I attend laurel lodge and talk to the resident's and keep them company as i am also lonely, i became a friend of a resident that sadly passed on but i visit the home regularly. The Home is always nicely presented and exceptionally clean. The team are very hospitable and friendly.
Thank you for your kind words about Laurel Lodge and your positive feelings about the team at the home.
My mother has been at Laurel Lodge for a little over a year. She was slow to settle initially but now seems perfectly content. Laurel Lodge is a comfortable home with friendly, cheerful and caring staff (who were particularly supportive to Mum following my father's death in early January).
All the staff seem happy in their working environment and there is a good team spirit. You feel welcome when you visit. The home generally and Mum's room in particular is always clean and tidy. Her clothes are always well laundered and she enjoys the food.
Mum enjoys most of the activities available and staff work hard to stimulate the residents. Staff also make a point of celebrating special days including Valentine's Day, Mother's Day and St Patrick's Day as well as doing their best to make occasions like Easter and Christmas special for the residents.
It is very reassuring to know that Mum is safe and being well looked after.
Thank you for this lovely review of the care your mum is receiving at Laurel Lodge. So many lovely compliments, which we will pass on to the staff.
I find the atmosphere in Laurel Lodge very homely. The staff embrace creative individual approaches to the home. These involve lots of dressing up, laughter, fun, compassion. I like informal approaches. Activities are great. The friendship among the staff team is contagious and a healthy sign of a good working environment.
Thank you for your fabulous comments about the care and support provided at Laurel Lodge.
Seems that mother-in-law loves living at Laurel Lodge. I like the fact that the importance is placed on the atmosphere, friendliness. Family atmopshere rather than shiny stuff, posh carpets etc.
Thanks for your kind words about the atmosphere and friendliness of the team at Laurel Lodge.
All staff have been consistently very caring and highly professional. Staff retention must be excellent as we see familiar friendly faces every time we visit. We are always made welcome and listened too.
Mum is clearly very well cared for and her health has stabilised over the time she has been at Laurel Lodge.
Thank you for your kind comments about the care and support your mum is receiving at Laurel Lodge.
Laurel Lodge is a lovely place to be. Very homely with friendly and caring staff who take the time to get to know mum, understand her needs and tailor her care accordingly. There are always activities on offer...mum's favourite being the guinea pigs.
Thank you for your incredibly kind comments about the care and support provided to your mum at Laurel Lodge. We're glad she likes the guinea pigs - so do we!
Mum has a lovely room opening on to the garden. Her room is kept clean and tidy at all times. She also enjoys a lot of interaction with her care givers, not only when necessary but also when they have a moment to just sit and chat with her.
Laurel Lodge provides entertainment on a daily basis and also periodic special events for all residents and their families to enjoy.
Cannot recommend Laurel Lodge highly enough.
Thank you for your incredible comments about the care and support your mum is receiving at Laurel Lodge - we're so pleased that you are happy with the care we provide. We will pass your comments on to the team at the home.
My mother has dementia but is still very bright & chatty & was not receptive to going into care, but had to after my father's death. It was a very difficult time. The staff at Laurel Lodge have been outstanding. They have helped her (and me) to settle in, and nothing is too much trouble. They are always cheerful and friendly, and now I feel that Mum has settled well. The home is clean and bright with a lovely atmosphere. I can rest now with the knowledge that Mum is safe and well cared for, and I enjoy visiting her there. Thank you so much.
thanks for your really kind words about the care and support your mother is receiving at Laurel Lodge. We're pleased that she's settled well and that you feel you've made a good choice of home for her.
The home is clean and tidy and the staff are very knowledgeable with manual handling.
Her spacious, warm room was upstairs, fully equipped with an en-suite and television. As a family we knew she was safe, should her wonder lust emerge.
We had previously used the provision before. For our aunt, her sister. She too was very happy here.
Alas, Mum has just passed. The staff are super supportive and we cannot thank each and every one of them enough for the kindness and care given.
Each time I have visited, the public areas are spotless, Mum's room is always clean and tidy, her clothes beautifully laundered and Mum herself, clean and tidy, and the staff have time to do her hair and make up for her.
No one wants their loved one to have to go into care, but if you have to, then I hope you will find a place with staff as kind and helpful as they are here.
Welcomed at the front door by a friendly staff member. I was offered a drink while I was visiting. I was made to feel welcomed and was treated with respect by every staff member I came into contact with. Nothing seemed too much. My friend seemed really settled and happy to be here.
We really appreciate you taking the time to review our home. I will make sure your kind words are passed on to the staff and management team at Laurel Lodge.
The overall care within the home is excellent. The staff are kind, respectful and mostly efficient. However, some staff lack watching for detail and supervision in that area needs improving. Overall though I feel my mother is safe and cared for. The food is also extremely good and the catering staff are kind and very professional.
What amazing staff, always so lovely and friendly.
I came to Laurel Lodge on the 20th of June 2023 and found the staff both friendly and welcoming. I am here as a temporary resident giving my husband the chance to recover after having a mild stroke. Luckily, my family are close by, allowing them to visit me on a regular basis. I have found the atmosphere of Laurel Lodge to be a happy one.
Although the home in general is a clean welcoming place, the staff are friendly and helpful. I feel the garden area to the right-hand side of the Laurel Lodge could do with a tidy-up, so it cheers up the residents who look out to overgrown areas. I took plants and bulbs but too many weeds etc to plant new things. I realize with the dry weather it is difficult to dig but maybe it is with a thought for the future.
My nan is very happy at Laurel Lodge. The staff are generally lovely on the whole and look after her very well. She doesn't like being offered showers by male members of staff. Some staff she can't hear very well. Her room is fine, and the layout is slightly poor with the TV to the side of her. Difficult to watch in bed. Her room could do with a clean more often. The activities are age appropriate and she tries to join in. Generally, a great place for nan to be. I personally do not like her room, other rooms have patio doors onto the gardens but she has no real view and when she stays in bed she is staring at a wardrobe and a toilet door.
Everyone at Laurel Lodge has given my mother good care. She has been very poorly and was bedridden for two years. the exceptional staff have supported my mum into a moving recliner/chair over the last few weeks and now she can join in with everybody in the lounge. This has transferred her quality of life and my sisters and I cannot thank everybody enough for going the extra mile.
Thanks for your kind review, I know the staff are passionate about the quality of life of all residents in our care. I will ensure this is passed onto both management and staff.
Laurel Lodge is a credit to the Black Swan Care Group and as a business, you should be proud of this team.
I would 100% recommend Laurel Lodge.
It was mum's birthday this month and I'd ranged for a few of her friends to come and take tea. Nothing was too much trouble for the care home, they arrange for us to have a little party in the family room, they set up balloons a table with a tablecloth, plates, tea and coffee essentially everything we needed for a lovely afternoon with friends. It made Mum's Day I'm all of her friends left saying how wonderful and kind the care home were. They even arranged for mum to have her own special cake and say Happy birthday too. The staff at Laurel Lodge always go above and beyond on a daily basis and I can't thank them enough for their time and care in looking after Mum. If you're thinking of your loved one going into care I would 100% recommend Laurel Lodge.

Emily cared for them until her grandfather entered a residential care home, and provided end-of-life care to her grandmother until she passed away in her own home.
This personal experience ignited a passion in Emily and prompted her to consider a career in care. Emily told us: "I couldn't imagine not working in care, every day I walk through the door at Laurel Lodge is like going home, it's my happy place"
