Over all time Rose Cottage has 77 reviews.
My aunt has been a resident at Rose Cottage for 6 months. She has settled very well and has been made to feel that Rose Cottage is her home. The staff have been warm and welcoming and have ensured that she is safe and well fed. When I have met with the staff, (which has been difficult and infrequent due to Covid restrictions), they have shown a true interest in my aunt - regarding both her physical and mental well being. In conculsion, I am very pleased with the care provided by Rose Cottage and my aunt is happy - which is very reassuring to me.
Thank you very much for your review and kind words. We will share your nice comments with our staff.
Mum and I had looked at Rose Cottage when she was planning to move from her home. Her increasing frailty meant that at short notice she was accepted initially for a remedial period and then full time. That was four years ago and the experience has proved very successful. She has a perfect set up with the cottage situated in a rural environment and her room looking across the countryside. Throughout the quality of care has been very good - experienced and attentive with a high level of continuity of staff especially at the manager level. The change of ownership has meant there is scope for capital expenditure to take place and new processes introduced - net improvement although mum is a natural worrier so any change has to be closely explained. Finally, the team's performance through covid has been and remains exemplary.
Thank you, Paul, for your review and kind words. We will share your nice comments with our staff at Rose Cottage.
Rose Cottage is an excellent Care Home. The staff are delightful and the level of care is excellent. My mother is very contented and happy there and the food is delicious and the activities are both stimulating and constructive. Above all everyone is patient and kind.
Thank you so much for taking the time to share your experience with Rose Cottage. We are very proud of the home and especially proud of the team who work so hard to ensure we maintain a happy and engaging home for all.
My Mum has been living at Rose Cottage now for two years. She has Alzheimer’s and was not coping living on her own even though she had carers coming in two or three times each day. After a short spell in hospital after a fall, it was recommended by the hospital staff that Mum ought to be in residential care. Mum had stayed at Rose Cottage for a weeks respite care the previous summer so we knew that the staff were wonderful. Not once has Mum asked to go home; which is pretty amazing as she can be quite contrary. Although the recent COVID 19 outbreak has meant changes to Mums routine, the staff have managed to keep her active and smiling. They take her for wheelchair tours of the grounds and get her involved in all manner of crafts, quizzes and singing. The staff arranged to Face a Time calls so we keep in touch during the lockdown, which always ends up making us both laugh. I don’t know what on earth I would have done without the brilliant caring family that is the Rose Cottage team.
My Father had to move the care home due to previous facility closing down. I was recommended to Rose Cottage by various professional contacts in the area. I visited and was shown around by an excellent member of staff, who spent a great deal of time explaining all aspects of Rose Cottage. My problem then was the Pandemic, and could the move take place at all? I need not have worried. I was guided through the whole process by the manager, who covered every eventuality in the most professional manner. Dad was transported to Rose Cottage, where the Team took over his integration into Rose Cottage following all possible precautions. Then, every effort was made to get to know my Dad and the important things that make his life complete. He has settled in so well, and I am thrilled at how well managed the whole event was conducted. I have regular contact from so many committed staff members who have guided me so thoroughly and made Dad so welcome, I just cannot praise them enough. Thank You
Thank you so much for taking the time to share your experiences of Rose Cottage. During this difficult time for everyone, it is important to us that people know we are still able to offer a safe and supportive environment and service. There are still people out there who could benefit from the support and will hopefully be encouraged to come forward as a result of your kind words.
The staff are very caring and there are certain touches which really make a difference. Such as, there is always someone to call on when you need help as a family member. My grandma has passed away now. Thank you Rose Cottage for her short stay. She missed her home so much but you made it as easy as it could have been.
Thank you for this heartfelt review on your grandmother's time with us, we are so pleased that it had a positive impact on her feelings towards residential care and that she enjoyed her time with us. I will pass this on to the staff who work hard to ensure each resident receives compassionate care.
My father receives excellent care while residing at Rose Cottage and considers himself very lucky to be so well looked after. He enjoys the meals served to him and benefits from structure and routine.
The staff and management were so warm and friendly and nothing was too much trouble. Everyone took the time to get to know my mum and she really felt she had a place in the home. My mother could exhibit challenging behaviour but they were professional and calm and could always make her smile. She absolutely loved the food, especially the trifle and put on weight while at the home. She was able to keep her beloved dog with her for the day as she wanted and he got lots of cuddles and treats.
Thank you so much for your lovely review, we are glad your mother had a positive time with us at Rose Cottage and it was lovely to have Sam with us also. I will pass your comments onto the staff team.
The food is excellent and there is a choice of menu for midday and evening meals. Also most days the residents have activities that they can join in if they wish. And quite regularly trips out are arranged.
The home is clean and hygiene is a top priority, so when entering the home there are no bad odours. It is a welcoming and homely atmosphere.
The staff are very caring not only for the resident, but in my personal experience for the relatives as well.
Of the ten or so care homes that I looked at in Feb 2017, Rose Cottage was by far the best option - I was impressed with the carer who showed me around and felt welcome. I thought the home was light and airy, clean and odour free, and the residents seemed content. I was particularly impressed by the range and breadth of the activities programme and the number of activity coordinators. Nothing since has changed my opinion. My mother is happy, enjoys her food, has put on weight and is an active participant in activities. In the early summer, there was a lull in activities due to staffing issues but this has now been resolved and the programme is better than ever with many options available. She is well cared for and having dementia the staff are kind and sympathetic to her condition. I remain confident in the management, carers and activities staff - my choice of care home has been totally justified.
Thank you for your excellent review. We are pleased that you are happy with the new activities programme and that you feel your mother is receiving such good care. It is a pleasure to have your mother with us and we will pass your positive comments to the team.
My mother has been a resident at Rose Cottage for over eight years. As time has passed, her care needs have changed and the family cannot praise the staff enough for continuing to meet those needs and the sympathetic care she has received. Staff are friendly, cheerful yet very professional: they ensure residents' dignity and well being is maintained and above all they show kindness. The food is excellent and help is given at mealtimes where it is needed. My mother has been so lucky to be living there.
Thank you so much for sharing your feelings on the service Rose Cottage provides. Please be assured that your views will be shared with the staff so they too can be proud of what we are achieving.
It has managed to retain it's homely informal atmosphere, rather than being institutional. The grounds are an absolute delight, the communal rooms very cheerful and comfortable, the residents' rooms spacious and of a high standard. Staff are friendly (love the fact that they don't wear uniforms), the food is great (was invited to join my mother for lunch) and there seems to be plenty of activities going on.
Thank you so much for your lovely review. We are very proud that Rose Cottage remains a homely and welcoming place for all and will share your kind words with the staff.
Our 97 yr old Aunt was fortunate to be in Rose Cottage, and was well cared for and looked after in a kind and professional manner. Nothing ever seemed to be any trouble - all the staff were kind and patient. All the family were very happy with Rose Cottage and its lovely garden.
My days in this Home have been very happy. The carers are very kind, help is constant. Meals are nicely presented and appetising and medical attention has also been very good. There are daily programmes for social events. I was so pleased to move from another home in this County. My room is very pleasant with a double aspect. I do wish the Wifi connection was better in my room. I have had to move out to do this survey. Having had to leave my home as I can no longer cope. I deem myself very fortunate to be living here.
My mother has resided here for two years and has had excellent care throughout. Staff are friendly, professional and keep me well informed.
Mum's physical health has improved greatly since she came to the home in November and she really enjoys the daily activities. Generally, communication is good and if I email or call I get a prompt response. I always feel very welcome when I visit.
The only thing I would say is difficult is when someone presses their call button it bleeps loudly and repeatedly near my mum's room and it's very irritating for her and even for me as a visitor. If there could be some other way staff could be alerted without this it would be a big improvement.
My mum went to live in Rose Cottage in November 2017, unfortunately, she passed away in March 2018. I believe the care she received was first class in all aspects. She was able to join in activities which were held daily within the home and she particularly enjoyed the outside entertainers who occasionally visited the home in the afternoons. As her health deteriorated she required more care which was excellent they not only cared for her but also helped the family through this difficult period. Mum was 97 when she passed away she had never required residential care before last year so I cannot compare with any other homes but, I can honestly say I had no complaints.
Pleasant surroundings with activities and outings.
My mother resided in Rose Cottage for 3 years until she passed away peacefully last week. I cannot thank Rose Cottage enough. The support and the staff are not only carers but have become my friends too. The care and the home are wonderful and I wouldn't hesitate to recommend it.
My mother came in for a period of respite at Rose Cottage and had a very happy stay. She will be coming back later in the summer. She looked very happy when we collected her. The staff were great and her room was so pretty with the garden outside. Thank you.

