My mum has just had her second respite stay at Broadlands after coming out of hospital. I cannot thank the staff enough for her excellent care and giving me peace of mind. Every single member of staff was friendly, caring and cheerful. My mum was treated with so much care and dignity and this was extended to family members when visiting. The premises and gardens are stunning, Mum loved sitting in the lounge and enjoying the views across the broads, that's when she wasn't joining in with the varied daily activities and the friendly company. The kitchen staff also deserve a mention, such a choice every day and catering to even fussy eaters! My mum came out of hospital feeling very frail and quite distressed by her hospitalisation, but thanks to the wonderful caring team at Broadlands, she is now much more like my old mum again and feels ready to return home, but will definitely come back again if she needs to.

I have just visited my uncle (97) for the second time. He has been at Broadlands Care Home for a couple of months after a very sad, sudden bereavement. Having worked in the training of community health and care staff, I have visited many care homes and have also contributed to inspections. I have seen good and bad but I know that it is all down to the culture of a staff team and the care ethics instilled in the staff.

My uncle has told me how very well he is cared for and he 'feels safe'. Having been very upset initially, he now feels that he is better off at Broadlands, " because there is always somebody to talk with". Busy staff make time to build relationships with people. From observation, there is mutual respect, loyalty and a very gentle sense of humour with much laughter and banter. The staff do not obviously 'manage' people, they quietly observe what is needed and get professional support in to help people to maintain some independence. The Broadlands team deserves that 'Outstanding' rating.

Dad was naturally concerned to move into residential care, but soon settled into Broadlands. Indeed, after a hospital stay, it was heartening to see how relieved and happy he was to return back home. Beautiful location and gardens and always treated with dignity and respect. Dad was made to feel at home and developed a lovely relationship with the staff. We remain very grateful for the care he received.

This really is a true care home. All the staff care about the residents. My late mum said, "They do everything here," and they did. If any staff saw something that needed doing, they just did it. We were kept well informed about mum and were always made to feel welcome when visiting. We had meals with mum, too. Mum enjoyed the activities and did as much as she could. In this care home we knew that if mum needed anything at all, she would be well looked after. We wish she could have been here longer as she felt safe and secure and enjoyed everything about Broadlands. Should you need a care home, this is the one to go to, without a doubt. Thank you to everyone for looking after mum so well.

We have always found the staff very caring and incredibly helpful. The atmosphere is always friendly and welcoming and the surroundings and gardens, very well looked after, producing a peaceful environment. Always a good variety of inhouse activities for the residents to take part in, should they wish. We appreciate the hard work and dedication of the staff. Thank you!

After a very bad experience with another care home, I managed to get my mum a place with Broadlands. Mum came to them, as an angry, slightly broken lady, from her previous experience. They assured me, they would get her spirit back and that’s exactly what they did. Within two weeks, Mum was settled and happy. It was wonderful to see. I was so impressed at the constant evaluation of Mum's needs and care, even the small things, like looking at how her slippers supported her feet and suggesting what would be better for her. My mum can be a tricky character, however, they embraced that and encouraged her to enjoy herself and join in, making her laugh, and showing her love.

After spending time there now that Covid restrictions allow, I truly see what a remarkable place this is. The interaction of the care staff, not only with my mum but other residents, is wonderful. This is a place full of devoted, professional people and the love and care is there for all to see. A very grateful son, here.

It was Mum's 89th birthday. Eighty family members gathered together in a room provided to celebrate with her. This was the first time we were able to all be together with her for almost two years due to covid. The staff were brilliant. They made sure Mum looked her best, dressing her up and doing her hair. They were keen to look after us too, making sure we had everything we needed and making drinks for us. Mum always loved having her family around her and this made her day very special for her. A good time was had by all. Thank you so much.

My relative has been in Broadlands for a year now. Broadlands have transformed her life. She was terribly frail and was struggling with her memory, forgetting if she had eaten or had a drink and was very underweight. She is now a picture of health, has put on weight and enjoying every day of her life. We are all amazed at how different she is and it's all down to Broadlands, wonderful care to attention. Nothing is too much trouble. We all appreciate everything that Broadlands do for her, especially so through this pandemic, keeping everyone updated. Everywhere is beautifully clean and members of staff are extremely polite.

