My mother was taken into Maynell House in February 2016 just a few days before her 90th Birthday. She was suffering from dementia and was extremely difficult to deal with. The staff at Maynell House were amazing in the way they treated her - despite many difficult times. She gradually got used to her surroundings and appeared very happy. In her last days, there was nothing the staff could do which was too much trouble. They arranged everything to make her comfortable and talked to her constantly. I would have no hesitation in recommending the home to anyone.
I see my father-in-law often and the staff will also take the time to tell me how he is getting on and if there is anything he needs. They will also phone me so I can get him out for his cigarette and staff will take him out regularly throughout the day so he can have a smoke as that is his enjoyment as he is registered blind. The staff are always friendly and helpful.
Reasonable care - considerate but not exceptional. Generally cheerful, but not with occasional sense that residents lives are arranged to fit the schedule and convenience of the home; not nice versa. Activities are limited. Not much, if any, initiative evident for finding solution for residents to attend church, for example. Clean, friendly and generally fine.
Maynell House is a delightful home, the staff are warm, friendly and very caring to the residents who are well looked after with dedicated staff who are both patient and sympathetic. I would have no hesitation in recommending Maynell House to anyone who needs residential care for their loved ones. It is set in an ideal location with views overlooking lawns and a well kept charming garden.
My mother has advanced dementia and cannot walk unaided. She needs a lot of care and attention and the staff are wonderful with her - spending time just chatting so she never feels lonely. She has had a few falls recently and they always take the time to care for her injuries and to inform me when they happen. The food is great and mum always eats well. They take her out in the garden which she loves and they keep her company in the evening when she can't sleep. Her personal needs are well attended to, and she is encouraged to join in activities when they have them. Overall it is a lovely home and mum is very happy.
Excellent management team, always keep you informed.
Personally can't fault the home.
The home is very nice. The staff are very friendly, always make you welcome. My sister is very well looked after. The home is always nice and clean.
My father was admitted to Maynell House nearly 4 years ago, initially for a 2 week respite period. At the time he was very poorly and needed a great deal of care and attention. At the end of the 2 week period he wanted to stay. Since then he has enjoyed a very good quality of care, appropriate quantities and types of food, good medical care when the needs arose. Maynell House has been excellent in keeping me informed about any incidents or accidents. At a time when the care industry is under such scrutiny, I would have no hesitation in recommending Maynell House.
Maynell House is a delightful old house with many original features and large and well maintained gardens. There are a number of rooms available to all including a pleasant dining room and a large lounge. The home is warm, welcoming and friendly. The rooms are of a good size and well appointed. The staff are a good mixture of young and older carers all of whom provide excellent care. My mother is very comfortable here and I have no hesitation in recommending the home.
Staff and residents are very friendly and helpful. Staff always polite. Usually get a cup of tea (coming by bus meals I arrive a little late). Very lovely old house and gardens.
My grandmother has been here for approximately six weeks and I cannot fault the home. Well kept home and grounds, spotlessly clean and the staff seem to genuinely care about the residents. In particular the manager who is wonderful she has been very helpful and empathetic to our situation.
co-operate with the carers, plus she is reluctant to eat. They try very hard and more patient than I might be. I am happy and satisfied with the care provided. Activities are provided but mum is now 96 and won't join in much, she does enjoy a sing-song.
Enjoyed my stay very much. Everyone very helpful. Food excellent, would come back again!
My grandad is registered blind but the home will still find activities for him to be able to join in, and what he will enjoy to do. So all residents can join in together. Also when he goes out on the mini bus a staff member will explain what they are passing and things seen so he feels involved and can make a picture of his surroundings.
I feel that this is one of the best Care Homes in Felixstowe from those that I looked at for my father and (late) mother. I find the staff very caring and helpful and at times go the "extra mile". The surroundings and grounds are great and within easy access of shops or the sea front. Also events and day trips are organized for those that wish to go out with a carer in their minibus.
In the few weeks my mother has been in Maynell House with a diagnosis of dementia she has changed, she is a different person. The residents are very friendly, the staff from carers to management are excellent. The food is very good because she is putting on weight. All in all I would give them top marks 10/10.
It is so lovely to receive such positive feedback from the relatives of our residents, evidencing we are providing a person-centred approach with meeting care and support needs to our clients. Thank you. Judith Morgan-Worrall. Home Manager.

Meet the Team (2)

I’m proud to lead a team that creates a warm, safe and welcoming home. Our staff are local, we work closely together and always go the extra mile for our residents. I’m passionate about supporting people to live their best lives — listening to their individual needs and giving them choice in what they do and how they live each day. I’ve worked in care for many years, hold my Level 5 in Adult Residential Care and Registered Manager’s Award, and I’m currently studying towards my Level 7.

“I decided to work at Healthcare Homes as I had been working in domiciliary care locally and wished to continue in care, without the travelling. I applied for a care assistant role at Maynell House and due to my previous experience in admin, I’d been offered the admin post at both Foxgrove and Maynell! My favourite part of working in a residential home is working with so many different people, residents, family members, staff, and healthcare professionals. Every day is different and that’s my favourite part.”
