The Moorings

Church Road, Earsham, Bungay NR35 2TJ

The Moorings team understand that making a decision for your loved one is a difficult task especially when Residential Care sometimes receives adverse publicity. The Moorings is owned and managed by a local family who live in South Norfolk. They pride themselves on always looking to improve the service they offer and making sure the Resident comes first in whatever they do. The family is involved on a daily basis with each home supporting the Managers to ensure an ‘excellent’ service is maintained to all Residents.

The Moorings is situated overlooking the beautiful Waveney valley surrounded by beautiful gardens close to the market town of Bungay and is a home for elderly people with dementia.

Cygnet Care are proud of the homes they offer, careful to make sure they feel like a home rather than a hotel, using good quality furnishings and making sure they are well maintained inside and out.

Danielle, the long standing manager, is supported by a well trained team of staff who proudly deliver person centred care, daily activities, and lovely traditional home cooked food.

The Moorings provides both long and short term care

Overview

The Review Score of 8.4 (maximum of 10) for The Moorings is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  • a) The Average Rating is 4.6 out of 5 from 7 Reviews over all time. This Average Rating is also the rating value for The Moorings in Google's Search Results - more info

  • b) The score for the number of positive Reviews is 3.8 out of 5 from 3 positive Reviews in the last 12 months.

Detailed Breakdown

  • a) 5 Points are available for the Average Rating of all Reviews over all time. For each review the Care Home / service is rated Excellent, Good, Satisfactory, Poor or Very Poor on a number of areas eg Staff, Management etc. The Care Home receives points for each rating as follows: Excellent = 5. Good = 4. Satisfactory = 3. Poor = 2. Very Poor = 1. These points are added up and then divided by the total number of completed ratings to generate the average rating.

    The Average Rating of 4.583 for The Moorings is calculated as follows: ( (50 Excellents x 5) + (33 Goods x 4) + (1 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 84 Ratings = 4.583

  • b) 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 12 months. If there are no Positive Reviews in the last 12 months, then 2.5 points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 2 years. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with 'Extremely Likely' or 'Likely' in answer to the question 'How likely are you to recommend this Care Home to friends and family if they needed similar care or treatment?'

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 5 Positive Reviews, 3 points for the first Positive Review and then 0.25 Points for each of the next 4 Positive Reviews.

    2. 1 point is available for reaching a target number of Positive Reviews based on 20% of the number of registered maximum number of service users. If the target is partially reached then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home with 50 registered maximum number of service users has a target of 10 Positive Reviews, if it has 10 or more Positive Reviews it will receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews will receive 0.7 points.

    3. If there are no Positive Reviews in the last 12 months, then 2.5 points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 2 years. The calculation is the same as above, except the points are divided by 2.

The 3.783 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for The Moorings is based on 3 positive Reviews in the last 12 months and is calculated as follows:

    1. 3 + 0.25 + 0.25 = 3.5

    2. Target of 10.6 positive Reviews (53 registered maximum number of service users ÷ 5). 3 Reviews ÷ 10.6 Target = 0.283

  • When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.

8.4 The Moorings has a Review Score of 8.4 (8.366) from 7 Reviews

My mother has been living at The Moorings, Earsham for six months. She seems to have settled very well and says that she is happy. She has nothing but praise for the staff. She is enjoying her food and replacing the weight she lost while at home. It is a huge relief to myself and my two brothers that she is, at last, receiving the care that she needs and deserves. Thank you.

My review of this home is that it is run with efficiency and care towards their residents, but not only the residents, but the relatives who need support as well. The home is welcoming and residents always seem happy and well cared for.

Management are always professional and have excellent training.

Care staff are pleasant and well mannered.

My mother has been in The Moorings for just over two years and in all that time has had very comprehensive care from all the staff, with a few of them forming particularly close relationships. The building itself has been undergoing a major refurbishment and extension to the facilities which has made the work load difficult and stressful for staff, but they have never wavered in their dedication to their charges.

My Mum has been at The Moorings for nearly three years. The first year was very difficult but the staff and management were amazing and worked very hard and compassionately to help us all through a bad time. The home has recently been extended and refurbished and is a lovely place for our Mum to live. I cannot praise the staff enough, especially as Mum considers it to be her home most of the time, with "very nice people" there.

Mum has been happily living at The moorings for over 7 years, consequently that makes me very happy. There's a really friendly family atmosphere there which is lovely for the residents and family alike!! The recent extension to The Moorings is really well thought out and with beautiful furnishings etc. They've thought of everything. The staff are extremely kind, thoughtful, and respectful of each individuals needs. They are a very good team.
