Dorrington House at Watton is a purpose-built home for older people, established in July 1999.

Accommodation is provided in single rooms with en-suite facilities and communal areas include a bright and airy lounge with large windows. There is a large flat screen television in this all the lounges for residents to enjoy and all entertainment takes place in this room, including the use of smart TV facilities. There are also two smaller quieter lounges for residents to use if they prefer. A bar area for residents to use is run by 'Friends of the Home'.

There is good Wi-Fi coverage at the home with video visiting and online care plans available. All areas of the home are accessible, including a large 21 person lift.

Communal areas far exceed the Government's new standards, meeting the physical and emotional needs of residents with privacy, dignity, choice and independence. A large lift provides access to the first floor and a varied menu is offered with special diets catered for, including diabetic, vegetarian and religious requirements and more.

The staff are very good and do try to help as much as they can, but there are some who do not bother about the truth and to me that is most important.

My wife and I have visited a number of nursing homes over the years, mostly visiting family and friends, none of them met the very high standards of Dorrington House. We always get a phone call whenever there appears to be some need for concern, and at Christmas time and birthdays we receive photos
of my sister-in-law.
My brother who died 18 months ago was a resident, all the staff there are kind, loving, compassionate, informative, polite and understanding.
Residents are treated with dignity - I have often said to my wife that should I ever need to go into a nursing home. I would hope it would be of this standard - me (my wife and I) have complete peace of mind in regards to our much loved sister-in-law.

The staff at Dorrington House always give excellent care they are professional, warm and friendly and fully understand mum's needs especially as her communication skills are very restricted. We always feel welcome when visiting and nothing is too much trouble.
