Overall Experience

Our brother had incurable cancer and moved to White Lodge when he could no longer care for himself. In White Lodge he was very comfortable, he enjoyed the large garden especially and he liked all the staff. He was treated with great kindness, wonderful care, patience and good humour. Even though very busy, the staff were always available, never rushed the care they gave and often did something extra, for example, they sat with him through the night just before he died so he wouldn't be alone. We are very grateful to them all.

My wife stayed at White Lodge for four weeks in May and June 2022. This was her second stay at White Lodge and she was very happy here. Cleanliness is excellent, facilities excellent, her personal care and safety were well managed, staff welcoming and friendly. My wife says the meals were great... which possibly reflects the standard of my home cooking! The whole place has a warm and welcoming vibe and we will certainly have no hesitation in using White Lodge again for respite care. Thank you to the whole team.

Our aunt has been a resident at White Lodge for a number of years and, at 95 years old, we are convinced that she could not be happier or more comfortable. As visiting has been difficult lately for obvious reasons when we call we always speak with staff members who are caring, fully informed and who seem emotionally engaged; this is very touching, and it's comforting to know that our aunt is surrounded by a well trained, close-knit, and wholly engaged team.
The location and environment of White Lodge is delightful and the home itself is big enough to have built a sense of community but is small enough to feel intimate and family-focused.

There are few institutions left where so many humane values are as well preserved.

White Lodge has a very caring environment reflecting safety, friendliness and respecting dignity and privacy. Dad has been very well looked after and kept safe during these difficult times. Staff are approachable and help him with any concerns raised. The manager and staff build good relationships with the residents and have got to know Dad really well- going the extra mile recently to support a very special visit. Big thank you to all at White Lodge and their senior management team.

I cannot recommend White Lodge care home enough. At the heart of any healthcare service should be the patient and this is absolutely true at White Lodge. The staff all genuinely care about the patients' wellbeing, both physical and mental. They work with a great sense of humour and camaraderie - they take time to build relationships and interact with my grandad, which is very important as despite his advanced years he is still very with it mentally. The staff have worked tirelessly to ensure that throughout the pandemic he has been able to communicate with his family, including resetting passwords on devices so we can talk over video-call and ensuring he is near his phone. The maintenance team have ensured his room feels like his own. Staff recently worked with us to safely and securely ensure my grandad, a military veteran, could take part in some filming. Not only did this help preserve an important part of the UK's history, but also provide him with a very special day.

My mother has been living at White Lodge for just over a year. During that time, she has gone from a frail old lady with little to look forward to, to a confident woman enjoying life again. This is due, in no small measure, to the kindness, lively interest and company of the staff and the activities provided. Also the interaction with the other residents, now friends, has enriched her life enormously. I too, have got to know the staff over the months and have also been treated with unfailing kindness and consideration. White Lodge rest home is truly a home and the staff and residents, a family.

My mum has now been in White Lodge for 16 months and loves it. We visited several care homes and knew straight away that she would love it. The manager and staff are really lovely and caring and she is really happy here.

This year 2020 has been really hard for everyone, not least care home residents and staff and they have done an excellent job of keeping everyone safe and happy. I can highly recommend this home.

After visiting one or two Care Homes having made the extremely difficult decision to find a suitable place for our Mum, we were so pleased to have found White Lodge. On my first visit to the home, I knew that it would be the place where Mum would be well cared for and happy. Mum was a resident at White Lodge for nearly a year and my sisters and I visited her several times a week (until lockdown, that is!). On all of our visits, we were welcomed and treated as family and we soon realised that, not only was Mum treated with the utmost care and attention from all the staff, but that she was loved as well, which meant so much to us all. White Lodge is well managed, extremely clean and comfortable, and the food is also very good. We certainly did not regret our decision to place Mum in the care of White Lodge.

I have been a regular visitors for a few years and White Lodge is warm, friendly and homely. The dedicated team of carers is very well lead by the managers and they have created a happy, safe and secure environment. Great efforts are made for the varied daily activities to join in, though a person's independence is always respected.

Following my search before Christmas 2018, I knew of this home from many years ago when a neighbour was a resident and I left it to be examined until later in my search. On entering there was no smell just a homely atmosphere to be welcomed by smiling staff. The manager was open and above board with all my list of questions, took me on a thorough guided tour and she also asked questions of me and my role as a carer. We agreed on 2 weeks respite care initially but within a week the decision was made to entrust my friend aged 92 into her care. Extremely impressed so far.

This care home is small, personal and cosy like a big family. Staff and residents all know each other. My mother has settled in quite happily although I thought she’d be far more resistant to leaving her own home. I’ve found it very clean on all my visits, the residents seem to like the food and the staff are very approachable. The activities leader is awesome and extremely patient! The only difficulty I’ve experienced is getting mum’s hair done by the hairdresser every week - not drastic in the great scheme of things, but she does look a bit unkempt without it and I know it does wonders to keep up her morale.

My father has lived in comfort at White Lodge for over three years and both he and I cannot speak highly enough of the care he receives.
The staff know my father and he feels comfortable talking to them and sharing both his laughter and his worries.
All the staff work together to provide a warm, professional "home" environment and my father considers White Lodge as an extended family.
The food is fresh and varied with homemade cake every day which I can recommend!

Thank you, White Lodge, for all that you do, not only for my father but also for me.

White Lodge has provided my grandparents with amazing care. They care for every resident and treat them with great respect. White Lodge does not feel like your average residential home, there are a huge variety of activities for the residents to do and my grandfather has become a keen quiz taker! Whenever I have gone to visit my grandparents the staff are so welcoming and always offer you tea/coffee and cake.

Emma PigottJob Title:Home Manager

"Welcome to White Lodge. For over two decades, White Lodge has been my professional home. Having worked across a variety of roles before becoming Registered Manager, I have come to know every facet of this home - our people, our culture, our history, and, most importantly, the values that make it such a special place.

My priority is ensuring every family feels reassured, welcomed, and confident from the moment they step through our door. I want our residents to feel safe, valued, and truly at home, while their families know they are always listened to, supported, and involved.

Visitors regularly tell us how warm, clean, and beautifully maintained White Lodge is, often noting that it feels much more like a lively family home than a care setting. We operate an open-door policy, welcoming loved ones to visit freely between 8 am and 8 pm. Whether it’s sharing a cup of tea, joining in an activity, or simply sitting together in our beautiful south-facing garden, families remain a vital part of everyday life here.

I am incredibly proud of our dedicated team, many of whom have been with us for years. Their compassion, commitment, and genuine relationships with our residents are at the heart of the care we provide.

We are also deeply rooted in the East Preston community. Many of our staff live locally, sharing a genuine passion for the area. We maintain strong links with local schools and nurseries, whose children visit regularly, and love taking part in key village traditions like the East Preston Festival and St Mary’s Christmas Tree Festival.

My promise to every family is simple: to provide a home where your loved one is treated with kindness, dignity, and respect, and where you will always feel welcome, informed, and involved. I look forward to personally welcoming you to White Lodge and showing you why so many families place their trust in us.
