From my first visit to Rose Cottage managers and staff were welcoming and supportive, encouraging us to visit regularly with Mum to help develop familiarity with the setting prior to a room becoming available. Mum moved in over two years ago now. We were impressed with the support offered to Mum to help her settle in her new home, especially to me as I initially found the transition from full-time carer back to daughter a challenge. We feel that residents are looked after with love and kindness and treated with respect and dignity. Staff are friendly, open, considerate, and helpful and visitors are welcome. The activities team offers a range of activities throughout the week, catering to the different interests and needs of residents. As a regular visitor, I enjoy supporting the activities Mum joins in with as this gives us quality time doing something together. Mum's experience at Rose Cottage is positive and we are very grateful for the love and care she is shown daily.
Thank you so much for sharing your experiences at Rose Cottage and for offering such a considerate reflection on the staff. I will be sure to share your thoughts with them as we are incredibly proud of our staff and the difference they make every day. We are also so grateful for your support of the Home and how much you are a part of the activity team. Thank you!
The home is bright and comfortable - and has the best home-from-home atmosphere in a care home setting that I have seen. Nowhere is perfect; occasionally there are minor matters that need attention, but overall these are relatively unimportant. We trust our mum to the care of Rose Cottage with great confidence.
We know we are biased but our activity team are amazing! They are passionate about life beginning again and for residents to have active, meaningful, and engaging lives where they can take ownership of their environment and not be seen as passive recipients. We feel privileged to be entrusted with...
Once we had decided we wanted to choose Rose Cottage the transition was really smooth and I felt really supported.
The rooms are nice with lovely views of the gardens from each window. The entertainment is brilliant! They do so many lovely things with the residents but there is also no pressure to join in if it's not wanted.
I would highly recommend Rose Cottage to anyone looking into a care home.
Thank you so much for sharing your experiences. We are keen to meet face-to-face with anyone who is starting their journey into care and even if we are not in the right setting we will always try to offer advice and signpost those enquiring for their loved ones. I am so pleased you felt the transition was smooth and supportive as we appreciate the move into care can be daunting.
The manager and all the staff have been very supportive and any concerns have been dealt with quickly and professionally.
When my mother was unwell staff contacted me immediately and medical assistance was sought straight away. The communication by phone and email had been open and honest and I felt reassured by any concerns that I or other family members might have.
The change in my mother has been lovely to see and she in encouraged to take part in the daily activity programme that the home provides.
Thank you so much for sharing your experience of Rose Cottage. Residents who live with dementia can find it especially difficult to move to a new setting and we are so pleased this has been a positive experience. Thank you for your warm review of the care staff who are amazing, I will be sure to share this with them.
My uncle at ninety-six, having long refused to give up living alone in his bungalow, at last agreed to move into Rose Cottage. Within days he was a different man; happy, sociable, loving all the activities, greatly appreciating the delicious meals and not having to worry about his house and garden any longer. The staff at Rose Cottage brought out the best in my uncle and he loved his time there. For the first time in his life, he had friends. The staff are very kind and caring. The home is clean (no bad smells!) and the gardens delightful.
Thank you so much for your kind words and support. I will make sure they are passed on to the staff, who had a real soft spot for your lovely uncle. Best wishes from all at Rose Cottage.
Mum moved at short notice in March 2023. We are delighted with the home. The staff are friendly and helpful and the activities team organise interesting things for residents to do on a daily basis. Mum has settled very well and we don't have to worry about her now that she is in the home. The managers are the same as when we first discussed the possibility of Mum moving into the home four years ago and everyone seems very caring. There are posher, newer care homes in the area, but Rose Cottage has a family feel to it and the staff are great. We feel very lucky there was a vacancy when we needed one.
Thank you for taking the time to share your experience of Rose Cottage. We are very grateful and proud of our staff and know they make the home what it is. We hope your comments reassure anyone who may be looking at a potential care home to call Rose Cottage.
Our friend had to be moved quickly from her original care home due to them closing. We knew she would settle better in the same area and the staff at Rose Cottage were incredibly kind and helpful, at what could have been a very stressful time. My first impressions of visiting Rose Cottage were that everywhere was clean and well organised. The move went very smoothly in October 2022. We find all the staff helpful, efficient and caring (no matter how many times we phone to query certain points). Our friend has settled well and has engaged in many activities. Because we now live some distance away we ring her regularly. A telephone was re-sited so she could answer when we rang and it's a joy hearing her sound so happy and contented. We must point out that we can only answer questions covering our three visits over the past three months.
Thank you so much for taking the time to share your experience of Rose Cottage. We understand how stressful a move can be so work hard to make it as smooth as possible so I am reassured you felt supported and the move to Rose Cottage has been a positive one.
Having been here for two and a half years I have been very happy and content. I feel at home here because everyone makes me very welcome and allows me to help in little ways. The staff and residents treat me with kindness and consideration and I'm very lucky to spend my last years here in such lovely surroundings.
We feel it is so important that those who may be looking for a care home hear the views of their peers already experiencing life at Rose Cottage. We hope it is reassuring to know that life can still be fun and engaging. Thank you so much for sharing your experiences.
The facility is beautiful, well managed and maintained. More importantly, the carers are compassionate and make a real effort to connect with their residents. They engage Mum in activities that typically put a smile on her face and I feel confident she is in good hands with everyone there. Their full staffing levels and low staff turnover hint at a positive workplace culture where the employees have fun and feel valued. Maintaining continuity benefits Mum in that they get to know her needs and can "read" her as well as is possible for someone with advanced Alzheimer's.
Thank you so much for sharing your experiences at Rose Cottage and for such a lovely review. We are so proud of this home and the hard work and commitment of our staff team and to have this recognised in person and from a distance means a lot.
