Oakland Grange is situated in a residential area on the borders of Rustington and Littlehampton close to the coast and within walking distance to the beach. Originally a large Edwardian house, the home has been extended to offer spacious facilities. It is set in a south facing mature garden with a sun terrace overlooking the lawns beyond.

Oakland Grange provides a comfortable environment for elderly residents, in a purposely converted building to provide effective residential care.

Residents have the use of comfortable lounges and dining areas where they can choose from a wide variety of home-cooked meals. There are well maintained, large landscaped gardens and patio areas. There is an activity program scheduled throughout every week.

Personal care packages ensure that all individual requirements are met by friendly, trained staff who are available day and night, led by a management team. Staff are enhanced by working in partnership with external professionals such as the local GP practice and Pharmacy.

Staff levels are adjusted to reflect the needs of personalised care for residents which can change over time. Oakland Grange continuously invests in training to support a quality of care in which they can all feel proud and meet the needs and expectations of residents and their families.

My mum stayed at Oakland Grange for 2 weeks respite care. Her overall experience was fantastic, the staff went above and beyond and were so kind and caring. The home was cosy, warm and very clean. The weekly entertainment was varied and enjoyable. As a daughter I felt very reassured leaving mum there.
It certainly quickened her convalescent care. Thanks very much to everyone at Oakland Grange - you were brilliant.

We are just a few weeks into my grandfather's moving into residential care at Oakland Grange. He chose here because he stayed in 2020 for respite care during an illness at the peak of the pandemic. The care was exceptional then. He returned this year and it is still wonderful care. It has a homely feel,
carers really do care. The homely feel or even old style beach hotel is really warming. The food is excellent and good portions with a lovely variety. Keep up the great work team. Varied activities weekly. Many Thanks

My Grandmother stayed here for 2 weeks and absolutely loved it. The staff are exceptional and it is thanks to their hard work and dedication that this is such a wonderful home. The staff are friendly, kind, caring and nothing is too much trouble. I was able to leave my Grandmother there knowing that
she was happy and being well cared for. The cleanliness is outstanding and the quality and choice of food is incredible. My Grandmothers dog was allowed to visit her, which she and other residents enjoyed. It feels like one big family and we were very emotional when it was time for my Grandmother to leave. I can highly recommend Oakland Grange for anyone who wants a loved one to receive the best possible care. Thank you to all the staff involved in my Grandmothers care and for making her stay such a positive experience. We cannot thank you enough.

My stepmum put herself in your lovely care home after she had a fall at home and lost her confidence, she was just getting better when she fell again in her room. I cannot thank you enough for your quickness at getting her to hospital, it turns out she'd had a stroke and the person who found her probably
saved her life. She is still in hospital and we're taking one day at a time. I know she would thank you all for your kindness, good food and the cosiness of the home.

As a visitor and friend of a new resident, I have found that everything seems to be first class (or over and above!). My friend was apprehensive, and unprepared for her change of circumstances. Your staff (and residents!) have overcome her concerns, which was a feat in itself!
My friend is very independent,
proud of her self-sufficiency, but her age was catching up fast, when unplanned circumstances lead to her moving to Oakland Grange. As a friend, I am sure this was the best outcome. Your high standards will be hard to match!
Reply from Kim Maw, Manager at Oakland GrangeThank you so much for your thoughtful and encouraging review about your friend's experience at Oakland Grange. It truly means a great deal to us that you've taken the time to share your perspective. We understand how challenging it can be for someone who values their independence and self-sufficiency to adapt to a significant life change. It's heartwarming to hear that our staff and residents were able to provide the care, support, and reassurance needed to make this transition smoother for your friend. At Oakland Grange, we strive to create a welcoming environment that exceeds expectations, and it's wonderful to know that our efforts have made a positive difference. Your kind words will be shared with our team, as they will no doubt appreciate knowing the impact they've had.

I stayed at Oakland Grange for 2 weeks after my hip operation. The atmosphere was caring, happy and friendly I shall come back to stay when cannot live on my own anymore (I am 85). I've known the home since 1998 when my mother died here, she was so happy here. I've looked after old people and have visited
Oakland Grange many times during the last 24 years. I'd recommend it to anyone who wants a loving and peaceful home.

