Foxgrove is situated in two acres of tree-lined grounds with beautiful gardens, and is set in the centre of Old Felixstowe. The property is an attractive Victorian mansion that has easy access to all local amenities, including a post office and general store. Walks can be taken to the town centre and nearby cliffs.

Foxgrove has a friendly warm atmosphere and the elegant lounge and dining room combine to create a charming environment for residents. The generous bedrooms are all en-suite and decorated to a high standard. All rooms have a television and telephone point. Whilst they are all fully furnished residents are encouraged to bring their own items of furniture and personal effects so that their room can become truly their own.

Care staff are trained to the highest standards and chosen not only for their skills but also for their warmth, friendliness and caring attitude. Staff are available constantly to provide professional care that respects the rights and dignity of the individual.

Residents are assessed regularly to ascertain their needs are met fully. Appointments can be made with a visiting optician, dentist, hairdresser and chiropodist. Catering staff provide snacks throughout the day and delicious meals. Special diets can of course be catered for.

The home has a dedicated Activities Co-ordinator who can arrange for residents to take part in as many, or as few, activities as they wish.

Family and friends are always welcome at Foxgrove. Professionals value their involvement in residents' care. Above all, they promote individual choice in a caring environment that is free from stress or worry.

My dad has been here since last May 2018. He has enjoyed his stay. The carers are really helpful and supportive and he enjoys the activities which the activities co-ordinator organises. Country Road is one of his favourite singers. The carers are like friends.

The staff at Foxgrove are always very professional and extremely helpful.
Nothing is too much trouble and they are always smiling. All the staff go beyond what is expected. Too many staff to mention, a few ladies are amongst all the wonderful staff.

My Mother in Law (106) had been living in her own bungalow with a few carers once a day. When she collapsed and needed full-time care, Foxgrove had a perfect room available and has given her very good care since she arrived. They listen to her needs and respond kindly to her requirements. We are very
happy to have found such a caring home for her.

Following a fall and hospitalisation, my father recently stayed at Foxgrove as he needed constant care and attention.
From the moment we arrived to see it for the first time, throughout his stay and following his passing, we were extremely impressed and happy with all aspects of Foxgrove.
The staff
really cared, were friendly and approachable and nothing was too much trouble for them.
Dad was made very comfortable and his room was of a very good size, well furnished and nicely decorated.
We would really like to thank all the staff at Foxgrove for what they did.
We couldn't recommend Foxgrove highly enough and would like to let anyone who may be looking for the right care home to be reassured.

When my mother in law moved into Foxgrove the staff could not have done more to help her and the family. Nothing is too much trouble. Foxgrove is a small home and everyone is made to feel like family. The care is second to none. I truly believe that the care at Foxgrove has benefitted and extended my
mother in laws life greatly. We would not have chosen anywhere else. We would like to say a massive thank you to all staff at Foxgrove.

My mother went to Foxglove after a lengthy stay in the hospital. On admission to the home, she was two stone underweight and very frail. With the care and attention, she has received at Foxgrove, mum is now back to her usual weight. Mum has other complex needs, all of which are attended to professionally
and with care. All the staff at Foxgrove are dedicated to their resident's wellbeing. The atmosphere is warm and friendly and nothing is "too much trouble" for the staff.

Mum was at Foxgrove for a very short time. I only wish she could have been there a few years before. Everybody was very caring, friendly and responsive to Mum's needs. Such a pity that the time she got there she couldn't make the most of all the facilities and activities.

Gran was only at Foxgrove for 2 and a half weeks but in that short time, the manager and her team made a huge difference. Foxgrove has a welcoming, homely feel with happy, genuine staff.

They were understanding and reassuring at a worrying and stressful time. Most importantly to us, gran got excellent

care when she needed it.

I have lived in Foxgrove Residential Home for a few months now, with their help my condition has improved a lot. The staff are great and some have even gone out of their way to help me, I am in a wheelchair at present and they have tried to make me walk again. I can do a few steps but it becomes so
painful, so hopefully, a powerchair will be next. As I write this, the residents ate in the garden with the sun shining down on us and a guy playing the sax. This happens every so often (just been given a teacake and an orange juice) entertainment like this I like. The only problem I have is getting on the internet but they are working on that too.

Mum passed away at Foxgrove in January 2017, we cannot thank all the lovely nurses enough for all the care mum received in her two years spent with you. Mum in our view received the highest quality of care, staff always showed empathy, respect and dignity at all times.
Mum had Dementia, Parkinson's,
along with other complications with stays in hospital, Foxgrove continued to give the highest quality of care, until mum passed in January 2017.
When the funeral director received mum from Foxgrove into their care, the funeral director told us how well-presented mum was, as I have worked in the care industry for many years, I highly congratulate the staff at Foxgrove for their professionalism, dedication, support and end of life care.
We highly recommend Foxgrove Residential Home.

This is a belated review but wanted to thank Foxgrove for again being very accommodating. We wanted to take my Mum out for Sunday lunch and a trip to the cinema as part of her birthday celebrations. This was a real worry for us transporting a wheelchair bound person but the home came to the rescue and
arranged for us to use their minibus to get to the venue. All went perfectly to plan and the person taking and returning us was fantastic (Mum is a particular fan of his as she really enjoys the trips out he arranged). Thank you very much.

My mum lived at Foxgrove for five and a half years and throughout it the staff at Foxgrove were brilliant to her. She thoroughly enjoyed living there. The home has always been clean, welcoming and has a 'homely' feel.
In September 2016 my mum passed away. She had been in hospital twice just before
hand, but looked forward to returning to Foxgrove. She was warmly welcomed back by the staff. In her final days there, I visited daily, but whilst I wasn't there, the staff attended to her needs. She passed away peacefully in the place she loved.

After admission to hospital, mum was diagnosed with Parkinson's and Lewy Bodies Dementia (hallucinations). Foxgrove was found very quickly (10 days) and we were delighted as we live in Felixstowe and I have been caring for her 24/7 for over 3 years, as I moved her in with me when she became unable to
cope.
Foxgrove was a 'home from home', small, friendly, wonderful staff set in beautiful gardens. Becuase mum is still quite mobile (with a stick) it soon became apparent that this was not safe for her as she wanders and was not secure, also steps etc to unsecured areas. Also because of her condition, she doesn't sleep well at night and although room etc is alarmed, to two-night staff aren't enough to deal with her needs and the 3 day-time staff only.
Notice has now been given and after only 4 weeks, another more suitable home for her needs to be found. It does state that they cater for Parkinsons and Dementia, so disappointed but understand completely.

Current Review Score: 9.5 (9.508)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.5 (9.508) out of 10 for Foxgrove Residential Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.7 out of 5 from 8 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.8 out of 5 from 8 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.708 for Foxgrove Residential Home is calculated as follows: ( (72 Excellents x 5) + (20 Goods x 4) + (4 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 96 Ratings = 4.708
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 4.8 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Foxgrove Residential Home is based on 8 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 10 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, and then 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews and then 0.1 Points for the next five Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.100, 7th = 0.100, 8th = 0.100, 9th = 0.100, 10th = 0.100) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.1 + 0.1 + 0.1 = 3.8
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 24 registered maximum number of service users is 4.8, which has been reached with 8 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