My mother has been in Rose Cottage for over six years now. I have always known that she is safe and well cared for there. The care staff are great and very attentive to Mum's needs. The managers and senior team have always been very approachable if issues of concern arise. In times of greater need, for example, when an emergency hospital admission was required, the staff have been caring and sensitive not only to mum but to me as well. I have had phone calls and emails to keep me informed. Although mum has never been a great one for joining in activities, there are plenty of options and she has recently returned to playing bingo. The garden has had a lot of work recently and mum always finds it relaxing to be taken around in her wheelchair. I would have no hesitation in recommending Rose Cottage to anyone looking for a care home.
Thank you for taking the time to share your experience of Rose Cottage. We are so proud of the Home and hope honest reviews like this will encourage others to take the bold step to move into a supportive and caring Home.
This is based on my completion of the 'boxes' that I have rated some as 'good' is not a criticism but simply because I have no experience for comparison. I have been here for eight months and all my expectations have been met in a happy and friendly environment.
Thank you for sharing your experiences at Rose Cottage so new and prospective residents can feel reassured that life here is happy and fulfilling.
They keep us well informed on any issues and are involved in necessary decision-making. I find the staff are very accommodating, helpful and friendly.
Thank you so much for providing a review of Rose Cottage. We understand that moving into a care home can be a difficult decision and a big adjustment. We do work very hard to help new residents express their wishes and preferences and are so pleased your Mum is now feeling more settled.
Exceptional support was provided to ensure that my mother was able to make decisions and come to terms with her changed circumstances. The staff are very caring and attentive and have supported the whole family. Mother's health and mobility improved significantly since moving into Rose Cottage.
Thank you so much for your kind review of the home, especially highlighting the amazing care team.
My wife and I were very pleased to visit my cousin at Rose Cottage. We live quite some way away but try to keep in touch with telephone calls. However, our visit over a long weekend was well organised by my cousin’s partner’s son. It was so good to see my cousin in her room and surroundings at Rose Cottage. We were made very welcome and did not feel that we were in the way. My Cousin’s room is very nice, clean and light. The facilities seemed very good and the surroundings of the care home were very attractive. We were able to take my cousin out for a meal and also on another day to a garden centre with no difficulty. It is good now, when telephoning, that I can imagine her in her room and good having seen some of the staff and knowing that she is well cared for.
Thank you so much for taking the time to share your experience at Rose Cottage. It is so lovely now post Covid to be able to welcome friends and family back into the home and we hope you are able to come and visit again soon.
The staff at Rose Cottage looked after my mum for almost 5 years. They always did their upmost to care for and look after her even at difficult times. Whenever I visited (and this was at least weekly) the staff were always seen engaging positively with residents and they take every opportunity to provide an entertaining and stimulating environment for everyone.
Thank you so much for your kind review. Your mum was a big part of the home and is missed. We send our love to you are all her family.
Staff are very supportive of mum's needs. Mum is encouraged to partake in the daily activities. Apparently, the food is good too! Communication with the home's management is good. Now that visiting hours are more flexible, mum seems happier. Trips out organised by carers is limited, understandably due to limited staff resources, which is unfortunate as these are greatly appreciated by mum.
Thank you for taking the time to complete this review and we agree that trips out are invaluable to maintain mental and physical wellbeing. We are trying to ensure that all the residents are offered the chance to get out and about whether it's a trip to Tesco or to feed the horses. Encouraging life...
Generally a well run care home in a very pleasant rural location, within tranquil grounds surrounded by open countryside. Catering is a strong point but lack of staff, particularly at weekends is an issue.
Thank you for providing us with an honest review of our home and for your kind observations that the home is well run with good food. Staffing throughout the industry has taken a knock following COVID and the new requirements placed on care staff by the Government. We have successfully recruited...
Mum moved into Rose Cottage 13 months ago with Alzheimer’s and dementia. Her needs have changed over this period and the staff have continued to meet her needs in a caring and understanding way. As Mum has dementia it is hard to build an accurate picture of her day to day life but the staff are always available and happy to answer any questions and the photos on Facebook are great. The staff should be highly commended for their efforts around communication with families and maintaining activities for residents. Thank you to everyone.
Thank you for your kind words, it’s a privilege to be able to care for your mum and we are thrilled with how well she has adapted to life at our home.
Every phone call or visit through a Covid-safe pod was difficult knowing we couldn’t hug nanny or hold her hand but seeing first-hand the care and attention they gave her when we couldn’t was truly heartwarming. You can see that the carers genuinely care about the residents and take good care of them.
Nanny has a brilliant sense of humour and she loves to have a joke and a giggle with the carers. They are very warm with her.
She says that she feels ‘very spoilt’ and looked after there. Whenever I am there or on the phone, there is always someone popping in to check on her or bring her a drink.
She raves about the food too!
Thank you so much for this glowing review of our service and most importantly our care staff. We are so proud of their unfaltering dedication, generosity and positivity, especially through this last year. It is so true that it has been a heartbreaking year with residents and families not being able...
Rose Cottage at Broughton is an excellent care home. My mum has now been there for just over three and a half years, and she is very happy there. The care is truly wonderful - they have nursed her through various crises where we all thought she might not pull through and during the pandemic they have worked so hard to keep everyone safe. Unfortunately, Covid did enter the home in December 2020 and Mum did test positive, but she has survived that and some other infections since - all down to the superb care she has received. All of the staff are friendly, helpful and communicate regularly if there is a problem and work with you to resolve it. Rose Cottage was recommended to me by someone I knew and I would not hesitate to recommend it to anyone who is looking for good quality care for their loved one.
Thank you so much for taking the time to complete such a lovely review. As you have touched on, this year has been particularly challenging and we are so grateful, not only to our wonderful staff but also for all the support and understanding from all the friends and relatives; Rose Cottage feels...

