My brother is content at Heathcote. He is full of praise for the caring staff, his large comfortable room and especially the food which he praises for the variety and the little touches like garnish on the meals, making it feel like a hotel, not an institution. There are enough activities for him as he is not very mobile but likes to keep his mind active. He particularly appreciates music and entertainers who sing "the old songs". We feel pleased that he is so well looked after. Thank you.

My mother has been very settled in Heathcote. The staff are kind and helpful, always providing privacy and sensitivity when assisting residents. There are always lots of activities and entertainers which I know my mother looks forward to. Her room is kept clean and washing and ironing always to a good standard.

We could not have found a more welcoming or caring home for my mother. Our original intention was for long term care but unfortunately, it quickly ended up as palliative care, but in the time my mother was at the home she was cared for so well and it was clear that the staff cared greatly about the wellbeing of all the residents.

What struck us on our first visit was that it had the feel of a real home from home maybe because it has a relatively small number of residents compared to bigger homes. The other residents were all friendly and happy to talk and the food always looked appetising and nutritional, I know my mother enjoyed the food she had. Activities are slightly more difficult to comment on as my mother was bedridden so could not get involved with everything that went on but she was included as much as possible.

My mother has made a home from home in her room at The Heathcote. She has brought some of her books, paintings, bedspread and cushions. This helped her settle in and adjust to her new surroundings.

She has been very happy here and is very fond of the carers.

I have been so impressed by the incredibly warm welcome given to both of my parents and to myself since they have moved into Heathcote House. Leaving your own home is not easy but the lovely staff have done everything possible to help Mum and Dad settle. They have taken time to get to know them, to talk to them and take them on outings. The home itself is beautiful, more like a hotel for the elderly!

I cannot recommend it too highly.

Mum was admitted to Heathcote earlier in the year following a spell in hospital and was unable to go home. After a few months, mum's situation got worse and end of life care was required. The staff stepped up and were all really kind, considerate and protective of mum in her final weeks. They really are the people you would want to look after somebody when they needed it most.

I have been living at Heathcote since December 2017. Staff work well as a team. The home is kept beautifully. Staff are respectful with our wishes. Food is first class with lots of choices. Entertainment and activities are marvellous. Management are first class too and assist me with any queries I have. They always knock on my door.

My husband was recently in Heathcote for a two-week respite care. The standard was very high and I found everybody there very caring and helpful. I would certainly recommend this service to anyone and my husband said his stay was very pleasant.

The only drawback was the constant noise of the room buzzers going off. Whilst I appreciate these are necessary, it might be better if an alternative method could be found.

My father required urgent respite care following brief hospital admission. Heathcote care home brilliant - lovely spacious room and care staff brilliant. They made my Dad feel safe and allowed time for him to recover. Excellent food, nice to see him put on weight.

On discharge from hospital, my mother quickly settled in thanks mainly to the help and assistance from the staff and management at Heathcote.

I was extremely impressed by how the care home arranged for a dentist to see my mother and treat her at the home. The facilities i.e. hairdresser, etc. and activities seem excellent.

Heathside has provided my mother with a comfortable, safe and caring home for 3 years but the staff team have shown exceptional care during her period of illness following another stroke. The kindness and support they have provided and their evident affection for my mum have made a difficult time for us all as nice as it could possibly be.

We are very grateful as I know mum is too.

Mum-in-law joined Heathcote in her nineties after suffering strokes and a fractured femur. She also has macular degeneration with very poor sight, she has been happy here and her quality of life, I believe, is the best it can be under her circumstances. I have been visiting a couple of times a week for the last year and I honestly cannot fault this home, the manager and the staff. The care and support the manager and staff give is first class. From supporting her level of independence when mum first arrived, to the total nursing care when she has been very poorly as she is at the moment, it has been exemplary. Communication from the staff is exceptional and I think this and all other aspects of its high standards is down to the manager. Also, I have never heard cross words used to the residents.

I read the care quality commission report and it was really good but when you are seeking a care home for your mother you are, inevitably, anxious as to whether the reality matches this accolade. It did in every way.

We visited a number of care homes but within 5 minutes of showing us around, my sister and I knew it was right for our mother. The staff accommodated her efficiently and expediently and for the next year, cared for her in the way you would want as a relative.

The staff were very friendly and caring and reflected the ethos of Heathcote. The stability of the staff team, was a real bonus. They attended to her in her declining health and dealt professionally in the matters associated with her death. I will be recommending Heathcote to friends and family.

I first visited a friend's uncle who was a resident in Heathcote House over a year go. I was very impressed. I have worked in care over 30 years. 11 years as a Matron, so when I was approached by the son of a family friend for recommendations where to place his mother, I had no hesitation in recommending Heathcote House. I have been visiting again today and found it to be spotlessly clean, no smells (unpleasant ones). Residents all look happy, nicely dressed. Staff interact all the time with the residents, despite being busy they always have time for residents and visitors. Food looks delicious, surroundings are homely, warm and inviting.

I only get to visit my aunt every 6 months because of the distance, however each visit fills me with delight as I can see how happy and content my Aunt is. She is so well cared for and the staff are all so kind. Nothing is too much trouble for them. She always tells me about all of the activities that take place and the arts and crafts and flower arranging, they even have a Zumba class! Which I'm told all of the residents love.

The manager always offers me lunch when I visit and tea and coffee are always available. When I leave I feel so comfortable that my aunt is safe, and exceptionally well looked after.

Sylvia AmesJob Title:Registered Manager
Sylvia Ames started as a night carer in a nursing home to fit around family life. Since then she has worked as a night carer, senior care worker, deputy manager and then registered manager.
One of her fondest memories at Heathcote is being able to reunite our resident Margaret Dye with her beloved boat Wanderer which she sailed the world in with her husband Frank. The boat now resides in Falmouth Maritime Museum and Sylvia arranged for a virtual tour with the museum's curator.
Margaret was then featured in Sailing Today and recognised around the world for the sailing legend she is.

Sylvie says what makes Heathcote special is the intimate environment and genuine family atmosphere within the home, with strong bonds between staff and residents.
