My mother stayed at Cromwell House for six weeks for recovery from surgery. She was extremely well looked after. Neither she, nor the family, have any complaints – indeed the opposite. The staff were very kind and patient. The few health problems which arose during her stay were dealt with very quickly. She reports the food was delicious. The car park, community space and garden made visiting easy.
Thank you for leaving such a positive review. I am so pleased that your mum chose Cromwell House to recuperate, and it was wonderful to see her get to go back home.
Staff are always so happy and friendly. Always making me feel welcome and at home when visiting. I couldn't think of a better team I would want caring for my grandmother. Her room is always clean and tidy, she always has fluids by her side in case she gets thirsty and my grandad is always looked after when he visits to care for her too. For this I am so grateful of everything the Cromwell House team do.
Thank you so much for taking the time to leave such a lovely review. It has been a pleasure getting to know both of your grandparents and I’m so pleased that you feel welcome also when you visit.
My mother is very happy living at Cromwell House and on Saturday, September 23rd she had a medical issue and an ambulance was called. The response and attitude of the care workers was excellent, very professional and caring.
Thank you very much for your kind words, it’s wonderful to see your mum looking so well. I shall pass your lovely comments on to the team.
My brother has been very well cared for. Various medical issues have been dealt with well. There are lots of activities and my brother's memory has improved. At home he had little social interaction, but now he takes part in activities and outings. Lovely to know he is safe and cared for. The staff are so friendly and helpful.
Thank you all so much for taking the time to review our care home. I am so pleased you are all happy with the care your loved one receives at Cromwell House, it’s our pleasure. I shall pass on your kind words to the whole amazing team.
If I could give Cromwell House ten stars I would! My nanny lived here years ago and now my mum is there. Everything you could wish for when you think about a care home is here. The home itself is bright, light, spotlessly clean and is a lovely calm but fun environment. My mum's room is lovely and cleaned twice a week. My mum herself always looks well dressed, clean and tidy. The food is amazing. It is fresh, balanced, interesting and presented well. I always feel welcome when I call in, I can visit any time at all with no notice. There is always a member of staff to see with any questions. Now for the staff. I can't say enough about how absolutely amazing they all are, they treat my mum like she is part of a big family and show her great respect, always smiling and making her laugh. Kindness runs through their bones. I feel completely and utterly confident and comforted with the care they give my mum. If you're looking for a home for a loved one, please visit Cromwell House.

Mum has now happily been a resident at Cromwell House for four years and commented many times on how lovely the staff are and how nice it is to live in such a friendly and comfortable place, especially overlooking the beautiful garden! She frequently enjoys the many lively social activities in the lounge, as well as personal attention from the visiting hairdresser and manicurist. The care home has a warm and cosy atmosphere and all staff are particularly welcoming to visitors. The most essential aspect is naturally the excellent patience, friendliness and understanding shown to Mum by Cromwell House staff, especially in relation to dementia moments. They realise how important a listening ear and a smile are! It’s a pleasure to recommend Cromwell House Care Home.

I would have no hesitation in recommending Cromwell House. My mother and my mother-in-law both receive wonderful care from the lovely, friendly care team and all the other staff members. My mother unfortunately is reliant solely on carers as she cannot manage independently and is virtually bed and chair bound, but the staff make sure she is repositioned regularly and all her care needs are met with a happy smiling face! There are plenty of activities arranged during the week, which my mother-in-law enjoys immensely! Both mums love to have their hair and pamper sessions that are provided regularly! Meals are always varied and both mums enjoy what they receive! On behalf of our families, we thank you all!