I love Rose Cottage, it’s homely, all of the staff are passionate and genuinely care. Our staff stay for a long time and it feels like one big family. Away from work, I enjoy spending time with family and friends, and taking my dog for walks in the country.

I have worked at Rose Cottage since 2017. Prior to that, I was a carer and a cook. I thoroughly enjoy my position here - it's my calling! I find my work very satisfying and fulfilling, spreading happiness and joy around the home. I enjoy encouraging independence and finding new skills with our residents, as well as remembering and making new memories. Our programme is fully informed by the residents, and it is very varied - from exercise to all sorts of crafts and even our own weekly religious service. We run a breakfast club and a supper club, which makes mealtimes more convivial. I also run the day centre at Rose Cottage, available for local people 65+ to drop in and enjoy activities and a meal with our community.

I joined Rose Cottage nearly 15 years ago, working my way up from care assistant to senior carer and into my new role. I support the managers and the rest of the team to oversee care plans, liaise with healthcare professionals, check medication, do care reviews with families and supervise staff. I love the role - it is different every day and I enjoy making a difference to the residents' lives.

I joined as a Senior Care Assistant in 2020, and I've been in care for over 35 years. I support residents with their everyday lives, making sure they have the help they need to maintain independence and dignity. My favourite part of the role is without a doubt interacting with the residents - learning about their lives - you learn something new every day! I cannot imagine myself doing anything else but working in care and supporting residents to thrive.

The best thing about my job is that I never know what the day will bring! Along with my other maintenance colleague, I support life at the home by ensuring systems are ticking, we are compliant with all safety regulations, and that residents' spaces are always functional, comfortable and welcoming. I have worked in maintenance for a while, and I also used to be a carer, and I like how my new role combines both aspects of my professional life.
