This care home is amazing. My mother is very content and has come on a long way since her stroke. Activities are very good, the staff are very caring, and relatives are always welcome.

Dad has been here for a month now and he is being kept clean and fed very well. Some days he gets up for meals and activities and other days he is too tired and sleeps a lot in bed. He seems calm and happy and is enjoying his food.

My sister has been in Oakhill for over a year now, and other than the activities being hit and miss sometimes, I can't fault the care, and the staff are so helpful and willing to help in any way they can.
I am very happy to see one lady back; she is welcoming and always has time to stop and talk.

Not enough staff on activities, often left for long periods. Too much time spent writing. The fire alarm left ringing with nobody knowing what to do. Shall we take residents from the lounge to the garden (visitors)? Not enough supervision of residents. Activities fitted around time left over after reporting/writing.
The staff are very friendly and welcoming, always addressing you by your first name.

We are so sorry to hear that the activities are not up to the standard that we expect. Our residents do deserve a much better experience. We are meeting with the team next week to review all of the activities and a better way of working. The team will also be meeting with our Quality of Life Specialist on a regular basis from next month. The turnaround manager will also be reviewing the fire drill next week as a matter of urgency. All colleagues have had fire training, but we shall ensure that this is refreshed. Please do contact the turnaround manager, who is now based at the home, if there are any further concerns or if you wish to discuss this matter further.

Since being welcomed to Oakhill in 2019, she has blossomed, and came out of her shell. The care and kindness shown by all at the care home has been wonderful. The care is 10/10 without hesitation, even during covid 19.
The only slight negative is communication by phone is very hit and miss at best,
and could be improved upon. I cannot thank them enough for giving quality of life during my mother in laws last years. Thank you.

My father spent the last few weeks of his wonderful life in Oakhill House. His condition incapacitated him. The staff of the centre provided delicate humane care which maintained my father's dignity and humour. During his last day they also looked after my mother, brother, daughter and myself as we
sat beside him. We cannot thank them enough for their dedication, compassion and love.

My friend has been in Oakhill House since June 2021 and has always been happy
Sadly a lot of staff have left for one reason or another which is a shame as there were some really lovely carers but I am starting to see new faces now.
The staff seem much happier in the last couple of months and it really
notices as I now hear laughter and singing when they are working which is something I had not seen before
The Jubilee celebrations although small was great to see everyone involved, even the temporary manager was cooking on the day which shows teamwork
I cannot fault the staff who work so hard every day, the only gripe I have is the phone system which is very temperamental, but the nice temporary manager has given me the email addresses so I am able to contact the home and they are very quick at replying which gives me confidence

Having worked at Oakhill House since March 2023, Elga closely shares HC-One’s vision in aiming to provide the kindest care for each and every resident.


She extends this caring approach to her colleagues and works closely with them to deliver care and support to residents in a way that they gain the most benefit, in a warm and welcoming home.


Talking about her track record, Elga said:
