My dad wasn't in Rotherlea very long but the care from all staff was above excellent, All the staff couldn't have been more sensitive and understanding to his and our needs too. It's not the look of the home that matters but the staff that work there, they are genuine through and through and really
know how to respect the elderly.
I cannot recommend this home highly enough and until you have had dealings with care homes you won't understand.
There are good and bad everywhere, this is definitely one of the good ones.
Thank you care staff and management from all my family you made the transition easier.

My sister has been very well looked after during the last four months after Rotherlea took her in when another care home found her too challenging. She is much happier now as the staff have reassured her, and she feels safe, calm and "at home". Recently when her treasured necklace and bracelet were
left behind at a hospital after a hip operation, one of the staff went out of her way in her own time to retrieve them for her. We are very grateful to Rotherlea, and the whole family enjoys looking at the photos of activities that are put on the Facebook page.

My father has been at Rotherlea for 9 months now.
Right from day one, all the members of staff have been friendly, supportive and approachable.
Every time l visit they are always attentive and professional and also have a genuine interest in their residents.

The staff at Rotherlea are exceptionally well trained! I am so pleased that my friend is taken care of in every manner possible. The staff there have great manners and give out great kindness and support just like the residents are their own friends. Which makes me extremely happy. The activities that
are going on are great especially with this silly virus. There is still various amounts of activities going on and safely too. Very pleased with this home, and will definitely recommend this service.

My mother has been a resident at Rotherlea for five years. During that time there have been many changes definitely for the better. The management team are approachable and caring and the carers are mostly excellent I feel the home has managed the situation extremely well. My mother has been well looked

Since my mother has been a resident her overall mental and physical wellbeing has improved considerably. I put this down to the care and friendliness of all the staff who have made her feel literally at home. Her room is an adequate size and she enjoys the activities and the food.

I have found the medical care at Rotherlea very good with warm clean conditions that are excellent. The administration needs a little to be desired, but there is new management now and I am sure this will improve for the future with more contact between patients and their relations.
Items that need
washing should be more thoroughly monitored as several items of clothing have been mislaid in the period of November to end of January when my husband has been there.

The staff are always polite, helpful and welcoming. The home is modern with pleasant furnishings. It is light and airy. it is purpose built. Residents appear clean and tidily dressed. They seem to enjoy the food provided.
Alas, there appears to be little in the way of activities and nothing offering
mental stimulation. Alongside this I recognise the difficulties in obtaining suitably qualified staff and the problems of waiting for a criminal records check.

My mother has been a resident in Rotherlea since 2014. She has her own en-suite room which contains many of her personal items, especially her beloved books. She has been treated with kindness and we are reassured that she is in a safe, caring environment where her rights as an individual are respected.

My experience of the care establishment is that it is understaffed, poorly managed and incorrectly trained staff. Every time I visit there is never a senior member of staff to talk about my Grandmother's care needs. The majority of staff are agency and have poor English making it difficult to understand.
In all the times I've visited there has never been a home manager! Some members of staff don't have the time to assist residents to the toilet resulting in accidents. Never will I recommend this care facility to anyone.

Current Review Score: 10.0 (9.957)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 10 (9.957) out of 10 for Rotherlea is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 5.0 out of 5 from 28 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 5.0 out of 5 from 28 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.957 for Rotherlea is calculated as follows: ( (314 Excellents x 5) + (14 Goods x 4) ) ÷ 328 Ratings = 4.957
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 5 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Rotherlea is based on 28 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 4
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 70 registered maximum number of service users is 14, which has been reached with 28 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
