Shipdham Manor, which is more than 200 years old, may have a lot of history but offers facilities very much in keeping with the twenty-first century.

Shipdham Manor in Shipdham is well-situated to give residents easy access to the local post office, church, village store and doctor's surgery.

Care staff are chosen not only for their skills but also for the warmth, friendliness and caring attitude.

An optician, dentist and chiropodist regularly visit the care home and an in-house hairdressing salon caters to residents' hair needs as well as providing manicures.

My dad came here for respite and has settled so well that he wants to stay. This has taken a lot of worry off my family as dad lived a few miles away. Before my daughters and I had to go over every night to put him to bed. We would then worry that he would get up and fall and not be found until his
carers came in the morning. We all, including dad, feel much happier knowing he has someone here 24/7 to help him when needed. The manager and staff are always pleasant and helpful. We love being able to just walk less than five minutes up the road to see dad!

I am pleased my 92 year old grandad is only now a three minute walk away from home. I feel more at ease knowing my grandad has constant care. He seems to be very happy here and is pleased with the staff and management.

I came here for two weeks respite care and liked it so much I decided to stay! The manager and staff are always helpful and nothing is too much trouble for them. I feel much safer knowing there is someone here at all times. My daughter, grandchildren and great grandchildren live very close and are able
to visit me daily, unlike when I lived further away.

As I live in Canada, I did not visit as often as I would have liked. The times that I did visit, I found the care for my step-mum very good she was very well looked after, and the staff were excellent as was the food. I would recommend Shipdham Manor to any of my family that live in Norfolk, at this
time.

Shipdham Manor was a wonderful place for mum to enjoy her final years of her life. The staff are all fantastic. The care and thought they gave to mum was second to none. It was a great comfort to both of us knowing how exceptionally well mum was cared for.

First impression when selecting a care home: clean, friendly, well staffed. After four weeks my friend has gained weight, is no longer bed-ridden and can now sit in extremely pleasant surroundings. The manager and staff are excellent and I am confident that my friend's life will be extended now with
the quality of care she receives.

I find all the staff very friendly and willing to help. Most of the residents are able to feed themselves but I think the few that are not able to need a bit more attention at mealtimes.

My father has been in Shipdham Manor for 2 years with severe dementia and settled with ease. Our initial concerns and worries about Dad being in a Care Home were short-lived as the care staff are amazing. Always friendly, happy, smiling faces and more importantly the patience and kindness they display
to all residents at all times is endearing. The management and senior staff are always on hand to let us know what's happening and fill us in on all Dad's latest exploits (funny or not quite so funny!).
He always looks smart, well groomed, clean and very content.
Bedrooms and facilities are very good, always being constantly cleaned and redecorated. Food is of the highest standards and nothing is too much trouble to make sure residents are eating correctly and healthily.
There's a bundle of exciting activities to cater for everyone most days - music, television, quizzes, crafting and days out for the more mobile.
All in all I feel my Father is in a very safe, caring, sweet and fun environment surrounded by staff who do actually care, which means my family can relax and enjoy our times when visiting him.

Current Review Score: 9.6 (9.614)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.6 (9.614) out of 10 for Shipdham Manor is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.7 out of 5 from 16 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.9 out of 5 from 16 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.714 for Shipdham Manor is calculated as follows: ( (140 Excellents x 5) + (44 Goods x 4) + (5 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 189 Ratings = 4.714
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 4.9 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Shipdham Manor is based on 16 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 3.9
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 42 registered maximum number of service users is 8.4, which has been reached with 16 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.

Job Title: Team Leader

I have been working at Shipdham Manor for 25 years now, and I love every aspect of my job. I find it particularly rewarding to build relationships with the residents and offer them the support and care they need. The staff I work alongside, as well as the wonderful residents I get to care for, are the reasons why I have been here for so long. I couldn't imagine working anywhere else, as Shipdham Manor feels like my home away from home.