There is a wide selection of activities for the residents to join in when they wish to. The garden and outdoor space give special delight to my mother.
Any concerns come from national rather than local issues i.e. agency staff not performing well or the NHS not providing sufficient and timely support.
Cromwell House Care Home provides a friendly, safe environment together with high standards of care. The staff have triumphed in their struggle with the constraints of Covid.
I think some of the agency carers we have are very poor.
I visited for the first time as a volunteer with my two children this week and we all had the best time. The staff were welcoming and all kind and smiling. The residents were engaged and happy, the atmosphere was relaxed with lots going on. Our visit was outside and the grounds are lovely! My son, in particular, didn’t want to leave and we are looking forward to going back next week! So lovely to be able to visit care homes again and we feel lucky to have found this little gem!
Thank you for your wonderful comments. It has been so lovely to see the children visiting again after so long, I know the residents love having you all. Thank you again.
At his recent 98th birthday the staff went above and beyond expectations.
Thank you for your kind words. It has been a pleasure having your father with us and I shall pass on your kind words to the team. Thank you again.
A friendly, caring and professional home. The carers were fantastic with our father. They were thoughtful, followed his wishes and supported him during his respite care. Nothing was too much for the carers to ensure Dad had a great visit. He loved the food and was very happy. It meant that we were able to enjoy a family wedding knowing he was in safe hands. He would readily return as he felt cared for and safe.
Thank you so much for your kind words, I shall pass them onto the team. I'm so pleased your father had such a positive experience during his respite stay with us.
When Mum arrived at the care home, she was very poorly indeed. I was happy with the care she received. She slept most of the time and was not eating very much. She didn't really know where she was. She got treated very well with patients and care. She was very scared when she woke up, and she didn't know where she was. The activities coordinator was very patient. Over time she now calls Cromwell House home.
Staff, management and carers have all been helpful and friendly in difficult times. I have had no problems dealing with the home in any aspect. My aunt seems to have settled in well.
I have been very comfortable here and the staff have always been most accommodating. My spiritual needs are catered for too.
Thank you, I’m so pleased you have settled into life at Cromwell House.
Very pleased with all the help and care which my wife is receiving.
Thank you so much, it’s great to hear you have been very pleased with the care your wife is receiving.
My mother has been a resident in Cromwell House since March 2019. She suffered from depression for many years after my father's decline with dementia and subsequent death, and refused to engage with anyone except immediate family, despite frequent visits when she lived in the same village as us. When it became clear that she was no longer able to live alone, we were very glad to find Cromwell. For the first few months, she continued withdrawn and uncommunicative. However, gradually things improved, partly because her increasing short-term memory loss meant that she forgot to be miserable (!) and mainly due to the patience and kindness of the staff. She is now eating and sleeping well, and while she is still quiet, she is often to be found joining in with activities. The Cromwell House staff are responsive and supportive, and I cannot thank them enough for bringing Mum to a place of comfort and acceptance. I have complete confidence in their care, integrity and understanding. Thank you.
Thank you so much, it’s so lovely to see the positive changes in your mum. I will share your kind words with the team.
She said it's a happy place and this includes the management, the care staff and residents. 'They made me so welcome' she says. She enjoyed the food, especially the homemade cakes - orange cake, lemon drizzle cake, chocolate brownies and more.
Care staff were warm, listened and took time to spend with her when she was in her room. Staff, including the chaplain, were very good to her and she appreciated their reassurance when she had hurt her arm.
She also enjoyed socialising, the activities and all the special efforts that were made to make the home feel festive at Christmas.
As a relative, I appreciated the responsiveness of the office staff. Mum only stayed three months but has happy memories of Cromwell House and misses lots of people there she got to know.

Meet the Team (1)

Jennifer began her journey at MHA Cromwell House in 2003 as a care assistant, steadily progressing through roles including senior carer and assistant manager, before becoming home manager in 2008. While she initially hadn’t aspired to management, her passion for care and the supportive culture at MHA led her to grow into the role. Colleagues recently recognised her long service with flowers and a special cake, celebrating her commitment to the home, which offers residential and respite care for 38 residents.
Reflecting on her journey, Jennifer shared how a flatmate introduced her to MHA Cromwell House and how she instantly connected with its warm atmosphere. Despite early doubts about a management path, she embraced new responsibilities, drawing on her frontline experience to relate to her team and lead with empathy. The challenges of the pandemic further reinforced her resilience and sense of purpose.
