My husband has just had his first experience of respite in Hardwick Dene. Although very pleased to see me when I picked him up after his week’s stay he straight way said to the staff “I shall be back” which was a very good indication that he had enjoyed his stay. I was very impressed by how friendly, helpful and efficient all the staff were. Hopefully he shall “return” for his next respite week. Thank you all so much.

My Dad went into Hardwick Dene in May 2021. We were very worried about him and how he would settle. He has settled well thanks to the care and attention the staff have given him. He is relaxed and content. The setting of Hardwick has suited my Dad really well as it's surrounded by beautiful countryside and it's very peaceful. During the summer months, the marquee in the garden was put to good use with the residents enjoying live music and gentle exercise. The food is good and my Dad has gained a little weight since arriving at Hardwick. The staff and management are a very cheerful and happy group of people who are constantly chatting, caring, laughing with the residents. Unfortunately due to Covid visiting has been more structured with an appointment system in place. The staff make sure we have regular contact with Dad with two visits per week but more if there are extra spaces which there quite often is.

When my mum first went into Hardwick Dene, we were very worried about her going into a care home. After an initial settling in period, my mum has flourished over the past 12-months, which is of great comfort to us.
The staff are extremely caring and look after the residents really well. There are normally a lot of activities, trips out and fun things to do. Obviously with Covid-19 things have changed, but the staff do their best to keep the residents occupied and happy. The home is well managed and thanks to their quick action, closed the home really early to prevent an outbreak of Covid and whilst it has been difficult not seeing family members, the residents and staff have been kept safe.

There is a lovely garden area for the residents to enjoy; a new marquee which they use a lot, weather permitting. The residents themselves seem to be relaxed and happy.

Dad has been a resident here for 11-months.
Hardwick Dene is a happy place with beautiful grounds. The indoor area is well maintained, and there have been lots of lovely refurbishments of communal areas.
All staff are friendly, helpful and caring, and there is normally lots going on to entertain residents.
Difficult times for all since Covid-19 it’s been 4-months since we have been able to visit, but the home has acted very professionally to protect all the residents and keep them safe.
WhatsApp and Zoom meetings have been available to keep in touch.

Very happy with Hardwick Dene overall.

Very happy with the service I get from Hardwick Dene. I have full confidence that my father is being looked after well, with all his needs met, during these strange times and even in normal times. Father had an outpatient review appt at the hospital, the review went ahead via telephone call with a member of the carer staff with him. With my father being in Hardwick Dene it has taken a lot of pressure off me during the Covid pandemic. I love the Facebook entries as it shows all the activities they are doing, and all they can to entertain the residents.

In the time our Mother has been a resident at Hardwick Dene, we have found the staff to be caring and supportive in all aspects of personalised care.
The home is clean and tidy, many areas refreshed and updated. Food is plentiful, varied of excellent quality.
Activities are many suiting the needs of individuals, dance, exercise, singing, flower arranging to name but a few.

Over the last 3-months, it has been a difficult time for all, we appreciate the care and safety shown to residents, and we are indebted to the staff for the professionalism. Although we have not been able to visit, we have been able to communicate through WhatsApp telephone and Zoom meetings. Our appreciation and thanks go to you all.

The kindness, care and compassion shown by the staff at all levels are excellent at Hardwick Dene. I am confident our mother receives the best care, nothing is too much trouble for the staff. She is safe and comfortable in her surroundings. The activities fit the needs of residents who enjoy many events. Sadly the coronavirus has greatly impacted in terms of visiting, but we have been able to speak to staff and our mother via the telephone and WhatsApp, there have also been Zoom quizzes. Management has kept us up to date with the situation, and a Zoom meeting was very helpful. In my view, management acted very promptly and professionally in closing the home to visitors at the very beginning of the pandemic, and we thank them wholeheartedly for all their hard work in keeping the home safe. It has and continues to be a difficult time, and we wish the staff and residents well. Thank you.

I cannot rate Hardwickdene and the staff highly enough.
My Aunt has been quite poorly recently and we are unable to see her due to the lockdown.
Although a very worrying time, this has been made so much easier than it may have been. Staff have kept in touch with us at all times and have taken the time to explain everything also making sure we were ok. It is obvious the care they have for their residents and this truly is a Home in all the right ways.
A great place with the most amazing care, surrounded by fun, laughter and smiles.
Saying thank you never seems enough for what you all do every day but we want you all to know that we are very grateful, knowing she is looked after as one of the family.

Thank you.

I come in every day to see my partner and from what I can see, all of the staff are brilliant with all of the residents. They work very hard but always have a big smile on their faces and they do everything they can to make the residents happy.

If I ever have to go into a care home, this is the one I would like to be in.

The love and care shown to my mother and others is second to none. I visit every other day and have never seen anyone spoken to or dealt with in any way other than kindly or gently.

The food is excellent and plentiful, with biscuits at coffee or tea time. The rooms are kept very clean.

Hardwick Dene has always been very welcoming and have kept me up to date regarding my mother's condition. At first, she was encouraged to mix with other residents and join in activities although this is no longer possible the home is giving her a high standard of care suiting her needs as best they can. I am confident that my mother is being looked after as well as is possible in difficult circumstances.

My mum was a resident at Hardwick Dene from January 2016 to November 2017 when she sadly passed away.

During this time, mum was well cared for and loved. Specifically, during her last few days, the staff were very caring to both mum and family members, to the extent that a room was made available for family who lived some distance away and wanted to be close during her final hours.

This 'home' ticks all the boxes for residents and family. Our children live quite a distance from the home but if they are concerned their contact, by phone, is met with courtesy and if 'Dad' is able to hold a conversation the phone is handed over to him. I am treated like a member of the 'family' and occasionally stay for lunch and shared Christmas dinner with the residents. The use of facebook actively links family members with their Father, who appears on many outings. He doesn't knit, paint or read books so local outings are very important for his wellbeing. When he is ill the staff inform me straight away and the Doctors were known to him before he went into the home which has helped tremendously. So we are confident with the 'care' he is receiving and the attitude and sensitivity everyone has shown.

It took one phone call at a time when I could not cope with my father's care 24 hours, for him to be collected and settled in his new room the same day.

My father receives the best possible care from kind and caring professionals, they go above and beyond what would be expected, making sure their wellbeing, interests, medical and personal needs are met. They have also been a huge support to me and my family.
