Waterbeach Lodge is a stunning, purpose-built care home situated on the A10 Ely Road, in the quiet village of Waterbeach. The home enjoys views over the Cambridgeshire countryside and is set in six acres of beautifully landscaped gardens.

Unlike traditional clinical settings, Waterbeach Lodge focuses on a 'hotel-style' aesthetic, with architecture and interior designed to be accessible, light and airy, and offering modern facilities alongside a welcoming home-from-home atmosphere.

There are plenty of communal spaces where Residents can meet and converse, partake in daily activities or simply enjoy the views of the wildlife in the extensive grounds. The top floor is dedicated to dementia care, where large, low-sill windows allow residents an elevated perspective of the gardens and surrounds.

All bedroom suites have en-suite facilities, direct-dial telephone and television points, alongside state-of-the-art adjustable orthopaedic beds and an emergency call system as standard. The spacious design of each suite allows easy access, including the use of wheelchairs and hoists.

Dedicated Activities Coordinators curate a weekly schedule balancing lively social events with focused pursuits, and residents can participate as much or as little as they like in shows and events, community singing, dancing, art and crafts, cards, quizzes and games, fitness activities and excursions. Alternatively, seek out quieter pastimes in places like the well-stocked library, tucked away from the larger lounges (large print and audiobooks available), engage in a game of chess, or enjoy the splendid gardens or indulge in some pampering at the hair and beauty salon.

Waterbeach Lodge encourages visits from family, friends, children and pets at any time. If you're considering a stay and would like to look round, it's recommended that you call ahead to arrange this, just so that a member of staff can be on hand to answer any questions.

The staff are always very kind and everyone seems well cared for. The top floor, where mum has been moved to, is well thought out. Except for the problem of the heat which is unacceptable in my opinion. And also the location makes it hard for residents with reduced mobility, like mum, to get taken out
on the veranda or garden with ease.

My Mother has been a resident for 18 months. Her room is excellent and the care she receives matches it. Could not praise the management and staff too highly. They take a very personal care of their residents and make the effort to have regular visits from entertainers.

I found the home and staff to be very helpful. They went out of their way to try to accommodate a family member at very short notice.
The rooms were very nice, as is the rest of the care home.
All of the staff Ii spoke too or had anything to do with were very caring and helpful.
This is always a
very tense and stressful time, but it was a smooth process with all the help from the staff.

The manager always answered all questions asked and went above and beyond what I would expect.

I would highly recommend this care hotel to anyone looking for care for one of their loved ones. There is a lovely atmosphere when you walk in and this never seems to change.

Thank you for your care and compassion.

Current Review Score: 9.6 (9.632)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.6 (9.632) out of 10 for Waterbeach Lodge is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.8 out of 5 from 15 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.9 out of 5 from 15 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.757 for Waterbeach Lodge is calculated as follows: ( (138 Excellents x 5) + (35 Goods x 4) + (4 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 177 Ratings = 4.757
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 4.875 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Waterbeach Lodge is based on 15 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 3.875
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 46 registered maximum number of service users is 9.2, which has been reached with 15 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
