St Leonards Court is designed for the special needs of elderly people with dementia. Their rooms are tastefully decorated and provide residents with a quality environment for enjoyment of life in later years. Although all rooms are fully furnished, they encourage residents to bring with them items of furniture and personal possessions so that their room can be a true home from home.

St Leonards Court is situated in the pleasant village of Mundford on the edge of Thetford forest. Within easy reach are the local post office, village store and pub whilst residents can enjoy interaction with the local community through the comfort of the main lounge which overlooks the village green. They also have the benefit of the safe enclosed haven of a sensory garden.

Care staff are trained to the highest standards, using an internal training programme, and chosen not only for their skills but also for their warmth, friendliness and caring attitude. They are on hand around the clock to provide professional care that respects the rights and dignity of the individual. The emphasis placed on high quality staff was recently rewarded when the company received ‘Investor in People’ accreditation.

Professionals regularly assess each resident so that they can be sure their needs are met and supply specialized equipment if required. An optician, dentist, and chiropodist visit by appointment, and the in-house hairdressing salon provides all the usual services plus manicures and hand massages. The catering staff provides delicious meals and snacks throughout the day, as well as special dishes for those with particular dietary requirements.

My father-in-law has been at St Leonards since February 2020. He has settled in very well with the help and understanding of all the lovely team at the home. The team at St Leonards have made all attempts to allow us to see him in these strange times even shouting through the window! But it makes us
all laugh and makes a big difference to see him happy. A big thank you to all the caring staff and the carer who doesn't like fruit cake!
Reply from Shelley Jarred, Manager at St Leonards CourtI'm so pleased that your father-in-law has settled, he's such a character! Seeing your loved ones in the safest way is our top priority and has made so many memorable moments, as long as all our residents and families are happy, we are too. Thank you so much for kind words.

My Grandad has been at the home for over 10-months now and has been treated with the greatest care. Things have been getting harder for him, at a time where everyone's families are divided, it is greatly appreciated that all the staff looks after him as if he was part of their family. I would like to
express my thanks to each and everyone for their hard work and never-ending care they provide to those who we love so dearly at a time when we are apart. Knowing he's looked after by people who go above and beyond each day, thank you, just doesn't seem enough. Please keep up the good work; you're all fantastic.
Reply from Shelley Jarred, Manager at St Leonards CourtThank you so much for your kind words, your grandad is a pleasure to look after he has a special place in our hearts as all our beloved residents do. My dad joined St Leonards during the lockdown in July, which was very difficult for the family. However, the wonderful staff have made him feel so welcome as well as being there with a comforting ear at the end of the phone for us. They always reassure me that dad is happy and enjoying his newfound
family and embracing his new life. He is especially enjoying the wonderful home-cooked meals with extra helpings. Good to know he is eating well.
The garden visits have worked well, weather permitting. However, we were so grateful for a special visit on his birthday, thank you. Just a shame we were unable to join in with his party and cake! Also, yesterday, a visit at the window, before lockdown. To see his little face, smiling and happy was priceless.
The care and compassion he receives are so much appreciated, and I am so very grateful to you all for taking such good care of my dear dad. Thanks to each and every one of you especially during such worrying and challenging times. Stay safe!
Reply from Shelley Jarred, Manager at St Leonards CourtYour dad is an absolute joy to look after. We are so pleased he has settled in well, he loves the food and really enjoys the company of all the other residents, his smile certainly lights up the room, again our pleasure to look after your dad.

My mother entered the home in September for respite care. The staff were very welcoming to my mother and although she was isolated for 2 weeks because of covid 19 she was visited and amused by the staff during that time. I did manage to visit her on a few occasions before visiting was stopped and she
was happy and comfortable and really liked her room. She was assessed as needing full-time care and the manager and all the staff have been very supportive both to my mother and to myself for which I thank them sincerely.
I talk to her a few times a week and she is happy and cared for and is glad that she can stay forever as she really likes her room and the home. Whenever I phone to speak to her whoever answers the phone is always happy and upbeat and pleased to help. Nothing seems to be beyond their capabilities if they can do almost anything!
The newsletters are informative and they do respect and show compassion and care and are committed to the care of our loved ones.

