My mother has vascular dementia, which has worsened at an incredible speed. The home, the manager and the staff have responded to her deteriorating condition with sympathy, understanding and respect. Her care plan is updated regularly and I am always

I love that we are all one big team, we all get on and muck in. The residents' welfare is everyone’s priority no matter what job role they have. My favourite part of my role is spending 1 to 1 time with the residents, being able to talk and listen to them, having a laugh and making them smile.
Sheena is the activities co-ordinator and she plans fantastic shows, classes and fundraising events for the residents as well as providing group and one to one activities for the residents, Please see the activities board near the main reception for the weeks' activities.
“Our motto is that care comes first no matter what and the whole team here lives by this. All team members will get out on the floor and help when needed. We want to be sure residents can continue to live normal and fulfilling lives.”
“I had never worked in care before but knew that’s what I wanted to do, Shipdham Manor has a good reputation and good reviews when I spoke to people and done some research. I love that everyone at Shipdham Manor works as a team, it’s like a big family, our residents are our main priority, and we all do our best to ensure they are happy and well looked after.”
“I started working at Healthcare Homes in 2012. I started as a kitchen assistant straight from school and am proud to have been made head cook; it’s the highlight of my career so far!”
My favourite part of my job is being able to bring enjoyment into the lives of our residents. I work hard on developing new and exciting plans for activities that meet the changing needs of our residents. When I'm out and about, I'm always keeping my eyes open for new ideas that I can try. Recently, I have taken on the role of administrator, and I am enjoying learning more about the business side of things.
I have been working at Shipdham Manor for 25 years now, and I love every aspect of my job. I find it particularly rewarding to build relationships with the residents and offer them the support and care they need. The staff I work alongside, as well as the wonderful residents I get to care for, are the reasons why I have been here for so long. I couldn't imagine working anywhere else, as Shipdham Manor feels like my home away from home.
