Overall Experience
Mum has been a resident for over two years and has been well looked after by their excellent staff backed up by caring management, all of whom go the extra mile to ensure Mum has the best life possible. Mum enjoys the extensive events programme and is encouraged to take part which helps keep her active and mentally stimulated. Her diet is varied according to her choices and needs and today the family had a birthday meal with her and the chef kindly provided a cake. Another example of the thoughtfulness shown.
I have personally been aware of how reactive staff are to her health care needs and this has contributed to her wellbeing and her longevity.

The atmosphere when you visit is instantly welcoming and the great interaction between the residents themselves and with the staff is plain to see. Thank you, Oakland Grange.

Thank you so much for your kind words! We're thrilled to hear that your mum has had such a positive experience at Oakland Grange. It's wonderful to know that she's enjoying the events and staying active and that her dietary needs are being well taken care of. We're glad you all had a lovely time...

My mother in law has now been living in Oakland Grange for several months. It was hard for her to give up her home but she has settled in incredibly well. This is in large part due to the atmosphere, the staff's approach and the person-centred culture throughout the home. This is supported by an effective key worker system.
The leadership is responsive and always ready to take on suggestions for improvement. It is possible to raise issues without encountering any defensiveness.
The level of activities in the home is impressive alongside individual and group trips to other places.

My wife and I have extensive experience of care homes through our respective careers and we both find Oakland Grange exceptional.

From the moment my friend moved in the management and staff have been very approachable with regards to his needs. Providing everything possible to make his stay as dignified and comfortable as possible. All the staff, not just the trained carers make themselves available to help when needed without feeling as if they are intruding, very professional.

My mother has been a resident since October 2022. Apart from a few initial blips, the staff have been caring and considerate to my mum. She has become increasingly frail and immobile, needing more care, which the staff have given her with compassion. They have been very supportive of me when I visit as I live overseas.

My mother was a resident of Oakland Grange for over a year and I cannot recommend it highly enough. She had a beautiful room, lots of light and space. She was able to make it her new home, which was so important having made the big decision to move. She made friends, joined in many of the activities and walked in the lovely gardens having enjoyed a good lunch, before relaxing in her homely room. All the staff in Oakland Grange are deeply caring and dedicated professionals. The care that Mum received was friendly, patient and generous. Sadly Mum became unwell and required a lot of care and support. As a family, we were deeply touched by the level of personal support we received from everyone in the team. If you are looking for a new residential home, for yourself or a relative, Oakland Grange is the best choice of home you could make in the area.

This is the second year our mother has been a resident at the home. This was a big 'ask' for Mum - very stubborn, and moving was not on her radar. Yes, there have been some settling-in teething problems, which were inevitable as this is her first time living elsewhere. However, all good for some time now. She is looking much better than she has in years, both physically and mentally, which is down to the care and activities the Grange provides. We would recommend Oakland Grange, who does a good job, and we feel she is being looked after well.

Oakland Grange provided a month's convalescence for my mother after a fall. The home is cosy, comfortable, friendly and spotless. Nothing is too much trouble for the staff. My sisters and I visited each week from Cambridgeshire and Kent and were made to feel part of their Oakland family on every occasion. Christmas was amazing and we thank you for giving Mum so much care to be able to return home last week.

Highly recommended!

My mum has been in Oakland Grange for 18 months now, but I just want to say they really know how to put on a good Christmas party. Yesterday was a wonderful day. Loads of lovely food and an excellent singer. The home is full of beautiful Christmas decorations, making the atmosphere magical. The staff all dressed up as did many of the residents and their relatives - in their sparkly Christmas jumpers. Good fun was had by all, with dancing and even one of the residents leading the singing. It was so wonderful to see my mum so happy, joining in with the dancing and singing. Thank you so much for such a happy day.

I regularly visit two friends who both reside at the home. The quality of overall care they receive is second to none. All staff are very professional, and the management has set a high standard of care that all staff have bought into.