My father has been at the home for 9 months now and is treated with great care and dignity from day one. As things are getting harder for him they are helping out more with his day to day care and looking after him as if he was part of their family. We would like to thank each and everyone for their
help and never-ending care they provide. During the lockdown caused by the pandemic, the staff have kept me informed about his well being and any problems that he may be having and will always give him a cuddle from us. Thank you just doesn't seem enough.

In the twelve months that my aunt and uncle have been in St Leonards Court, I have always been in awe of the compassion, care and professionalism of all the staff I have met. On entering the home it is evident that the staff take great pride in their work and surroundings. All their time is spent engaging
with the residents and visitors. Even in these challenging times, my wife and I are kept up to date of the daily happenings. My aunt and uncle have always been independent and demanding individuals, so the way they have seamlessly adapted to their new environment is a testament to everyone involved. Thank you all for making what could have been an awkward situation a pleasurable experience.

This review is based with Covid-19 restrictions still in place regarding visiting my wife for half an hour in the garden weather allowing, so my assessment is based on how the home has kept us informed as we were not able to visit for three months. All the staff deserve my heartfelt thanks for the above
and beyond care to residents and their families during this awful Covid-19 Pandemic.

The managers head up an establishment which cares about (as well as cares for) its residents. My sister and her husband can spend their declining years together in a home where they receive excellent, loving care. The staff, without exception, are fantastic (I wish that I had a fraction of their patience!)

Staff are genuinely caring and efficient. The care staff make a care home, and I have been acquainted with several. This home is the very best I have encountered. I am so grateful my father was able to come here for the final months of his life. The staff were enormously kind and considerate to me as
well, and to my Mum and myself at the end of Dad's life despite current difficulties. Thank you all so much for your care.

Myself and my sons have been so appreciative of the care and attention you (Manager) and the staff have shown Dad. You have allowed him calmness and peace within his new world, with the increased dementia he has had of late. My sons mentioned after our visit for Sunday lunch with their Grandad, how
they were so impressed how the "air" of the Home was so calm, in view of the significant ill health some of your "friends" live with. And when a "friend" required personal care attention suddenly, it was all completed without any ounce of fuss, just with total quiet kindness, and compassion. We look forward to my Dad, our Grandad, spending more respite time at St Leonards, hopefully in the very near future. A big thank you to you all.

When I went to see my aunt, I was impressed with the whole place, staff were lovely, nothing was too much trouble. The care was excellent. I wish there were more places like this one, staff very friendly. I am glad my aunt got into this care home as she wouldn't be here today if she was left in the
other care home. 10/10 service.

Within a week of my dad's arrival here, the improvement in him was unbelievable after very poor care elsewhere. He isn’t just a resident in a home, he’s treated like it is his home.
Carers give a very high level of care, interaction and are focused on the wellbeing of all resident. As a daughter couldn’t
ask for better am so pleased he will spend his twilight years here.

This care home provides quality care, quality accommodation, quality staff and quality food. From the minute I first visited the care home I felt the residents were cared for, kept safe, kept clean and each resident is treated with dignity, respect and as an individual. All the residents' needs are

Current Review Score: 9.1 (9.124)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.1 (9.124) out of 10 for St Leonards Court is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.5 out of 5 from 7 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.6 out of 5 from 7 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.524 for St Leonards Court is calculated as follows: ( (50 Excellents x 5) + (28 Goods x 4) + (6 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 84 Ratings = 4.524
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 4.6 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for St Leonards Court is based on 7 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 = 3.6
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 25 registered maximum number of service users is 5, which has been reached with 7 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
