Oakland Grange is situated in a residential area on the borders of Rustington and Littlehampton close to the coast and within walking distance to the beach. Originally a large Edwardian house, the home has been extended to offer spacious facilities. It is set in a south facing mature garden with a sun terrace overlooking the lawns beyond.

Oakland Grange provides a comfortable environment for elderly residents, in a purposely converted building to provide effective residential care.

Residents have the use of comfortable lounges and dining areas where they can choose from a wide variety of home-cooked meals. There are well maintained, large landscaped gardens and patio areas. There is an activity program scheduled throughout every week.

Personal care packages ensure that all individual requirements are met by friendly, trained staff who are available day and night, led by a management team. Staff are enhanced by working in partnership with external professionals such as the local GP practice and Pharmacy.

Staff levels are adjusted to reflect the needs of personalised care for residents which can change over time. Oakland Grange continuously invests in training to support a quality of care in which they can all feel proud and meet the needs and expectations of residents and their families.

After spending seven and a half weeks here last year and enjoyed the service of all the staff. I decided I would come each week and call the bingo numbers, and help in anyway I can and arrange for a baptist church service. Should my two sons be told I can't look after myself I am coming back here.

Firstly, let me say that I have visited Oakland Grange on a number of occasions recently and the on-duty staff have been most welcoming. I have been impressed by the security at the entrance, and the compliance with Covid19 rules.
The standard of cleanliness appears to be very good and the absence
of trip hazards is also good. All the staff are very friendly and supportive.
Recently it has come to my attention that the standard of catering is below par. In view of the pressures of Care home companies to survive in this inflationary period, I understand that sourcing victuals is a major expense. But having paid for those items and then for the staff to undercook them is unforgivable. To serve undercooked meat is a problem for the fit and healthy, but for the vulnerable people in our society is a potentially life-changing event.
I sincerely hope that Oakland Grange can take charge of the catering staff responsible for producing undercooked meat as it is unforgivable.

Thank you for taking the time to bring your experience to our attention. We're aware that during the lunch service you refer to, one of our residents was served a sausage that was pink on the inside, and so asked for it to be taken away as they believed the sausage looked undercooked. All our food is temperature checked before being served to ensure it is safe for our residents. These sausages were tested and the temperatures were recorded at 97 degrees Celsius which means the sausages were thoroughly cooked. The colour was not an indication of the level to which they had been cooked or uncooked. However, an alternative to the sausages should have been immediately offered to the resident, and I sincerely apologise that this was not the case. This has been addressed with all staff to ensure it does not occur again. We take pride in our food quality and service and consider this to be one of our unique attributes as a care home. I hope that this information has addressed your concerns.

The staff are welcoming every time I visit to see dad on a daily basis. They are all very friendly, helpful and sociable. Dad took a while to settle but with the encouragement and support of the staff is now much happier. The lady who does the activities encourages everybody to join in and assist when
needed. The gardens, building itself and the food are superb.

What a find! I visited several care homes when mum told me that she was lonely living at home on her own, she always told me she would know when the time was right and I wanted to make sure she received the best care possible. As soon as I walked into Oakland Grange it felt right, the staff were very
welcoming and knowledgeable, the residents all looked happy and everywhere was clean, a nice relaxed feeling. I took mum to see for herself and she was happy to go for respite care, well we started with 2 weeks then to 4 weeks now she calls it home and is extremely happy, she looks brighter, the food is very good and she is joining in all of the lovely activities, every day there is something different to do and take part in. I've no worries about mum's care, all the care staff are wonderful, fun, caring and go the extra mile to make sure everything is just right including district nurse visits, doctors etc. A big thanks to all of you at Oakland Grange for your care, love and commitment.

Mum's health is greatly improved since taking up residence in February. She is as well as she can be considering her health and age.The improvement is no doubt a reflection of the excellent care she receives. Staff are cheerful, attentive and considerate of individual needs. Entertainment is plentiful
and Mum takes part in activities she wouldn't have attempted a few months ago.

My mother has been a resident of Oakland Grange for seven-plus years, all of which have made her very happy. Staff are professional but still retain their warmth and friendship to both residents and visitors. There is a good feeling as soon as you walk in the door of this well decorated and spotlessly
clean home. The manager and her team are all to be congratulated on their dedication and good humour during these particularly challenging Covid years, which they have managed with such patience and skill. A really lovely place.