I love Rose Cottage, it’s homely, all of the staff are passionate and genuinely care. Our staff stay for a long time and it feels like one big family. Away from work, I enjoy spending time with family and friends, and taking my dog for walks in the country.

I have worked at Rose Cottage since 2017. Prior to that, I was a carer and a cook. I thoroughly enjoy my position here - it's my calling! I find my work very satisfying and fulfilling, spreading happiness and joy around the home. I enjoy encouraging independence and finding new skills with our residents, as well as remembering and making new memories. Our programme is fully informed by the residents, and it is very varied - from exercise to all sorts of crafts and even our own weekly religious service. We run a breakfast club and a supper club, which makes mealtimes more convivial. I also run the day centre at Rose Cottage, available for local people 65+ to drop in and enjoy activities and a meal with our community.

I joined Rose Cottage nearly 15 years ago, working my way up from care assistant to senior carer and into my new role. I support the managers and the rest of the team to oversee care plans, liaise with healthcare professionals, check medication, do care reviews with families and supervise staff. I love the role - it is different every day and I enjoy making a difference to the residents' lives.

I joined as a Senior Care Assistant in 2020, and I've been in care for over 35 years. I support residents with their everyday lives, making sure they have the help they need to maintain independence and dignity. My favourite part of the role is without a doubt interacting with the residents - learning about their lives - you learn something new every day! I cannot imagine myself doing anything else but working in care and supporting residents to thrive.

The best thing about my job is that I never know what the day will bring! Along with my other maintenance colleague, I support life at the home by ensuring systems are ticking, we are compliant with all safety regulations, and that residents' spaces are always functional, comfortable and welcoming. I have worked in maintenance for a while, and I also used to be a carer, and I like how my new role combines both aspects of my professional life.
