Overall Experience
White Lodge is an excellent facility for the caring of the elderly. Our Mother was there for five and half years and the care overall was excellent.
The facilities and rooms were all kept in marvellous condition, and the building had no traces of the usual "Old Peoples" urine type smell. The staff were lovely and very caring. My mother was treated with the utmost respect at all times and staff went out of their way to make life as comfortable as possible for mother (period 95 -101 years old) Catering was extremely good again with all personal requirements taken care of. Mothers room was bright, airy, and kept nice and clean.
We were aware of some managerial matters which we found frustrating, but that was resolved just as our Mother departed this world, and we were extremely impressed with the new incoming Manager.

It is very easy to criticise such establishments dealing with old folks but must be extremely difficult, and in our view, overall White Lodge did a superb job.

The senior staff are poorly trained and managed and have very bad attitudes and lack of understanding towards family members. Communication skills are very poor and undignified. The home does not understand how to deliver person-centred care and I have seen staff speak to my grandmother in condescending tones.

Coffee and food are left to go cold with basic encouragement to eat and drink lacking. The staff have made the last few years of my relationship with my grandmother a very upsetting and stressful experience. I would not wish anyone else to experience what I have had to experience. The management should hang their heads in shame.

The care my in law receives at White Lodge is excellent. The staff are cheery, approachable and friendly with a professional approach.
Nothing is too much trouble. The food is very good and my Mother in law particularly likes the fresh cake everyday!

The staff make every effort to ensure other members of the family are made to feel welcome and special attention is paid at birthdays, Christmas etc. by all the staff.

Excellent in all ways. Staff are caring, kind and make White lodge a lovely place to visit. They are always accommodating; offering us when we visit a cup of tea/cake. The home is kept clean and is a real 'home.' The gardens at White lodge are wonderful and beautifully maintained - and some of the rooms look out onto it. There is always activities happening at White Lodge making it a lively place yet because there are not lots and lots of residents it still feels small and cosy. Would recommend!

Emma Pigott
Emma PigottJob Title:Home Manager

"Welcome to White Lodge. For over two decades, White Lodge has been my professional home. Having worked across a variety of roles before becoming Registered Manager, I have come to know every facet of this home - our people, our culture, our history, and, most importantly, the values that make it such a special place.

My priority is ensuring every family feels reassured, welcomed, and confident from the moment they step through our door. I want our residents to feel safe, valued, and truly at home, while their families know they are always listened to, supported, and involved.

Visitors regularly tell us how warm, clean, and beautifully maintained White Lodge is, often noting that it feels much more like a lively family home than a care setting. We operate an open-door policy, welcoming loved ones to visit freely between 8 am and 8 pm. Whether it’s sharing a cup of tea, joining in an activity, or simply sitting together in our beautiful south-facing garden, families remain a vital part of everyday life here.

I am incredibly proud of our dedicated team, many of whom have been with us for years. Their compassion, commitment, and genuine relationships with our residents are at the heart of the care we provide.

We are also deeply rooted in the East Preston community. Many of our staff live locally, sharing a genuine passion for the area. We maintain strong links with local schools and nurseries, whose children visit regularly, and love taking part in key village traditions like the East Preston Festival and St Mary’s Christmas Tree Festival.

My promise to every family is simple: to provide a home where your loved one is treated with kindness, dignity, and respect, and where you will always feel welcome, informed, and involved. I look forward to personally welcoming you to White Lodge and showing you why so many families place their trust in us.
