My godmother was very well cared for. Nothing was too much trouble and the staff were unfailingly kind to her. She really did feel at home in Cromwell House and relatively happy. I say ’relatively’ because she disliked growing old and everything that comes with old age. But she always had a smile for people, she enjoyed the activities, and she said the food was good! So she was contented with where she was living and was never stressed or unhappy. She loved the gardens which are very well maintained, and colourful in the summer. She and I spent many occasions sitting in the sun, wearing one of the many sunhats which you could borrow from the hat stand. Thank you, Cromwell House.
I have known a little about this home as I had a sister who used to work here a few years ago.
This home has such a warm atmosphere and so much love, care, and patience is shown to us.
The food is very good.
The staff all seem to get on so well together and seem to find time to talk to us which I find really good.
I will ensure your comments are shared with the team.
I have been impressed by the friendly atmosphere, the standard of care, the willing, cheerful and helpful carers and the way staff cope with individuals needs.
My room is pleasant, though small, with a view out to the well-kept gardens with comfortable chairs and sun umbrellas. All rooms have an en-suite with a shower and bath a short walk along the corridor.
Activities are many and varied ie, films, musicians playing, singing, with and without the residents, keep fit, games, readings, expeditions, services in the residents chapel and transport to the Methodist church on Sunday. The hairdresser, chiropodist and dentist all visit.
There is a safe in every room and a code to prevent unauthorised people from entering and leaving. There is a fire alarm practice once a month.
Administration of Cromwell House is very good. Managers are in close touch and any difficulties are soon dealt with.
At least one incident suggested that the same was not true at the centre. Perhaps Cromwell should be given more freedom.
I am sorry to hear that your experiences of our Central Support Office have not been to your satisfaction. I will ensure that your feedback is shared with the Centre.
My health has much improved since becoming a resident, this has been noticed by my relatives.

My mother arrived at Cromwell House in August 2016 to be nearer to us in Norfolk. Ever since she has been in Norwich she has had nothing but praise for the home and the care staff. She is so pleased with her room and the new - the gardens. We are so pleased with the high standard of care and cleanliness of the home and also the high standard and variety of the food provided throughout the day. Within days of her arrival, she went on a trip into Norfolk - which she so enjoyed. The programme of (high) activities at the home is so very varied and stimulating. The standard of the home so reflects the high expectations of the management.
Aunty has been a resident of Cromwell House for ten years. Over this time she has had many health issues - each time the staff have looked after her with kindness and professionalism. Aunty is very happy and joins in when she can with all the trips and activities. The management and seniors have kept me informed as to her health and welfare, and the family feel we can contact them at any time.
Thank you for taking the time to feedback your experiences of Cromwell House. I am so pleased to hear that the staff team have looked after your Aunty for many years with kindness and professionalism. Your comments are much appreciated and I will ensure that they are shared with the team.
The managers and all the staff were very kind, efficient and helpful. The rooms were kept clean, and the meals were very varied and good. I highly recommend this home.

Mum has been living at Cromwell House for two years now. She is cared for extremely well and always tells me how well she is looked after. As I live far away from Norwich, the staff ensure they keep me informed about mum's health and any changes or concerns. Cromwell House is spacious, clean and has a fresh smell. Activities are organised for residents that are suitable for them. They even had eggs in an incubator - mum loved to watch the chicks when they hatched.
Thank you for your feedback regarding Cromwell House which is much appreciated. I am pleased to hear that your Mum is extremely well cared for and you are kept up to date with any changes or concerns. I will ensure your comments are shared with our team.
- Laundry - the in-house facility is questionable in terms of the fact that incorrect items being regularly returned to respective rooms.
- Toilets - common toilets for residents and visitors needs cleaning more regularly and need deodorisers.
- Entertainment/activities - my mother and other residents say that they would like a more comprehensive programme of activities during the day and that they should last longer.
Thank you for taking the time to feedback your comments regarding Cromwell House. Your feedback is important to us. Please be assured that they are received as constructive criticism and will be used to review the service we offer and identify any improvements that can be made. Thank you again.
Mother started residing at Cromwell House early July and has settled in very well, no doubt with the assistance and understanding of all the staff. In talking to her she only has praise for the staff, the comfort of her room and very good food. Her only criticism is the portions of food could be larger.

A very enjoyable outing to the Norfolk Broads with lunch on the boat, very memorable.
The 93 year old is wheel-chair bound. We talk as of old although he is less mentally alert. He sits in the entrance listening to classical music CD's.
Cromwell House is a friendly caring place with a uplifting feel. My father has been made so welcome. I am happy to know he is as well cared for.

I have not been in any other home so cannot make a comparison, but I would think this is as good as you could get. The main fault I find it that carers are in such a hurry and don't listen to what you ask them to do. I do not think they have enough training in things like putting shoes on. Some are good at cutting up food or feeding people who do not feed themselves, but some just stand about in the dining room talking among themselves. Some of the carers talk to us as is if we were naughty children. I think 2 hour shifts are too long, especially when many residents have a degree of dementia.

Meet the Team (1)

Jennifer began her journey at MHA Cromwell House in 2003 as a care assistant, steadily progressing through roles including senior carer and assistant manager, before becoming home manager in 2008. While she initially hadn’t aspired to management, her passion for care and the supportive culture at MHA led her to grow into the role. Colleagues recently recognised her long service with flowers and a special cake, celebrating her commitment to the home, which offers residential and respite care for 38 residents.
Reflecting on her journey, Jennifer shared how a flatmate introduced her to MHA Cromwell House and how she instantly connected with its warm atmosphere. Despite early doubts about a management path, she embraced new responsibilities, drawing on her frontline experience to relate to her team and lead with empathy. The challenges of the pandemic further reinforced her resilience and sense of purpose.
