Furze Hill House was opened in November 2007 as a purpose built Home for 40 older people. Most of the residents are from the local area and many continue to remain in touch with families, friends and the local community. It is located on the outskirts of the lovely and historic North Norfolk market town of North Walsham.

Furze Hill's mission is to provide care in a safe, secure and homely environment. The aim is to give quality care in a purpose built home, so that an individual’s physical, emotional and spiritual needs are met. Support is given to each resident whilst also encouraging their independence. Respecting individuals' privacy, wants and needs in an inclusive setting.

The ethos of the home is Christian and this is enhanced by having a Chaplain (ordained minister) as part of the team.

Special attention is paid to the needs of people living with dementia. Staff do all they can to help those living with dementia hold on to their cherished memories. Encouragement is given to residents to acquire new skills and interests as this will give a sense of purpose and quality of life, so as to maintain mental, physical and spiritual health and well being.

All the bedrooms are single and en-suite and have views of the gardens, the surrounding woods or across the open fields towards Happisburgh.

Outside, the home has pleasant gardens, patios, seating areas and an ‘all weather’ gazebo. There are some raised beds where residents can grow vegetables.

The Home employs an activities leader who compiles a programme of weekly activities. These include board games, puzzles, crafts, skittles, film shows, reminiscence, quizzes and gardening. Daily activities are posted on the Home’s notice board.

I've been so impressed by Furze Hill House in the few months since my mother moved there. The staff are simply wonderful. They're friendly, helpful and patient (even when getting demands from every direction!) and they always treat the residents with great kindness and respect. The management team have
been really supportive too. It's clear to see that my mum is being well looked after. The care home itself is always clean, bright and welcoming. There's also a very active programme of events and activities for the residents. Since I live far away, I particularly appreciate the social media updates - it's lovely to be able to get a taste of what's going on and gives me something extra to talk about when I visit.

My mother moved into Furze Hill last summer after breaking her hip and becoming wheelchair-bound to further add to her advancing Alzheimer's. The team were great in helping and advising us on getting things sorted as quickly as we could. The team are happy, friendly, kind and professional, creating
a positive and happy atmosphere in the home that is often missing. The social media page is very active and a wonderful way to check in on the many and varied activities and see my beloved mum. Most importantly, I think that the quality of care and management is very high. Both for my mum, but also care and consideration for my dad, as he adjusts and copes with living alone and my mum's condition. The only thing that I think could be improved is the food, it often looks frozen or out of a packet, portion sizes are often small and seconds are limited. My mum is inevitably declining as she has a terminal condition, but I wouldn't want her to be anywhere else. Thank you to all the team.

Since the resident arrived at Furze Hill in April 2023, she has been extremely well cared for. All the staff in every department are very professional and caring. They all seem to be working in a happy environment which filters down to making the residents feel comfortable and happy. The resident was
in a care home prior to Furze Hill where she became very depressed and lonely as little attention was paid to her. This changed immediately after she arrived at Furze Hill and she is now her happy mischievous self again. All the staff are very attentive and there is so much interaction between staff and residents it’s amazing. I think good management and staff are key at Furze Hill, nothing appears to be too much trouble. Cannot recommend it highly enough.

I find the carers at Furze Hill to be very good to the residents that live there.
The food is also good.
Seems a happy place to be, and something is going on for residents to do mornings and afternoons if they wish.

My mother has been in this care home since 2020. Her deterioration has been significant since. She is often left alone in her room as she refuses to get out of bed. I have asked many times for her to have a milky coffee and a banana for breakfast which she only gets occasionally. Pressure area care
is good, the home is clean and the facilities are good. Communication between myself and the managers is excellent. The home has lots of activities and is always warm. My mum always looks very smart.

A lovely care home in a peaceful setting surrounded by woodland and wildlife. Care staff and management are always kind and helpful. My husband has and is receiving the most caring and compassionate support in this home. The staff are like family now. Nothing is too much trouble for them. My mother has dementia and today I went in for a care plan review. It took me 20 minutes to read it! It covered everything about my mother and described her perfectly. It was fully up to date and tracked her situation as I had observed on my visits. On visiting my mum I found the lady cleaning the room
fully engaged in conversation with Mum. Even the cleaning staff acre. It's an outstanding home.

Mum has been a resident of Furze Hill for about twelve months. My dad had known about Furze Hill via friends and knew where he wanted Mum to go when the time came. I totally can see why. I live in Australia, but during my visits, I could not be happier with the level of care and the environment.
All
the staff are so friendly and caring. Mum always tells me how good the food is and she doesn't have to wash up! Mum is well cared for, has put on some weight and is kept nicely.
Highly recommend Furze Hill.

My mother did not want to go into a care home but we were given no choice. I am thankful she was offered a place in Furse Hill House as from day one mum received the best care. On day two when I visited she told me how kind and helpful everyone was and she felt pampered. It has now been fifteen months
and mum still tells me how papered she feels. The staff in every department are friendly, kind and helpful to all residents and any visitors. They are professional and very hardworking. I cannot praise them all highly enough.

This is a well-managed home. The staff are accommodating, very polite and caring. They treat each resident as an individual and tailor activities accordingly. They keep relatives informed and you always have a continuous named point of contact. My father is content and this is a direct result of the

My parents moved into Furze Hill almost a year ago during which time both their health and mobility deteriorated. The home has given me peace of mind keeping me in touch with what is happening, their care plans detail those little things that make the difference in life, and they are clean, comfortable
and well-fed. Furze Hill is keeping them cocooned in a safe, happy and fulfilled environment. There are lots going on, so much space and light, welcoming staff and Salvation Army services if residents, like my parents, wish to attend, but the religious element in no way detracts from the relaxed feel of the home. They love being there which is the most important thing for me.

My father moved to Furze Hill House in October 2021 from Hospital as a very frail 96-year-old man. The home has a lovely warm and welcoming atmosphere and my father quickly settled in. He has increased in weight and most importantly his anxiety levels have almost completely disappeared. The family are
so pleased to have found Furze Hill House, it’s run like a family home. The Management and Care Team give such wonderful care, my father could not be anywhere better to spend the remaining time of his life.

Mum has now been a resident at Furze Hill for exactly 1 year, it was the hardest decision to make putting my mum into care, but I cannot express enough how wonderful all the staff have been for both my mum and myself. Our close, family friend has been a resident of Furze Hill for 3 years. Since leaving her own home, where she was struggling to cope, she has taken on a new lease of life, and couldn't be happier. She is so well looked after in every respect - all the staff are so friendly, helpful, always smiling and
polite, very caring. The surroundings are modern and the facilities are excellent - outings and in-house entertainment are great. Food is great, with a good choice at every meal - an excellent 'hotel'!

Mum has been at Furze Hill for 10 months and the change in her has been remarkable. From wanting to stay in her room all day and waiting to die, she now joins in most of the activities and has an interest in life again.


I cannot praise the staff enough. Nothing is too much trouble and every Saints

Day/festival or what have you is celebrated with fancy dress, themed food, entertainment etc which I think the staff enjoy as much as the residents! All the staff are pleasant, caring and seem to enjoy their work. Management is very approachable and friendly.


The home is clean and well kept with no unpleasant smells. The rooms themselves are spacious and comfortable with a large en-suite shower room. Almost every day there is some sort of entertainment or activity and a programme is given to all the residents so they can plan their week ahead.


I am made to feel very welcome when I visit. The fresh flowers on the tables are a nice homely touch.
