An excellent care home, clean and tidy. The staff and management are great and really care. The rooms are very nice, along with the lounges. The food is of a very good standard. I would highly recommend Oaklands care home to anyone looking for residential care.

My mother had multiple problems in the last six months of her life, including vascular dementia and mobility problems, which meant her husband was unable to give her the care she needed, and the rest of the family live too far away to give continuing help. I was very relieved and grateful to find Oaklands and cannot fault their care for her. It was close enough to her home for her husband to visit daily, together with their beloved dog, which was very important. Very caring staff who my mother loved, even though her condition meant her emotions were erratic a lot of the time. Beautiful building, room and grounds, and very good food. Appeared to be very kept very clean and tidy on the occasions I managed to visit. It gave us peace of mind that she was well cared for at a very difficult time of our lives. I know her husband was very happy with her care too, and he is not the easiest man to please! Thank you so much!

Mum has settled in really well, thanks to the lovely staff. Always activities in the sitting room.

Staff always answer our questions (no matter how silly).

Staff appear to show kindness and consideration to all patients when we visit, respect too.

Oaklands is flexible with visiting times as this is sometimes difficult when we work full time. Always available on the telephone and we are kept well informed of any developments. Thank you.

Mum has now been here at Oaklands since March 2021, she is well cared for and all her needs met. I know that she wouldn’t be happier anywhere else, or treated as well (from previous experience). My husband and I are always treated with respect and they are happy for us to visit her. Any questions I have I only have to ask. Would highly recommend.

I visited Oaklands regularly and frequently (when allowed) over 13 months and have nothing but praise for the way the residents are cared for. As a previous inspector of care homes, I am very critical and whilst nowhere is perfect all the time, Oaklands comes the closest I have seen. Teamwork is really excellent at every level, from effective management down to a very compassionate care team.

I have nothing but praise and respect for ALL the staff at Oaklands, everyone who looked after my mother during her time at Oaklands and during her passage over the rainbow was, courteous, very caring, professional, respectful, friendly and went the extra mile to make sure that everything was done just right. The support that I and my family received was just amazing, comforting and warm, nothing was to much trouble. My father is in a place where we feel really happy with his care, well being and attention. He receives excellent care from the most caring of staff.

My mother was resident in Okalnds for respite for a number of weeks. She has critical dementia. I felt that she was safe there and the staff were very competent. The reasons for moving her to another home was due to the fact that it is run by a former neighbour. All her friends in her old village are living close by. My mother would benefit from having her friends and relatives visiting her.

The staff at Oaklands seem respectful and caring. The atmosphere is usually calm and cheerful when I visit my mum. The management seems to be trying to improve things at the home, although a lot of changes recently have slowed this down.

It has been disappointing that none of the Activities Coordinators have been retained by Oaklands.

Staff member's profile info: I started my career in health and social care 20 years ago, in a small Nursing home that was then bought out by Kingsley Healthcare. I worked for Kingsley Healthcare in different settings until 2018, where I wished to progress in my role and started my journey in care home management. I am very happy to have rejoined the Kingsley team last year as deputy manager at Oaklands. I have experience in nursing, dementia, and complex care, and I enjoy sharing my gained skills and knowledge with the team at Oaklands. Oaklands is a beautiful home, with wonderful grounds, gardens, and communal spaces. The warm welcome I have received since joining the team is a real credit to the company's values and culture of the home.