I find the staff very friendly and welcoming and also helpful and caring. The home is comfortable and very clean, and a lot of entertainment is provided. The food is excellent. Visitors are always made welcome to visit anytime and join in with any entertainment.
Every effort is made to encourage residents to join in activities and socialise, but your personal taste and privacy is respected.

I feel very confident that I have chosen the right place for my partner.

Choosing a care home for someone can be a daunting task. So where to start? Fortunately, my dear friend remembered visiting Oakland Grange Residential Care Home some years earlier to see an old friend and could recall it “always seemed a very ‘nice’ place”. Her long memory served her well, and today, nine years later, my 94-year-old friend continues her residency at Oakland Grange, happily settled in a lovely, modern, safe and high-quality place of care, helping to maintain quality of life with compassion, kindness, and respect where residents can feel at ease, comfortable and most importantly at home and amongst friends.

I cannot recommend Oakland Grange highly enough. It's well organised, well run, professional, but mostly, so very helpful and caring. I feel confident and relieved that my mum is so very well looked after and cared for in every way possible. The staff here really do go above and beyond, from the cleaning staff all the way up to the management. I wouldn't have a second thought advising anyone to use this home for their loved ones. Lovely place.

Following a fall down the stairs in mid-January and my father being discharged from the hospital to my care, as he'd been assessed as medically fit but, in my opinion, not at all capable of going home to his house and caring for himself, my husband and I sought respite care for him, initially in another care home. They did their best, but we always knew we wanted him to transfer to Oakland Grange as soon as it was possible due to its excellent reputation. He has been a resident of Oakland for two and a half months now and has actually decided he wants to stay there permanently. We cannot fault the care and support provided by all the staff, they are always very welcoming and friendly to us and his many other visitors, and it gives us great peace of mind knowing he is safe and well cared for. Dad has a lovely room, and he enjoys taking part in as many of the activities as he can, and the proximity of the home to us is an added bonus. We would highly recommend Oakland Grange.

Oakland Grange has delivered the highest standard of care to my 89-year-old mum for the past few years. She’s had her ups and downs but continues to bounce back in no small part down to the care, love and safeguarding delivered to her at Oakland Grange.
The staff are friendly, caring and well trained. There is always a great atmosphere in the building whenever I visit. Did I mention cleanliness? This home is always spotless.

I couldn’t be happier to have her here.

My mother moved to Oakland Grange in November 2021. It was a big decision to give up her bungalow, but she was having difficulty managing alone.
We are so glad she made this decision, the staff have been great, and she is well looked after. Nothing is too much trouble for them.
It is also a lovely place to come and visit my mother, so warm and welcoming.
They have plenty going on socially most days, also visiting entertainers.
The food is outstanding - my compliments to the chef.

It was a decision well made.

My mother has been a resident of Oakland for two years now. We are very pleased with the care she receives, especially as she has been unwell and needed short stays in the hospital. When she returned from the hospital, the care they give her is excellent. The home is bright and cheerful, and the garden is lovely with a large sun terrace. Mum enjoys the garden and sits out in the sun at any opportunity.

The home is always clean, the staff are cheerful, and the change-over of staff is minimal - the same faces are around since Mum first arrived. There is regular entertainment and annual events on the calendar are celebrated, and the staff go to great lengths to decorate the home for these, and the chef will prepares food relating to the event. Mum has her hair done every week in the salon - a hairdresser visits regularly. The walk into town or the seafront is only a few minutes, and Mum enjoys the seafront in the summer. Would certainly recommend Oakland Grange to anyone.

My great-aunt moved here approximately six months ago, and we are so glad she did. The level of care she receives is totally appropriate to her needs, never compromising her dignity or independence. My aunt always looks well-presented; it is obvious that someone has taken the time to dress her in clothes that coordinate are clean and comfortable. She always cleans herself, and her hair is brushed. Her room and the rest of Oakland Grange are spotless. The staff are compassionate and caring and never walk by without a kind word or pat on the shoulder. She is actively encouraged to join in activities (the activity coordinator is wonderful), and I know she enjoys them. Finding a new home for her seemed a Sisyphean task at first, but we couldn't be happier with where she is. Roll on when I can move in!
