Overall Experience
My dad was in your lovely care home for respite. He had been a bit poorly. He arrived in a wheelchair and was nonverbal. After a few weeks, he made amazing progress. The manager is passionate about her role and always goes above and beyond her duty of care. The staff are dedicated caregivers.
We knew his carer when our mum was a resident here five years ago. We knew Mum was in good hands.

She made my dad feel at ease at all times. She reassured him and comforted him when he was feeling anxious. The care and love the team shows to their residents is amazing! My dad left Furze Hill talking and walking with the aid of a stick and with confidence too! You truly are amazing! We can't thank you enough!

Well-run care home, with nice staff who are infinitely patient (some residents with dementia are sometimes quite difficult). Warm and friendly atmosphere. My wife suffers from a neurological condition leaving her crippled, blind and unable to communicate but she seems not unhappy and still manages rapport with staff.

I've been so impressed by Furze Hill House in the few months since my mother moved there. The staff are simply wonderful. They're friendly, helpful and patient (even when getting demands from every direction!) and they always treat the residents with great kindness and respect. The management team have been really supportive too. It's clear to see that my mum is being well looked after. The care home itself is always clean, bright and welcoming. There's also a very active programme of events and activities for the residents. Since I live far away, I particularly appreciate the social media updates - it's lovely to be able to get a taste of what's going on and gives me something extra to talk about when I visit.

My mother moved into Furze Hill last summer after breaking her hip and becoming wheelchair-bound to further add to her advancing Alzheimer's. The team were great in helping and advising us on getting things sorted as quickly as we could. The team are happy, friendly, kind and professional, creating a positive and happy atmosphere in the home that is often missing. The social media page is very active and a wonderful way to check in on the many and varied activities and see my beloved mum. Most importantly, I think that the quality of care and management is very high. Both for my mum, but also care and consideration for my dad, as he adjusts and copes with living alone and my mum's condition. The only thing that I think could be improved is the food, it often looks frozen or out of a packet, portion sizes are often small and seconds are limited. My mum is inevitably declining as she has a terminal condition, but I wouldn't want her to be anywhere else. Thank you to all the team.

Overall Experience

Since the resident arrived at Furze Hill in April 2023, she has been extremely well cared for. All the staff in every department are very professional and caring. They all seem to be working in a happy environment which filters down to making the residents feel comfortable and happy. The resident was in a care home prior to Furze Hill where she became very depressed and lonely as little attention was paid to her. This changed immediately after she arrived at Furze Hill and she is now her happy mischievous self again. All the staff are very attentive and there is so much interaction between staff and residents it’s amazing. I think good management and staff are key at Furze Hill, nothing appears to be too much trouble. Cannot recommend it highly enough.

Management and staff go the extra mile to ensure residents have the best possible experience, including special events such as Valentine's, summer BBQ, fireworks, Christmas and New Year events.
Lovely, clean, purpose-built care home.
Great facilities.
Nowhere better for people with Alzheimer’s.

Would strongly recommend.

I find the carers at Furze Hill to be very good to the residents that live there.
The food is also good.

Seems a happy place to be, and something is going on for residents to do mornings and afternoons if they wish.

A lovely care home in a peaceful setting surrounded by woodland and wildlife. Care staff and management are always kind and helpful. Excellent facilities; hairdresser, small shop and manicurist as well as chef produce and a lovely variety of meals, cakes and etc. Visitors are always welcomed and there are many activities for everyone to join in if they wish.

My husband has and is receiving the most caring and compassionate support in this home. The staff are like family now. Nothing is too much trouble for them. They always have a friendly smile and will go over and above their duty to accommodate his needs. He and my family cannot raise them enough. It's the next best thing to being at home for him.

My mother has dementia and today I went in for a care plan review. It took me 20 minutes to read it! It covered everything about my mother and described her perfectly. It was fully up to date and tracked her situation as I had observed on my visits. On visiting my mum I found the lady cleaning the room fully engaged in conversation with Mum. Even the cleaning staff acre. It's an outstanding home.

Mum has been a resident of Furze Hill for about twelve months. My dad had known about Furze Hill via friends and knew where he wanted Mum to go when the time came. I totally can see why. I live in Australia, but during my visits, I could not be happier with the level of care and the environment.
All the staff are so friendly and caring. Mum always tells me how good the food is and she doesn't have to wash up! Mum is well cared for, has put on some weight and is kept nicely.

Highly recommend Furze Hill.

My mother did not want to go into a care home but we were given no choice. I am thankful she was offered a place in Furse Hill House as from day one mum received the best care. On day two when I visited she told me how kind and helpful everyone was and she felt pampered. It has now been fifteen months and mum still tells me how papered she feels. The staff in every department are friendly, kind and helpful to all residents and any visitors. They are professional and very hardworking. I cannot praise them all highly enough.

This is a well-managed home. The staff are accommodating, very polite and caring. They treat each resident as an individual and tailor activities accordingly. They keep relatives informed and you always have a continuous named point of contact. My father is content and this is a direct result of the people he comes into contact with on a daily basis.

My parents moved into Furze Hill almost a year ago during which time both their health and mobility deteriorated. The home has given me peace of mind keeping me in touch with what is happening, their care plans detail those little things that make the difference in life, and they are clean, comfortable and well-fed. Furze Hill is keeping them cocooned in a safe, happy and fulfilled environment. There are lots going on, so much space and light, welcoming staff and Salvation Army services if residents, like my parents, wish to attend, but the religious element in no way detracts from the relaxed feel of the home. They love being there which is the most important thing for me.

My father moved to Furze Hill House in October 2021 from Hospital as a very frail 96-year-old man. The home has a lovely warm and welcoming atmosphere and my father quickly settled in. He has increased in weight and most importantly his anxiety levels have almost completely disappeared. The family are so pleased to have found Furze Hill House, it’s run like a family home. The Management and Care Team give such wonderful care, my father could not be anywhere better to spend the remaining time of his life.

Mum has now been a resident at Furze Hill for exactly 1 year, it was the hardest decision to make putting my mum into care, but I cannot express enough how wonderful all the staff have been for both my mum and myself. They show her so much love, respect and patience. I have witnessed so many heartwarming moments during my visits between staff and residents. It is a 10 out of 10 from me!
