My brother was at Rookwood for a week respite care.
He was made to feel very much at home and remarked the food was very good and plenty of it. The staff were all very helpful and considerate.

My mother stayed for a week at Rookwood to give her a taster of how life could be in a residential home as she was finding it difficult living in her own home. I am glad to say she absolutely loved it at Rookwood. Everybody was so calm and friendly and very caring and the food and accommodation excellent.
I would be very happy for my mother to live there.

An excellent care home with consistently very high standards.
My mother is very happy here (this from a woman who swore that she would never go into a home).

I have always found the management and staff to be friendly and personable. They make every effort to ensure the residents get the most out of their stay, in a friendly and homely environment. Introducing various events throughout the weeks and months coaxing the residence (when willing) to join in
wherever possible.

I do get a lot of comfort knowing my mum is in a safe place and in very good hands. The staff here are very kind and understanding when my mum gets upset, although my mum does have her bolshy moments, they handle it very well.

The chefs also make a big difference, as they make every effort to provide enjoyable, tasty food. The soups are fabulous.

You would be hard pushed to find a better place in my view. Thank you Rookwood, I'd be lost without your support as would my mum.

Rookwood was chosen by my Cousin before she needed care. Each time we visit her she is happy, comfortable and nicely dressed. The staff are always available, friendly and helpful. Thye menus are varied and activities are regularly arranged for those who can benefit. If I needed care I could not hope
for a nicer home.

From the day she arrived at Rookwood, we felt confident that she would be looked after in a caring and respectful way. This has proved to be the case.
The staff are very caring and always welcoming and keep us informed of any situation which may arise.
We can see that the all of the management and
staff work hard to ensure that Rookwood is a happy and enjoyable place for her to live.

We have been very pleased with the standard of care given. The manager has been extremely helpful in keeping us informed of any problems whatever they are and it has enabled us to be able to be assured that all is well if we hear nothing to the contrary. As we live a long way from the home this is especially
important to us.

Rookwood is an excellent home and the standard of care is impressive. It seems to me to offer care between a residential and a nursing home. The standards are high and the team there have been instrumental in improving my mother's health. Food quality, care quality, the home itself and activities offered
are excellent.

Current Review Score: 9.6 (9.578)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.6 (9.578) out of 10 for Rookwood Residential Care Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.8 out of 5 from 11 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.8 out of 5 from 11 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.803 for Rookwood Residential Care Home is calculated as follows: ( (107 Excellents x 5) + (24 Goods x 4) + (1 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 132 Ratings = 4.803
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 4.775 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Rookwood Residential Care Home is based on 11 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 = 3.775
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 25 registered maximum number of service users is 5, which has been reached with 11 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.

Hi, I’m Zoe, and I am the Registered Manager at Rookwood Residential Home. I began my employment at South Coast Nursing Homes in May 2020 as a health care assistant at Eastridge Manor and was able to quickly progress into a senior role after just 3 months due to my past knowledge and experience. I remained at Eastridge Manor until August 2021, when I was promoted to the Head of Care position at Rookwood. I was then promoted again to manager in 2023.