The first time I had been to Oakland Grange, I was very impressed. The cleanliness of the home, PPE, test straight away - a cup of coffee was made on arrival. I met the manageress and two other members of staff, who were lovely and very friendly - all work very hard and bent over themselves to help.
I would recommend your home to everyone; stunning and lovely home. Very impressed.

My mother went into Oakland Grange to recuperate from an operation and then, aged 95, decided she liked it so much she would stay. The staff and services at Oakland Grange are nothing short of superb. My mother was treated with the utmost dignity and respect at all times. It's a care home where everyone

My dad has been at Oakland Grange for 18-months. Everything is absolutely no trouble for the staff regarding my dad, and they look after him so well. He has mobility issues, so he is a challenge, but the staff are always on hand to help him. As his visitor, I am always made to feel so welcome. My dad's
room is very spacious, and everyone has their own TV in their rooms, and they all have call buttons. The food is outstanding and of a very high quality. Thanks to everyone.

I came to Oakland Grange following an operation for a replacement ankle. I did not know what to expect, but I got a very good welcome from all the staff and residents alike, and was a surprise how nice it was. The staff were very polite and helpful, and nothing was too much trouble for them, which help
to make it enjoyable and interested. I have told my two sons that if ever I cannot look after myself, that I will come back here to spend the rest of my days. A big thank you to all. God Bless you all.

The care that is given at Oakland Lodge is exceptional, in my opinion, with a real feel of loving care among the nursing team. All staff, I have found, go the extra mile for resident's to make sure that they are comfortable and getting the best care possible. The new manager has made a real difference
to my friends care and has made sure that her needs are met in the best ways possible, and just the overall running of the home feels different. Hats off to them!
I would gladly place my care in their hands if it was ever needed, and I would feel that I would be treated as a human being.

Three of us visited our friend who was on respite care for two weeks. We went for lunch and stayed for the afternoon. The home was lovely, we sat outside and enjoyed a lovely meal, then walk around the grounds. The staff could not have been more helpful and friendly, and we really enjoyed our visit.

When having to choose somewhere to put a loved one, it will never be easy. When my mother and I visited to view for respite care from the hospital, we were taken around by one lady and she answered all the questions we had, (we had a lot). She was very caring and helpful.


First impressions were that

Oakland was warm and friendly, and it just had a lovely feel.


I had issues with the hospital discharging my father at short notice, and Oakland already having an admission and couldn't take another. I was very stressed, however, the manager took over and called the hospital and dealt with it all for me; she took all the worry away at a very stressful time.


Since then, we have visited most days. Mum has had lunch there, they have quizzes most afternoons, and we are always welcome - nothing is too much trouble.
Every staff member who I've seen has been amazing. My stepfather has decided to stay as he loves it there and is happy, and that is all you can ask for.
Thank you to the manager and all the staff at Oakland.

I have visited many care homes as a Professional during my work lifetime. I visited a dear friend yesterday and was overwhelmed by the high standard of the staff, the rooms, and the general ethos of the home.
I would not hesitate to recommend this care home to anybody who has to have later life care
or simply for a convalescence.

He brings 14 years of senior leadership experience in improving the quality of life for older adults. Kevin is a seasoned health and social care executive with a passion for delivering person-centred care, with a focus on professionalising care roles, implementing innovative solutions, and fostering a culture of excellence.


Throughout his career, Kevin has transformed services that serve the elderly across the UK. He has led non-profit and for-profit organisations providing care homes, home care, assisted living, memory care, and rehabilitation services. Under Kevin’s direction, these provisions of care have thrived through a person-centred philosophy and innovative solutions.


Kevin works diligently to leverage his experience and perspective to benefit Oakland Care Group’s residents, families, and employees.


As a Director for West Sussex Partners in Care, the local association for care providers, Kevin is committed to advocating for the social care sector.


Kevin is a Fellow of both the Chartered Management Institute and the Institute of Leadership and Management. He was a Top 10 Finalist of the Social Care Top 30 Leadership Awards in 2023 and a Finalist in the Social Care Top 30 for 2024.
