooring in the main pedestrian area would benefit from being levelled and would minimise any slip or trip hazards. Patio doors could be secured overnight and possibly linked back to a central station and sited to give cover and compliment the care home staff.
The food provided to us at the home when we attended one of the special events has been very good.
Several local friends have also spoken very highly about the service given at Church Farm.

Thank you.

Kind, considerate, thoughtful and so very helpful.
Visiting my father who is being looked after much better than he would get anywhere else. The carer who was with him was incredibly gentle with him and just simply lovely. I always get asked if I would like a cup of tea or coffee by any member of staff who sees me.

From the time our mother was admitted to Church Farm Care Home for convalescence care and through to her transition to permanent care, the staff at Church Farm have been so supportive and welcoming and the care delivered is outstanding. Her admission from hospital, mid-pandemic, came with its own challenges but once again staff accommodated frequent calls and gave much-needed reassurance.
As I live overseas, my visits are infrequent but staff help us to talk with Mum regularly on Messenger.
We have been over to visit twice since her admission and were made to feel very welcome. It was a pleasure to watch the staff interacting with the residents with respectful affection, humour and gentle care.
I have been there at lunchtimes and the food looks and smells amazing. Mum was quite the cook and good food was always important.

Thank you.

Karen RothwellJob Title:Home ManagerJoined: 2024

My name is Karen and I am the home manager at Church Farm.

I was born in Sheffield and knew from the age of 15 when I used to visit a local care home that I wanted to work with older adults. At 16, I joined the care home team and was fortunate enough to spend a few years with that particular organisation working in Mississippi, USA.

After marrying my husband, I had three children - two boys and one girl. Whilst my daughter was young, I attended college to gain my qualifications as I knew I would be returning to care later in my life. During this time, we had moved to Portsmouth to support our son as he had joined the Navy.

Over the next few years, I supported my husband in public houses and hotels around the country.

In 2002 I returned to care and was fortunate to secure a position as an assistant unit manager with Hampshire County Council where I spent 23 years honing my skills while progressing to operations manager, deputy manager and then registered manager in Denmead where I spent 7 years.

I joined Church Farm in 2024 and love the home from home atmosphere. I always strive to ensure all the residents receive the best possible care and feel safe and secure.

Outside of work I love spending time with my 5 grandchildren, who keep me busy and active. To relax I go to the Norfolk Broads where my husband and I have a boat called the Christine Ann, named after my mom. I love seeing all the wildlife and wildflowers and meandering along the rivers.

I live not too far away from Church Farm with my husband, daughter, son in law, granddaughter and two dogs, along with blended family at weekends. It can feel a bit like the Waltons but for me that’s what life is about, good times with family and friends making lots of memories and a job that I love.

Hello! My Name is Anu Yohannan, and I am a Senior Care Assistant at Church Farm Care Home. I have worked for Bupa since June 2022, and I joined the team on a Sponsorship Visa.

I was born in India and studied as a nurse. I chose to train as a nurse as my mother had been one and I saw how much enjoyment she got from her job.

I love my role here and being involved with the residents makes me happy. It was always my dream to come and work in the United Kingdom and I am so grateful for the opportunities offered to me by Bupa.

I have been incredibly lucky that my husband has also been able to come to the UK and was offered a position here at Church Farm as well.

Warren Brewer

Hello! My name is Warren Brewer, and I am the cook at Church Farm Care Home. I started working for Bupa in 2013.

I have worked as a host and a kitchen assistant and I have now progressed to my current role as a chef.

I applied for the job at Church Farm as my mum (and other members of my family) worked in care and suggested that because of my caring nature, this environment would suit me.

I love my role and enjoy making a positive difference in people’s lives. Every day I learn something new and look forward to hearing stories/life experiences from our residents.

Kimba
Kimba Job Title:Home CatJoined: 2021

Hello! My name is Kimba, and I am a black and white long-haired cat who lives at Church Farm. I was adopted by Church Farm after my owner sadly passed away in 2021. I spend most of my day on the sunniest windowsill or on top of a wardrobe ready to jump and land on unsuspecting carers.

My favourite hobby is eating and having lots of cuddles (oh and naps!).

Recently I have taken up my new role as the home administrator’s assistant and make sure her desk is ALWAYS clear so I can lay across it.

I live in the Marine Lounge so I am close to where the food lives, and I can get plenty of attention from EVERYONE who passes by.

Alfie
Alfie Job Title:Home CatJoined: 2022

Hello! My name is Alfie, and I am a black and white short-haired cat with green eyes. I was adopted by Church Farm after my owner passed away in 2022. My owner had previously worked as a hairdresser here at Church Farm before she came to live here permanently. Recently I have adopted a resident and I make sure he knows exactly when it is lunchtime! We have developed a special friendship, and both enjoy each other’s company. I live in the middle corridor off of the dining room so I can sneak extra treats!

You will usually find me outside or cuddled up with the resident I have adopted.
