Foxgrove is situated in two acres of tree-lined grounds with beautiful gardens, and is set in the centre of Old Felixstowe. The property is an attractive Victorian mansion that has easy access to all local amenities, including a post office and general store. Walks can be taken to the town centre and nearby cliffs.

Foxgrove has a friendly warm atmosphere and the elegant lounge and dining room combine to create a charming environment for residents. The generous bedrooms are all en-suite and decorated to a high standard. All rooms have a television and telephone point. Whilst they are all fully furnished residents are encouraged to bring their own items of furniture and personal effects so that their room can become truly their own.

Care staff are trained to the highest standards and chosen not only for their skills but also for their warmth, friendliness and caring attitude. Staff are available constantly to provide professional care that respects the rights and dignity of the individual.

Residents are assessed regularly to ascertain their needs are met fully. Appointments can be made with a visiting optician, dentist, hairdresser and chiropodist. Catering staff provide snacks throughout the day and delicious meals. Special diets can of course be catered for.

The home has a dedicated Activities Co-ordinator who can arrange for residents to take part in as many, or as few, activities as they wish.

Family and friends are always welcome at Foxgrove. Professionals value their involvement in residents' care. Above all, they promote individual choice in a caring environment that is free from stress or worry.

In the six years, my mum has been at Foxgrove she has had excellent care. She is happy here, well fed and kept clean and tidy as her ability to look after herself has decreased. The staff are very kind and caring. There is always things going on to keep the residents entertained and interested. Overall
a lovely home with a beautiful garden.

My mother was rapidly approaching her 80th birthday, we as a family wanted to make it a memorable time for her but wanted to include her friends at Foxgrove. We asked if we could do an afternoon tea on the grounds and management and staff were keen to assist. The chef laid on the food and I supplied
the cake. The staff did a great job with the cups of tea and everyone had a great time and all kept it as a surprise for mum! Thanks Foxgrove, you did us proud!

Mother moved into Foxgrove 6 years ago due to ageing health. The cooks go out of their way to meet my mothers diet needs. The home is small and the staff are kind and friendly, seeing to my mothers needs.
There is a full programme of activities. Mother enjoys still doing her knitting. The home also
has its own in house transport for out and about activities and those appointments which take the worry out of getting your family member to them. If you're looking for a residential care home close to town, seafront them I recommend a viewing.

Our friend moved to Foxgrove from his home in September 2015, settling in well and enjoying the company and the staff. His comments were 'he felt safe'. Sadly with failing health he deteriorated. The staff and management have done an amazing job with him, encouraging him to eat and drink. He received
every assistance to remain as
comfortable and able bodied where possible. The carers have such compassion and kindness. His room overlooked the garden, it had the essential equipment. Nothing was too much trouble, sorting out hearing aids, clinics etc. We are glad he chose Foxgrove he couldn't have done better!

Current Review Score: 9.6 (9.641)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.6 (9.641) out of 10 for Foxgrove Residential Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.7 out of 5 from 9 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.9 out of 5 from 9 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.741 for Foxgrove Residential Home is calculated as follows: ( (84 Excellents x 5) + (20 Goods x 4) + (4 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 108 Ratings = 4.741
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 4.9 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Foxgrove Residential Home is based on 9 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 10 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, and then 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews and then 0.1 Points for the next five Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.100, 7th = 0.100, 8th = 0.100, 9th = 0.100, 10th = 0.100) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.1 + 0.1 + 0.1 + 0.1 = 3.9
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 24 registered maximum number of service users is 4.8, which has been reached with 9 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.

I love working with the elderly, and being part of two such beautiful homes is a real bonus, a lovely setting for our wonderful residents. I’m extremely passionate about delivering the highest standard of care and making sure everyone feels happy, comfortable, safe, and secure. I see it as a privilege to come into their home each day to offer help and support, however much they need. With over seven years’ experience in care, I’ve completed numerous care and dementia-related training courses and am currently studying for my Level 5 Leadership and Management in Adult Care.
