First moved to Westfields August 2015, mum came here for 6 weeks rehab after serious illness and a long hospital stay that turned out to 6 months. Initially allocated a very small but comfortable room, but moved to a larger room with a view which was much appreciated and allowed a bit more independence.
Always found staff and management were kind, informed and approachable. Glad to say mum now able to move on to sheltered housing, felt she was always in good hands.

What a truly wonderful place! After visiting today and having lunch I felt I must write this review.
First thing I have to say is how clean it is inside and out. It's decor is bright and cheery, and this continues into the residents own rooms. Everything needed in their rooms is provided, they can
even have their pet stay which is wonderful. There are numerous lounges where we could sit and talk, even a lounge area where we could sit and reminisce over very old postcards, photos and books, which we did and thoroughly enjoyed. The staff are friendly and respectful of all residents, giving them choices and encouraging their independence. The dining area is lovely, clean and bright. Plenty of drinks from water to spirits available, fresh fruit and even music playing in the background. The food was absolutely amazing, I couldn't fault it one bit, I have been a chef and I can honestly say it was perfect.
I want to say thank you for taking such obvious care and looking after the service user.

Mum was at Westfields for almost two years and during this time the team worked hard to find out about her as a person, her likes/dislikes, interests and her past to be able to discover the person she has once been and support her through her dementia. Westfields has a team of kind, caring, enthusiastic
and innovative people who genuinely want to make a difference and truly made mum feel at home. The small lounge/kitchen setting prevents a feeling of institutionalisation and re-in forces the homely atmosphere. Mum was treated as an individual but the great range of activities she joined in with the small groups. I wish there could be more homes as excellent for everyone in need.

During my Nan's stay here the staff went above and beyond to ensure she was well cared for. They provide a large selection of regular activities and interests, with people coming in to the home to carry out various activities, from small animal handlers, to musicians to theatre groups. The staff are
very caring and genuinely are interested in the well being of the residents. I would often phone my Nan and they would ensure she was able to get to the phone, assisting her with holding it too, letters were always read to her and photos put up in her room. One member of staff even sat with my Nan to write a letter to me with a photograph, which was just the most wonderful thing to receive in the post, such a surprise and so treasured. To the staff they are not just another old person but a person who has interests, experiences and things to share, they give them the best possible time at Westfields. I have to say I would have absolutely no hesitation at highly recommending the home to anyone. It is a wonderful place, tun by a wonderful team. They gave my Nan a safe secure home for the last few years of her life and I am very grateful to them for that

My Nan, who has recently passed away enjoyed her last few years at the home. She was well cared for, did excellent activities, had good relationships with the staff and whilst dying had her needs met. The staff went above and beyond any expectations. Some of the staff attended her funeral and the funeral
procession started from Westfields and we were invited to go back there for coffee and cake after the ceremony too. Nothing was ever too much trouble. The activities they do are engaging at all levels and I would highly recommend this home.

Current Review Score: 9.7 (9.720)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.7 (9.720) out of 10 for Westfields is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.9 out of 5 from 13 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.8 out of 5 from 13 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.895 for Westfields is calculated as follows: ( (138 Excellents x 5) + (14 Goods x 4) + (1 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 153 Ratings = 4.895
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 4.825 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Westfields is based on 13 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 3.825
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 51 registered maximum number of service users is 10.2, which has been reached with 13 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
