1. My husband thinks of Mellish as his home now and feels cared for and secure.
2. I am kept informed when visiting or by phone of anything concerning my husband and I get informed answers to my enquiries.
3. In 3 1/2 years my husband had 2 cataract operations, dental and chiropractic treatments involving external appointments. Transport superbly dealt with and my husband kept calm and at ease in trying situations.
4. The firm but caring and gentle way staff treat other residents is impressive.

5. Escorted walks outside the home have been arranged where possible and of great benefit and pleasure for my husband.

My lovely dad had to be admitted just before Christmas 2019 during a very traumatic time for the family. His vascular dementia and Alzheimer's together with being registered blind meant he was frightened, angry, confused and disorientated. The staff at Mellish House handled the transition with care, respect, insight and patience. 5 months on he is settled and 'at home'. The home meets his needs and allows me to have peace of mind knowing he is stimulated, clean, well-fed and treated as an individual.

My mother has been a resident at Mellish House for several years, during this time there have been several issues, mainly regarding room security that have caused concern. Several items have gone missing including an expensive hearing aid. Also, the tv remote has gone missing several times and once I arrived to find it in pieces, so had to repair it, probably due to other residents entering mums room without permission. This resulted in us having to purchase a door gate (as Mellish promised to but failed to source one) and get that installed. We also had to buy mum a tv as they wouldn't provide one... Another time someone damaged the aerial cable we had supplied and took weeks to get this sorted. There is a general penny-pinching vibe with the place and though staff are mostly great, this mars the experience. Currently also having problems with talking to our mum in lockdown as wi-fi signal upstairs is poor so the Ipad they use can't maintain the signal, which is very annoying when you just want to chat to your parent!

The carers are very helpful to my mother and myself. They were very good when she was taken ill and kept me informed. If I have ever been worried about my mum, they have always been there for me.

My mum has now been a resident for several years. During that time I have always felt that she is safe and well cared for.
The nursing staff are very kind and she participates in so many wonderful activities and Mellish House has become home.

I'm very grateful for all that the staff do as it means that I can visit and just enjoy my mum.

The team at Mellish were amazing and Dad's end of life care was handled in a professional and sensitive way. We were supported every step of the way and Dad had a peaceful and pain-free end. The staff were caring and understood totally his agitation and aggression as part of the disease and he was always treated with compassion and dignity.

My cousin was in Mellish House about 6 months. As I lived 3 hours away her stay gave me peace of mind. I know the staff would do their best with a lady who was unhappy to lose her independence and could be awkward. They were kind and patient and I could rely on them to contact me if necessary. On my visits, I found Mellish House to be clean and tidy and anything I picked up on was immediately dealt with.

I am delighted with my mum's care. I find staff helpful and caring. I am able to speak openly about my concerns and have been reassured. Mum's key worker is excellent and has built up a relationship based on trust.

Mum has been in Mellish House on a temporary placement (a chronic pain condition means she could no longer live in her own home), pending relocation to a care home near us. The staff have taken excellent care of her - several times when we visited she told us how kind they were - and helped her adapt to her future circumstances. The manager is a credit to her profession: although she knew that Mum would only be there temporarily she made sure that they knew Mum's history, likes and dislikes etc. All the staff have been conscientious and responsive. The manager also went 'above and beyond' - she gave us advice regarding arranging a care home placement in our town and provided information to help the assessment. I have to say Mum's room, though clean, was a bit shabby, but perhaps this room is regularly used for temporary placements. The care given, and the attitude in which it is given, is far more important than the condition of the furniture! Highly recommended.
