Dorrington House Wells is one of three facilities owned by the care provider that specialises in modern care methods for older people and those living with dementia. Social services rates, self funders same rates, also self funders may apply for continuing care NHS funding.

The home is registered with the Care Quality Commission (CQC) and seeks to adhere to the highest standards of health, safety and hygiene, as well as encouraging independent choice and lifestyles among its residents. The home enjoys a "Good Rating" PAMMS with the Norfolk County Council (July 2021).

Wells Home is in walking distance of local amenities, whilst offering large garden areas for residents to relax in and good parking for visitors. The home offers a spacious main lounge/dining room as well as a bar area for residents to enjoy. Entertainment is also provided as well as fundraising events for 'Friends of the Home'. There are flat screen televisions for residents in all the lounges, good Wi-Fi coverage, video visits and online care plans. A wide selection of traditional and soft meals are offered.

During the past few years, I have found Dorrington House to be more than adequate to provide for my father's needs. Extra care staff joining the team last year have elevated any issues there may have been due to staff shortage. The chef and his team provide a varied menu with birthday cakes on special
occasions. The activities team are excellent. The home always looks bright and cheerful due to their efforts. Regular contact when needs arose from team leaders/management is much appreciated. I do feel my father is in a very safe and caring place. Thank you.

I think Dorrington House is a good place for my aunt to be. She is well looked after and loved by the staff and loves them back. When I come to visit here with my dog, we are made very welcome. My aunt loves the activities, and I think it's amazing that there's something on every day.

I am very pleased with the cleanliness and always smells fresh.
The hygiene is excellent. Dad's bedroom is always cleaned daily.
Also, the staff are always welcoming and very caring, also the office staff are welcoming.

On entering Dorrington House it always smells clean and fresh.
The care and support that Dad gets is excellent.

It gives me great pleasure to complete a review for Dorrington House. After personally caring for Dad at home for the last 6 years I had always promised him he would not go into a care home, however, circumstances with his health changed that. Dad has taken a couple of months to settle but is now at
home in Dorrington. The care he receives there is first class, the staff's caring knowledge is first class. They listen to our concerns, treat each resident empathetically and with dignity and will bend over backwards to help you. Nothing is too much trouble for the staff. This is a very efficient, understanding, professional care home that treats both residents and their relatives as if they were their own relatives. I cannot recommend the home and staff highly enough.

Since moving my mother into Dorrington House due to early onset of Dementia, my mother was used to walking out of her previous care home x2 most days, as she was able, until she started having falls.
It was a huge and heart rendering decision to have to move her. I live in Wells so needed her safe,
happy and close to me.
Dorrington House manages her very well, she is happy and does like and trust the staff, I like to bath her as she will refuse!

I was extremely satisfied with the care and attention my brother received. The staff were kind, courteous and very helpful. The standard of hygiene was high and the en-suite cleaned daily.
I could visit or take my brother out for the day whenever I wanted to and at all times, I felt comfortable with

On behalf of my family, I would like to thank all the staff for the care given to our dad since he moved in following the death of our mum. The phone calls keeping us informed and updates on dads care is appreciated. Also, a big thanks you to the lady in the office for the photos, it is nice to know
that dad is joining in with the activities that are regularly put on for the residents. Once again, thank you to the manager and the team.

My father spent nearly 6 years in this home and for all that time I was very happy with his care. In the beginning, he was a walker and provisions were made for him to still be able to go out on his own as in his words "he didn't want to be walked like a dog". Later when he was bed bound he was treated
with care and his dignity was kept.

When I visit my wife as I do twice a week I have always found her calm and never distressed. When I am there, the staff always treat my wife and myself with respect and are helpful, although they are not always easy to find. My wife never complains about the hygiene or medical treatment she has to have.
When we visit she often has problems with her hearing aids, caused by dead batteries or sometimes lack of batteries. Lack of ventilation is also a problem at times but on the whole, I am satisfied with my wife's treatment. I have no experience with which to make a comparison.

Always helpful. Emails are answered straight away. I feel that there is a good routine going. Food looks and smells appetising. I feed my husband at lunch time or tea time when I can and he eats everything. He can still feed himself finger food.

My sister has been a resident at Dorrington House (Wells) for just over three years. The standard of care is very good/excellent. The staff cannot do enough for her and us when we visit. I live 200 miles away and the rest of our family in London. They provide us with excellent information by phone if
she is unwell some of the carers go above and beyond their role in giving her not only care but affection as well overall Dorrington House is well run and one of the cleanest care homes I have visited!

One of the first things you notice is the freshness of the air in the building - no cooking or musty smells, a plus sign for me right from the start. A well-designed building, nice rooms, staff excellent, the lady at reception is delightful and most welcoming. The staff seem so kind to my sister - I
don't think we could have picked a better home for our 90-year-old sister.

My mother has been at Dorrington House for just over 3 years. She is now not able to walk or say anything but a few words. She has a very good relationship with her carers and is dearly well looked after. The friendliness of the staff is very clear and I am welcome at any time, during the week and the
weekend.

I live an almost two hour drive from the home, so communication by email is essential to keep in touch with what my father is doing. I regularly receive photo's and updates in this way. Contact by phone is used to inform me of illness or care issues. I cannot praise the nursing team and admin enough.
Dad seems to be encouraged to join in events and these are regular and varied. He now has little recall of what he has been doing, so this contact is very useful. He always seems content with his meals. I do sometimes wonder if he needs to be reminded to change clothing.

My mother seems well cared for and content. She can no longer walk or use her legs so she needs constant attention- especially when she is uncomfortable and needs moving within her armchair. She is 97. Medical attention is quickly available. Staff appear efficient and pleasant. Food is definitely adequate
and mother's special requirements are dealt with. My siblings and I are pleased with the home.

Steve and Lorraine Dorrington have collectively been involved in care since 1979. Our three homes are all purpose built so they are easy to get around for the less able. Dereham was registered in(1989). The other two homes are at Watton and Wells-next-the-Sea.