My uncle lived at Broadlands for five years. During that time he was treated as one of the family. His individual care and needs were always well provided and supported both with activities at the home and his personal choices. The staff are exceptional I cannot thank them enough for all the care and attention they made my uncle's life special.

What a wonderful home! From the moment Mum was greeted by smiling faces at the door on the day she arrived, she felt at home and for us, as a family, we knew it was right. It is such a happy home and the staff were like extended family members not only to Mum but to us too. They treat everyone with such care and compassion. Mum loved the activities and the wonderful meals that are on offer. She loved it there. Unfortunately, Mum's time at Broadlands was cut short due to a sudden deterioration in her health. During her last few days, again the staff dealt with her care with dignity and great kindness and supported us too. Even though it was for a short period of time, Mum always said it was home from home and as a family, we couldn't agree more. We would highly recommend Broadlands.

My Mum and Aunt have been residents in Broadlands for over 3 years and the care afforded to them has been exemplary. The facilities and beautiful setting make this a very special place.
The attention given by all members of staff, regardless of seniority, is of the highest standard.
This COVID year we have truly missed all the usual wonderful celebrations which give staff, residents and relatives the opportunity to mix together socially, either to fundraise or celebrate special occasions. Relatives and other visitors are always made to feel welcome. It is satisfying to hear a relative refer to Broadlands as “home”.

Thank you so much!

Having been here for just over a year I have seen several changes all good! Not least I now have a lovely suite of new furniture that I am very pleased with. I find that all the staff are very caring and some I have got fond of. The manager has made sure we are safe all the time from the Pandemic but at the same time gradually easing restrictions. The food is still great.

My mother has been a resident at Broadlands for over a year now and was very much welcomed from the day she first arrived feeling understandably nervous. I had visited other nursing homes in the area prior to choosing Broadlands and non of them matched up in terms of cleanliness and a positive, welcoming atmosphere. During her time in Broadlands, my mother has been treated with dignity and respect and is so well looked after by the care staff and management. She has been able to be involved in a variety of daily activities which are run with enthusiasm. When I have observed the interactions between the staff and my mother and also other residents, the staff seem genuinely caring and committed to the welfare of people in their charge.

I work for the NHS and Broadlands was recommended to me by colleagues who had also had family there and who considered this to be the outstanding care home in the locality. I certainly concur and I am so grateful to all the staff for their hard work.

From the first contact with Broadlands to when my mother was taken to the hospital we found all members of staff to be friendly, kind and extremely helpful. Not only to my mother but to all family members. She enjoyed her stay in the home and was particularly complimentary about the food. Her named nurse deserves a special mention as she went above and beyond her duties and formed a close bond with Mother.

Broadlands Care Home, in my personal opinion, is equal to any 5-star hotel.
The staff are dedicated to the care and wellbeing of the residents.
If a resident requires something, the staff will attend to it with courtesy and very promptly.

I would recommend Broadlands to any friend or family member needing a first-class nursing home of just to recuperate after an operation.

Broadlands is home in every respect; not just for residents but also for us relatives.
The staff team are welcoming, friendly, kind, and constantly maintain an outstanding level of commitment thus ensuring the well-being of all their residents.
My father has been part of this extended family for ten months. He is safe, well, happy, active and brilliantly cared for. I can leave after spending time with him, safe in the knowledge that all will be well.

The peaceful Broad-side location of Broadlands simply enhances the ambience and ethos of this exceptional and unique home.

Hi, I’m Anne and I have worked at Broadlands for 19 years, the last fourteen years as manager.
I have an extremely dedicated and committed team who all deliver person centred care. We work together in our residents’ home supporting them to “live the rest of their lives” to the full Each one of our residents’ is an individual and their wishes, choices and preferences are always respected. We offer a “home” for life.

My personal philosophy is that we are privileged to work in our residents’ “home” and look after our residents’ as we would our own family. Relatives and friends are always welcome. I am very approachable, along with the rest of my management team and we are always happy to help.

The best medicine is a smile and laughter, and you are always guaranteed that at Broadlands.
