My brother-in-law lived at Waterbeach Lodge from August 2017 to November 2021. His dementia got ever worse and his care needs were ever more demanding. He received exemplary care throughout, right until the end. Thank you to the manager and every one of your caring colleagues.

The carers are always so patient, caring and kind. The home is clean and the food is very good. Entertainment takes place regularly. Staff are approachable and friendly. Very happy I chose this home for mum. She has been a resident for 2 1/2 years.

Mum’s been resident on the 2nd-floor Dementia Unit (The Willows) for over two years, reassuringly settling very quickly due to ambience, friendly, caring and warming nature of all staff. Mum has made numerous new friends, is never alone and reassuringly, there is always a member of staff close at hand,
monitoring and ensuring mum is safe, in a safe environment and being cared for 24/7. Medication is arranged by the home and is administered by trained staff. An entertainment’s coordinator arranges daily activities for all residents. Layout, colour themes and sensory nature of the Dementia Unit makes all the residents feel at home and at ease, wide hallway is adorned with sensory foliage, and greenery images disguising lifts and exits, pastel-coloured bedroom doors, with resident name and room no and made to look like a typical high street, with shop, restaurant, PO, Bridal Boutique and vinyl cobbled street.
The care home is set in a rural location, offset from the main road, with driveway and modern stately home appearance.

After several periods of respite, my dad chose to stay at Waterbeach Lodge. He enjoys that there is always so much going on and that the staff are so friendly, attentive, caring and helpful.
We have been impressed by the responsiveness of staff and their knowledge and interest in Dad. He's not just
a number to them, they have their finger on what is happening for him, and communicate well with us. Dad has gone from being someone who was adamant he never wanted to leave his home to someone who is more than happy to live in a 5-star hotel!

Waterbeach Lodge offers a welcoming, warm and homely environment. The home and gardens are lovely. All staff are respectful and caring towards my grandfather, and he feels valued and safe living there.

Well managed, friendly and caring staff. Well situated in well-maintained grounds, Waterbeach Lodge provides a stable and comfortable home for my aunt. Very unlikely to find better in the area.

Before choosing Waterbeach Lodge for mum we'd looked around a few homes and it was by far the best - nicely decorated rooms, always smells and looks clean, large well set out lounge. There is a lovely sunny terrace with access to the large well-maintained garden and a conservatory area which is great
for family gatherings - we celebrated mum's 90th birthday there.


Mum greatly enjoyed her time at Waterbeach Lodge especially the outside entertainers who come in. The care she received was fantastic throughout her time there. When mum was diagnosed with cancer, we worried that we'd be asked to move her to a nursing home but Waterbeach Lodge assured us that she could stay with them until the end. They worked with the NHS palliative care team and the carers and management could not have been better; they were so kind and loving to her. I feel we couldn't have chosen a better place for mum's last two years; it was certainly a huge relief to us that she was so well looked after and happy.

It has taken him a little while to settle in, but the staff were very patient with him and now he is really enjoying it! He came to ours for his birthday but he was itching to get back. Whilst with us he was always talking about activities and people at The Lodge. He certainly sees it as his home now!
It makes me feel so relieved he is happy!

We are extremely happy with my mother's placement at Waterbeach Lodge.
The only real issue is that the food is not particularly to my mother's taste.
The staff are very helpful in providing a salad as an alternative to the main lunch menus and have also helped to source her favourite breakfast brioche.
Her
appetite has naturally diminished as she has become more sedentary.
We are grateful for the good care that mum receives.

My mother has been in Waterbeach Lodge now for two years and throughout that time her health has deteriorated and her needs have increased. I have found the care that she gets is very good and the staff are very attentive. They treat her with love and care and respect. The building is always clean and
tidy and never smells of urine. The communal sitting room is large, spacious and airy. There are always carers providing support in the sitting room and making conversation with the residents. Since Mum has been restricted to her room and bed she is frequently monitored and staff spend time with her, just talking, helping her drink and eat, or providing her with comfort care.
The entertainment that is provided by outside entertainers is very good and most really try to get the residents joining in. I like that school children and preschoolers also visit.
I have visited other homes as a therapy dog volunteer and none have come up to the standard of Waterbeach Lodge.

This is a very well managed operation with high morale among the workers. This leads to a high standard of attention and care to meet the individual needs of residents. The home is very beautifully appointed, more like a luxury hotel and furthermore is in a historic building with real character. All
this leads to a high-value experience for residents.

We have found the staff very kind to my mother-in-law and living there has helped her gain her self-confidence and improve her general mood as she was quite depressed and anxious after the recent death of her husband. The general atmosphere is very friendly and there seems to be quite a community feel

My mother was extremely reluctant to move into residential care, but changing care needs, following major surgery, meant it was an inevitable step. My sister and I had researched and visited a number of care homes locally and both agreed that Waterbeach Lodge was our first choice for communal and personal
facilities, location and general feel.
In the six months my mother has been at Waterbeach Lodge she has made friends, received not only excellent care but also friendship from the care team. She has been involved in varied activities each week and has been taken out on trips despite her lack of mobility. She feels safe and secure and the loneliness she felt when living on her own is no longer an issue. If she is ill, the doctor is called immediately, she has visits from the chiropodist, optician, mobile library etc and has her hair done in the in-house salon every week. She has been encouraged to continue with hobbies and start new ones.

Overall the standard of care at Waterbeach Lodge is very good. It is evident from the investment that has gone into the care hotel that the owners want to offer high-quality care. It is lead by a very good Care Manager and supported by a good team of friendly and caring staff. The accommodation is
of a high standard and is clean throughout.


My mother has used Waterbeach Lodge for respite care since 2014 and more recently has gone into permanent care there. Waterbeach Lodge offers residential care and dementia care on The Willows. There is a good ratio of staff to residents on The Willows to give more one to one care.


The transition from respite resident to permanent resident was made very smoothly. The staff made the whole process go with ease and helped me through a difficult process between going from care at home to permanent residential care.


I highly recommend Waterbeach Lodge for respite and residential care.

The staff are always very kind and everyone seems well cared for. The top floor, where mum has been moved to, is well thought out. Except for the problem of the heat which is unacceptable in my opinion. And also the location makes it hard for residents with reduced mobility, like mum, to get taken out
on the veranda or garden with ease.

My Mother has been a resident for 18 months. Her room is excellent and the care she receives matches it. Could not praise the management and staff too highly. They take a very personal care of their residents and make the effort to have regular visits from entertainers.
