Chiswick House is an outstanding-rated care home situated on the outskirts of Norwich city centre. The home provides short-term, respite care and longer term support, based on each person's individual needs.

Originally a large Victorian building, Chiswick House has been adapted into a homely and welcoming care home with a grand entrance hall, dining room and friendly communal areas. The home's 32 comfortable bedrooms are situated around the home, with most benefiting from en-suite bathrooms. There is also a hair salon and adapted bathrooms. A bright conservatory overlooks the home's well-presented garden which are surrounded by trees. The home has recently underdone an extension to create 6 new bedrooms with ensuite facilities and an enlarged kitchen area.

Residents enjoy a full activities programme at the home. There are regular trips out to the local area, including visits to local cafes, parks, shops and the historic sites in Norwich city centre.

I was reluctant to leave my own house, but my daughters realised that the time had come for me to stop living alone. I don't think they could have picked a better place than this. I am provided with the vegetarian diet I require, have a very pleasant room with en suite toilet and entertainment and occupations
of various kind are regularly provided.

My mother has been a resident for 5 years. The staff are caring and keep a sense of humour while looking after the needs of residents. The food is good and varied, I have joined mum for lunch on several occasions and always enjoy the meal. There are a variety of activities and entertainment on offer
each week. I am reassured that mum is happy and being treated with respect and dignity.

Having spent time visiting an elderly relative in care homes, I can say on good authority, in particular how wonderful the staff and the facilities are in general in 'Chiswick House'. I have been really impressed. P.S. After eating a meal there, I can also rave about the food. The only danger is that
the 'in-mates' will grow in size. It was delicious.

We feel very comfortable visiting our mother-in-law. Staff are always helpful, friendly and cheerful. Everyone keeps us well informed. The atmosphere is very homely and cosy. We have used a few care home and would not want mum to be anywhere else.

Current Review Score: 9.4 (9.359)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.4 (9.359) out of 10 for Chiswick House is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.7 out of 5 from 7 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.7 out of 5 from 7 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.659 for Chiswick House is calculated as follows: ( (59 Excellents x 5) + (18 Goods x 4) + (5 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 82 Ratings = 4.659
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 4.7 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Chiswick House is based on 7 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 10 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, and then 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews and then 0.1 Points for the next five Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.100, 7th = 0.100, 8th = 0.100, 9th = 0.100, 10th = 0.100) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.1 + 0.1 = 3.7
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 32 registered maximum number of service users is 6.4, which has been reached with 7 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
