Rotherlea is a superb modern care home located in the picturesque West Sussex market town of Petworth. The home is purpose designed with 7 separate self contained wings each providing residents with their own spacious single en-suite bedrooms, their own lounge and dining areas and a team of dedicated professional care staff.

Care packages are put together with you and your family so that your choices and preferences always come first. Rotherlea offers a varied and interesting social activity schedule designed around residents’ own hobbies and interests and aimed at maintaining strong community links.

Rotherlea provides long stay and respite residential care for older people with physical frailty and for older people who are suffering from dementia. A fully qualified care team provide the very highest standard of care to residents 24 hours a day.

Nan is a relatively new resident. The care, support and communication is second to none. She is happy, well cared for and any concerns regarding her health or welfare is addressed straight away. Although she has dementia she has settled in very well and far healthier, happier and more mobile since being
at Rotherlea.

After visiting my nan-in-law for the first time in the home, meeting some of the staff and other residents confirmed she is in the right home. The staff go above and beyond expectations. We recently celebrated our nan's 90th and can't thank you enough as not only did your chef create an amazing cake
for her, but what seemed like the majority of staff came in to sing Happy Birthday. From what I have seen your staff are compassionate, and caring and are more like friends or family to the residents.

Rotherlea is a beautiful and caring home. My mother has blossomed since being here and the care the staff give her is first-class. The place is clean and tidy and I couldn't ask for a better place for my mum.

My uncle was admitted to Rotherlea in December 2022 until his recent death. I can't thank the manager and the team for their professionalism and compassion at such a difficult time. With no direct dependents to help, they supported me in every way they could, managing my uncles' needs with dignity,
respect and compassion. The staff's engagement with the residents is excellent. They encourage healthy friendships and joyful shared experiences. I have witnessed so many moments with staff and residents who are fully engaged in positive, cheerful interactions. It is so comforting to know loved ones are happy, safe and comfortable when we can't be with them as often as we would like.
My uncle really thought of Rotherlea as his home from home and the manager and every single member of the staff and management team made his final years so happy. Thank you all for your care and commitment. He was so lucky to have you.

Our Grandad came into Rotherlea's care in August 2022, after a long stint in the hospital and other care homes struggling to meet his ever-growing needs. From the very start, we were incredibly impressed with Rotherlea and this is a testament to their wonderful staff and incredible managers. Knowing
the desperate situation we were in, trying to find Grandad suitable care, one of the managers even came in on his day off to show us around- this only a small part of all the things he did to go above and beyond for us and our Grandad. They cared for Grandad right until the very end and were able to help us plan for Grandad to have a peaceful passing. The staff are all very experienced in working with people with dementia and this made Grandad's dementia journey more manageable for him and us. When Grandad passed, they did not stop caring for us as a family and helped us navigate the next steps. Thank you everyone at Rotherlea.

Sadly we finally had to find end-of-life care for my father-in-law. What a minefield, nightmare hospital, next to useless. Miraculously Rotherlea were able to help and rescue us from our dilemma. The manager dealt with the whole process professionally, efficiently and was pragmatic in making it happen
is what it felt like. Immediately Dad was discharged from hospital in a dreadful state, unhygienic which was embarrassing, not least heart wrenching. On arrival at the home, he was greeted, welcomed and made to feel valued immediately. Empathy, reassurance, excellent care and high standards are immediately recognisable. a most harrowing time has been made manageable. Family reassured and Dad settled, looks human and is treated as such. Thank you.

Very helpful and polite staff across all levels of responsibility which is also extended to the family of the resident.
A lot of time is put into engaging the residents in various activities to help fulfil their days.
On a personal level, my mother is physically fit and can walk 2-3 miles per day
which has kept her well. Understandably, this isn't always achievable for her now unless one of the family takes her out.

The home manager and deputy are amazing, I never have any issues when coming into the home and I feel anything I tell them, regarding my friend, they deal with appropriately and professionally. Both the home manager and deputy have turned the home into a lovely atmosphere to walk into for the residents
and the staff!

Rotherlea Care Home is a welcoming and happy place led by a knowledgeable management team.
Mum has dementia and Alzheimer's, all the staff at Rotherlea have shown their kindness and patience, especially throughout this transitional period with extended respite care, supporting her to stay settled in
her new surroundings and routines.
It's lovely to see the photos on the website of Mum joining in with the daily activities, looking well and happy!

Fantastic care of my grandfather. Very helpful and supportive staff. Always trying to help to make the care better for my grandfather.

Rotherlea is a happy, caring and welcoming care home. My husband has dementia and has had to move from a previous care home that could not meet his needs, Rotherlea has sensitively met these. The carers are all so very caring to him and make me feel so welcome when I visit him.

Every member of staff were so kind, considerate and helpful. This was a two week respite care and my husband was very happy. Everywhere was exceptionally clean and he enjoyed all his meals.

The care shown by the staff at Rotherlea is beyond what you'd expect. Led by the excellent manager, this team has put the 'care' back into the meaning of 'care home'. The patience they have shown in getting Mum settled has paid off, she is thriving. The knowledge they have on dementia is outstanding.

My husband seems very happy there. He was very agitated at home. I am greatly pleased he is in such a nice place with wonderful staff and activities. He has a routine, enjoys his food and all his health care is dealt with.

I have been so impressed with the care my dad has had at Rotherlea Care Home. The team are so kind, supportive, professional and caring for Dad since he arrived over six months ago. Dad has dementia and the team at Rotherlea have put our minds at ease with their efforts. I would highly recommend this
place for anyone who has an old relative that can't manage on their own anymore.

My dad wasn't in Rotherlea very long but the care from all staff was above excellent, All the staff couldn't have been more sensitive and understanding to his and our needs too. It's not the look of the home that matters but the staff that work there, they are genuine through and through and really
know how to respect the elderly.
I cannot recommend this home highly enough and until you have had dealings with care homes you won't understand.
There are good and bad everywhere, this is definitely one of the good ones.
Thank you care staff and management from all my family you made the transition easier.

My sister has been very well looked after during the last four months after Rotherlea took her in when another care home found her too challenging. She is much happier now as the staff have reassured her, and she feels safe, calm and "at home". Recently when her treasured necklace and bracelet were
left behind at a hospital after a hip operation, one of the staff went out of her way in her own time to retrieve them for her. We are very grateful to Rotherlea, and the whole family enjoys looking at the photos of activities that are put on the Facebook page.

Daniel

Daniel Rees

Job Title: Manager Joined: 2018

Daniel started at Shaw healthcare in 2018 joining us at Forest View care home in Burgess Hill as Deputy Manager.


He joined Shaw after gaining a wealth of knowledge in the sector for other providers working with older people and young children’s care providers.


Daniel joined Rotherlea as Home Manager after supporting several services in the region showing his ability to work with teams and solve problems.


He is a calm manager very assured and supportive to staff and families. Daniel always takes an avid interest in the residents in his care and is often seen out on the floors.


Daniel has some inspirational ideas to support Rotherlea in his new position including a lot of community interaction.

I enjoy the variety of jobs my role entails and I love helping and supporting my colleagues.


The best memory of a working day was in my extra role as line manager for Activities organising a British Tea Party where I could interact with both residents and colleagues.


My qualifications are NVQ Level 2 in Administration, Level 1 & Level 2 in Counselling Skills.