Should you choose Oakland Grange for your relative or friend, you will not be disappointed. Two particular members of the team and the staff go the extra mile to make the home a joyous environment. Laughter can often be heard floating through the halls. The staff are the most amazing, caring, thoughtful,
compassionate people. They care for their guests as if they were their own.
Every morning and afternoon there is entertainment of some description. Easter, Halloween, Christmas, and any excuse in between, are always celebrated in style. The rooms are all tastefully decorated and furnished. The lounge is sunny and comfortable. I sometimes join my aunt for Sunday lunch which is always delicious. Chef and the staff work very hard at ensuring that everyone is catered for, whatever the need or request. In a nutshell, Oakland Grange is a great 'find' on the south coast.

Mum has been a resident for over two years and has been well looked after by their excellent staff backed up by caring management, all of whom go the extra mile to ensure Mum has the best life possible. Mum enjoys the extensive events programme and is encouraged to take part which helps keep her active
and mentally stimulated. Her diet is varied according to her choices and needs and today the family had a birthday meal with her and the chef kindly provided a cake. Another example of the thoughtfulness shown.
I have personally been aware of how reactive staff are to her health care needs and this has contributed to her wellbeing and her longevity.
The atmosphere when you visit is instantly welcoming and the great interaction between the residents themselves and with the staff is plain to see. Thank you, Oakland Grange.

My mother in law has now been living in Oakland Grange for several months. It was hard for her to give up her home but she has settled in incredibly well. This is in large part due to the atmosphere, the staff's approach and the person-centred culture throughout the home. This is supported by an effective
key worker system.
The leadership is responsive and always ready to take on suggestions for improvement. It is possible to raise issues without encountering any defensiveness.
The level of activities in the home is impressive alongside individual and group trips to other places.
My wife and I have extensive experience of care homes through our respective careers and we both find Oakland Grange exceptional.
Reply from Kim Maw, Manager at Oakland GrangeThank you for your amazing kind words. It's wonderful to hear that your mother-in-law has adjusted so smoothly to life at Oakland Grange. Transitioning to a new living arrangement can be challenging. The emphasis on creating a person-centred culture and the effectiveness of the key worker system are definitely factors that contribute to a positive experience. It's especially reassuring to know that we are receptive to feedback and that we actively seek opportunities for improvement. Being able to raise concerns without encountering defensiveness is crucial in ensuring that residents' needs are met and their voices heard. From the moment my friend moved in the management and staff have been very approachable with regards to his needs. Providing everything possible to make his stay as dignified and comfortable as possible. All the staff, not just the trained carers make themselves available to help when needed without
feeling as if they are intruding, very professional.
Reply from Kim Maw, Manager at Oakland GrangeIt's truly heartening to hear about the exceptional care and support your friend has been receiving since moving in. The dedication of the management and staff to ensure his comfort and dignity speaks volumes about their commitment to their residents' well-being. The fact that everyone, from the trained carers to other staff members, is readily available and approachable underscores the culture of professionalism and genuine concern for residents' needs. It's clear that the environment fosters a sense of community and support, which is invaluable in such settings. My mother was a resident of Oakland Grange for over a year and I cannot recommend it highly enough. She had a beautiful room, lots of light and space. She was able to make it her new home, which was so important having made the big decision to move. She made friends, joined in many of the activities
and walked in the lovely gardens having enjoyed a good lunch, before relaxing in her homely room. All the staff in Oakland Grange are deeply caring and dedicated professionals. The care that Mum received was friendly, patient and generous. Sadly Mum became unwell and required a lot of care and support. As a family, we were deeply touched by the level of personal support we received from everyone in the team. If you are looking for a new residential home, for yourself or a relative, Oakland Grange is the best choice of home you could make in the area.

This is the second year our mother has been a resident at the home. This was a big 'ask' for Mum - very stubborn, and moving was not on her radar. Yes, there have been some settling-in teething problems, which were inevitable as this is her first time living elsewhere. However, all good for some time
now. She is looking much better than she has in years, both physically and mentally, which is down to the care and activities the Grange provides. We would recommend Oakland Grange, who does a good job, and we feel she is being looked after well.
Reply from Kim Maw, Manager at Oakland GrangeYour kind words mean a lot to us, and we are thrilled to hear that your mum's stay has been a positive and enriching one.
It warms our hearts to know that despite the initial challenges, Mum has found comfort and improved well-being at Oakland Grange. Our dedicated team strives to create a supportive and engaging environment, and your feedback reaffirms that we are on the right track.
Your recommendation is the highest compliment we could receive, and we are grateful for your trust in our services.
Once again, thank you for taking the time to share your thoughts. We appreciate your feedback and look forward to continuing to provide the best possible care for Mum.

(1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 4

Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
