Reviews

9.3 Oaklands has a Review Score of 9.3 (9.336)

The Review Score of 9.3 (maximum of 10) for Oaklands is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  • a) The Average Rating is 4.6 out of 5 from 10 Reviews over all time. This Average Rating is also the rating value for Oaklands in Google's Search Results - more info

  • b) The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.8 out of 5 from 8 positive Reviews in the last 12 months.

  • a) 5 Points are available for the Average Rating of all Reviews over all time. For each review the Care Home / service is rated Excellent, Good, Satisfactory, Poor or Very Poor on a number of areas eg Staff, Management etc. The Care Home receives points for each rating as follows: Excellent = 5. Good = 4. Satisfactory = 3. Poor = 2. Very Poor = 1. These points are added up and then divided by the total number of completed ratings to generate the average rating.

    The Average Rating of 4.581 for Oaklands is calculated as follows: ( (79 Excellents x 5) + (29 Goods x 4) + (8 Satisfactorys x 3) + (1 Very Poors x 1) ) ÷ 117 Ratings = 4.581

  • b) 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 12 months. If there are no Positive Reviews in the last 12 months, then 2.5 points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 2 years. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with 'Extremely Likely' or 'Likely' in answer to the question 'How likely are you to recommend this Care Home to friends and family if they needed similar care or treatment?'

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 5 Positive Reviews, 3 points for the first Positive Review and then 0.25 Points for each of the next 4 Positive Reviews.

    2. 1 point is available for reaching a target number of Positive Reviews based on 20% of the number of registered maximum number of service users. If the target is partially reached then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home with 50 registered maximum number of service users has a target of 10 Positive Reviews, if it has 10 or more Positive Reviews it will receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews will receive 0.7 points.

    3. If there are no Positive Reviews in the last 12 months, then 2.5 points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 2 years. The calculation is the same as above, except the points are divided by 2.

The 4.755 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Oaklands is based on 8 positive Reviews in the last 12 months and is calculated as follows:

    1. 3 + 0.25 + 0.25 + 0.25 + 0.25 = 4

    2. Target of 10.6 positive Reviews (53 registered maximum number of service users ÷ 5). 8 Reviews ÷ 10.6 Target = 0.755

  • When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.

Dad is 91 years old and has Vascular Dementia. Our experience has been good. Dad needs intensive care which means a lot of assurance, contact, reminding and love.
All of what I have seen at Oaklands from the carers is very good.

Dad's lunch on March 19th was well presented and very tasty.
His birthday cake party was very nicely done.
The staff were very kind, patient and attentive as always.
He looked very well cared for in clean clothes, well groomed and was much more alert and communicative.
Very pleased that he has access to writing and colouring materials.
The ground floor was very clean and tidy and well decorated.
Dad's bedroom was immaculate, so tidy and clean, and his room has such a nice view of the grounds.
His new reading glasses have worked out very well and it was so good to hear him read out loud the birthday card wishes.
It was a difficult decision to put Dad in a care home but our family is so pleased how well he has settled in and the excellent care provided at the Oaklands.

My mother needed emergency respite care on two separate occasions due to my dad being hospitalised due to poor health. My mother stayed at Oaklands for two weeks in total on two separate occasions. The staff were really friendly and welcoming to my mother and our family, the staff provided excellent care. The staff made mum feel better and cheered her up when she was missing my dad, she was made to feel like part of a big family.

I am happy to have my mother in Oaklands Care Home. If there is anything wrong they have her checked by the doctor and inform me what is happening. It is a home for all needs and can be upsetting to hear patients shouting out loud, but they are all treated with same compassion. Mother is looked after safe and not alone. What more can you want.

I find Oaklands care home to be a friendly, caring and compassionate place. Staff are all good with residents, treating them with respect and dignity at all times. For mum, it has been a blessing and for myself, a relief to know that she is so well cared for, safe and as happy as she can be in the circumstances.

I would like to write about how good the Oaklands is. My father lived there from May 2015 - September 2016. He loved it there. I spent time at Oaklands when my father became ill and the staff were brilliant to my mother and I. They were so caring about my father. It gave my family a great comfort to know they cared for all the residents. The staff are friendly and always happy and yet very professional at all times. I will miss visiting Oaklands. It has a great atmosphere. I love the decor too. Top marks 100%

My husband passed away on Friday 30th September 2016 at Oaklands. The care and love my husband received was second to none. The staff also cared for me and my family. Nothing was too much for them. My husband loved all the staff and was always happy and smiling.
